DC PROJECT ANNOUNCES 5 FEATURED SPEAKERS AT AMM-CON 2021

Women for Gun Rights

The DC Project, a grassroots organization of women volunteers who span America and advocate for the Second Amendment by sharing their individual experiences as responsible gun owners and who are dedicated to education, not legislation, today announced that the 2021 Alternative Mass Media Conventions (AMM-CON) will feature five of their delegates as featured speakers. The fifth annual workshop will take place at the Westin Dallas/Fort Worth hotel from October 2-3, 2021. AMM-CON is an educational workshop hosted by The Polite Society Podcast, Self Defense Radio Network, and presented by the Second Amendment Foundation. The event provides pro-gun media with effective journalism techniques, education about activism, and dialogue on important pro-2A topics.

According to DC Project founder Dianna Muller, “We are thrilled that so many of our DC Project representatives will be on-hand to provide useful Second Amendment-supporting educational content throughout AMM-CON 2021. As we continue our ‘Women for Gun Rights’ mission, we’re thankful that the Second Amendment Foundation recognizes how crucial it is to dispel the misinformation about gun ownership that is so prevalent in the anti-gun community and everyday life.”

“The DC Project women presenting during AMM-CON 2021 are the brightest voices and some of the most compelling speakers in our ranks,” said Muller. “We’re proud of their tireless activism in preserving our right to bear arms.”

Alan Gottlieb, Founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, said, “We must hold ourselves to a higher standard than the local and national media when it comes to communicating pro-firearm issues. That’s why this event is so important for media members, content creators, and anyone connected to the 2A community.” AMM-CON provides education designed to improve the effectiveness of pro-gun messaging. “Folks who attend will leave with useful tools to help them reach their combined audience of tens of millions of Americans,” he added. “We’re taking the lead on Second Amendment media education and are thankful for the contributions from the DC Project.”

Kick It Up This Year with One of Aubrey D.™’s Spicy-Hot Specialty Mustards

Mustard. Can you imagine grilling hot dogs and hamburgers without mustard on the side? Would you consider serving sandwiches without a mustard option? And how bland would potato salad be without mustard?

To kick it up a notch, why not substitute ordinary American or Dijon mustard with one of Aubrey D.’s spicy-hot mustard options — Jalapeno Mustard, Jalapeno Honey Mustard, and Jalapeno Horseradish Mustard — that are sure to have all your friends asking for more.

Aubrey D. Jalapeno Mustard is a superb blend with just enough jalapeño to really spice things up! Create marinades, use it to season meat, fish, and fowl, or wherever your imagination takes you. It’s guaranteed to add a delicious bit of heat to everything you eat, taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary.
Aubrey D. Jalapeno Honey Mustard is a unique and fabulous blend of jalapeño peppers and just the right amount of honey to give a little sweetness along with a little heat, giving it both magnificent flavor and a fabulous taste. It’s great to marinate chicken, turkey, or anything else with wings.

As far back as the 16th century, cooks have been preparing mustard with horseradish to be consumed with roast beef, and the recipe has changed little in the last 500 years — until now! Aubrey D.’s Jalapeno Horseradish Mustard is so good it can be used on so much more than just roast beef. It’s also fantastic on ham or pork, sublime on a steak sandwich, and turns ordinary salmon or crab cakes into a mouthwatering delight. And talk about taking a veggie sandwich to the next level!

Mustard has been a popular condiment for centuries. It’s believed that mustard was first cultivated in India around 3000 BC. It was later taken to Britain by the Romans, who used it as a condiment and pickling spice. Ancient Egyptians tossed mustard seeds onto their food, and sent King Tut to the great beyond with a good supply in his tomb. Pope John Paul XXII loved mustard so much that in the early 1300’s he created a new Vatican position of mustard-maker to the pope – grand moutardier du pape. The modern word mustard comes from the Middle English mustarde, meaning condiment, which in turn comes from the Old French mostarde. The term “Dijon mustard” most likely came from Dijon France which was, during the 13th century, the center for mustard production. Manufactured mustard most likely began in Paris around 1292. The first time hotdog sandwiches were dressed with mustard was in 1904 at the St. Louis World Fair.

How To Choose A Suitable Firearm: 6 Important Things To Know

In today’s unpredictable world, firearms are more necessary than ever before. Widespread rioting, civil discord, and crime have left many Americans uncertain and scared. There are also lots of American citizens who enjoy hunting, which relies mostly on firearms.

Before you buy a firearm, you’ll need to apply for a permit. The permit application process isn’t particularly long and is very straightforward. If you qualify for a permit, then you can begin selecting the right firearm for you.

In this article, we’ll tell you how you can do that:

Read Reviews and Research

The first thing that you should do when you’re searching for the perfect firearm, is to read reviews and conduct your own research. Most people have an idea in their heads about what firearm they want. When you’ve got a rough idea about what you want, you can begin browsing gun reviews and taking peoples’ recommendations. Make sure that you carefully scrutinize each review, so as to avoid bias and fraudulent reviews. It’s also worth watching online vloggers, reading blogs, and checking out social media influencers. All of the aforementioned places provide insight into the effectiveness of certain firearms.

Reviews are all over the internet, so you have no excuse for not checking them out before you buy a firearm.

Hunting Bag Essentials: Don’t forget to bring these on your next adventure.

The most important thing to remember when packing your hunting bag is that you will be in the wilderness for a long time. That means bringing everything you need, and not forgetting anything. The following list of essentials below should help ensure that your next trip goes smoothly.

