Grilled Marlin Steaks with Citrus Marinade

Grilled Marlin Steaks with Citrus Marinade

Ingredients:

  • 4 marlin steaks (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade:
    • In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, orange juice, lime juice, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Marinate the Marlin:
    • Place the marlin steaks in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the steaks, making sure they are well-coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, turning the steaks occasionally to ensure even marination.
  3. Preheat the Grill:
    • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Make sure the grates are clean and well-oiled to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the Marlin:
    • Remove the marlin steaks from the marinade and let any excess drip off. Place the steaks on the preheated grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. The cooking time may vary based on the thickness of the steaks.
  5. Baste with Marinade:
    • While grilling, you can baste the marlin with some of the reserved marinade for added flavor.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once the marlin steaks are cooked, remove them from the grill. Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley if desired. Serve the grilled marlin steaks hot with your favorite side dishes.

Note:

  • Marlin is a firm fish, and overcooking can result in a dry texture. Keep an eye on the cooking time to ensure the fish is cooked through but still moist.
  • You can serve the grilled marlin with a side of rice, quinoa, or a refreshing citrus salad for a well-balanced meal.