Food

One of the primary things that should be included in your hunting bag is food. If you are bringing a significant other along, make sure they also bring food. You need to be prepared for the worst-case scenario, which means having enough rations to last the entire trip if necessary.

You should plan on packing at least two meals worth of food per day – more depending on how long your trip is going to be and how much energy you are expending. Also, make sure to pack food that does not spoil easily, otherwise, it will become useless.

Navigation

Another thing you will need to include in your hunting bag is a map and a compass. This way, you can tell which direction you are heading and navigate back home if needed. As long as you have this tool with you, there should be no issue of getting lost while out on the trip of a lifetime.

Tools

You should also make sure that your bag contains tools such as a knife, saw, ax, or hatchet for gathering firewood if needed. In this case, you can even consider getting a Deejo pocket knife that will prove to be beneficial in many different situations. If you are bringing along another person, it is best to split this between both bags so each of you will have your own tool.

Black Bear Hunting Maine

I grew up in Mattawamkeag, Maine, a small town in northern Penobscot County, where I developed a love for hunting, fishing and hiking through the woodlands that surrounded. It was an early goal to become a licensed Maine Guide and I achieved that goal by my early 30’s. For nearly two decades, I operated a fall bear hunting operation in the Katahdin Region of Maine. By helping many hunters fulfill their goals of harvesting a black bear, I learned a few things that may help you successfully hunt a bear on your land.

The first thing you need to know about bear hunting over bait in Maine is that it is a highly regulated activity. Before you set out a bait on your property, read the rules section about bear hunting in the hunting law book. The bear hunting section in the law book tells you when, where and how a bait site needs to be situated in order to be legal.  Here are a few excerpts from the rules section for bear hunting.

Bait may not be placed to entice, hunt or trap black bear unless:

The bait is placed at least 50 yards from any travel way that is accessible by a conventional 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicleThe observation stand, blind or bait area is plainly labeled with a 2-inch by 4-inch tag with the name and address of the baiterThe bait is placed more than 500 yards from any solid waste disposal site or campgroundThe bait is placed more than 500 yards from an occupied dwelling, unless written permission is granted by the owner or tenantThe bait areas will be cleaned up by November 10 as defined by the state litter lawThe person hunting from another person’s stand or blind has the owner’s permission. The person placing bait on another person’s land has the landowner’s permission (oral or in writing). The bait is placed no sooner than 30 days before opening day of the season and no later than October 31.

Once you find a bait site that meets all the legal criteria, how can you be sure it’s a productive location?  I always looked for locations that I could enter the woods with the prevailing wind in my face. Bears also like dense cover. I looked for areas that had good unbroken stands of marketable, mature timber. If the area happened to be near a beaver flowage, that’s even better. Fallen trees, stumps, boulders and other terrain features can be used to help guide a bear into position as well as cutting some fallen logs to form a sort of crib.

A Black bear has a very keen sense of smell, so when establishing a new bait site, capitalize on this.  Bear can detect a bait site from over two miles. I would hang bags of carrion in grain sacks as high in the air as possible.  Bears will eat just about anything; the important thing is to keep plenty of it available for them and to refresh the bait as often as you can.  Depending on the abundance of natural food sources like, berries, nuts and apples, bears will come to baits in varying degrees of urgency.  Some years they come to bait better than others.  Once you have a bear, or bears coming to your site and it is hunting season, then the greatest tip I can give you is to sit as still as stone on your stand. Bears are very cautious, so you have to be on top of your game when hunting bear over bait.

The Concealed Carry Corner

U.S. Concealed Carry Association’s Bi-Weekly Bulletin
September 24, 2021

The U.S. Concealed Carry Association on Capitol Hill This Week

This week, Tim Schmidt, president and founder of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), along with Mike Lowney, chief strategy office, met with nearly a dozen members in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate to discuss efforts to protect law-abiding gun owners’ right to self-defense, as well as the importance of education and training.  The USCCA highlighted their overall mission to help responsibly armed Americans avoid danger, save lives, and keep loved ones safe.

The USCCA has heard from many of its more than 600,000 members about the difficulty they have traveling with their firearms across state lines due to the patchwork of state and local laws around concealed carry permits.  This not only prevents them from exercising their Second Amendment right, but puts them at risk of being caught in a situation where they can’t defend themselves or their family.

Thankfully, lawmakers are working to pass legislation, such as S. 1522, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act and H.R. 38, the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.  While there is much progress to be made, the USCCA stands ready to work with Members of Congress who support the right to self-defense and fight the good fight.

CSF, Governor’s Staff Gather to Discuss Advancing the Interests of the Sporting Community

For more than thirty years, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) has been at the forefront fighting for the interests of America’s sportsmen and women. Through their collective efforts of working with policymakers at the federal and state level, no other organization has the same level of effectiveness in advancing policy that is critical to our outdoor heritage. Today’s virtual policy discussion, titled “Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus: Advancing the Interests of the Sporting Community,” further exemplifies CSF’s mission of working with Congress, governors, and state legislators to protect and advance hunting, angling, recreational shooting, and trapping.

The virtual event was hosted on the eve of National Hunting and Fishing Day, an event that is observed every fourth Saturday in September. CSF staff worked with the Administration to obtain a presidential proclamation as well as governor’s from across the country to collect over 30 proclamations from states wanting to recognize and celebrate their state’s rich sporting heritage and the contributions of sportsmen and women to conservation in their state.

The GSC was formed in 2009 by the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation as a bipartisan caucus of governors working to protect and advance the interests of America’s sportsmen and women as well as professional fish and wildlife management. As with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus and the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses, the GSC facilitates communication and information exchange between participating offices and is currently lead by co-chairs Gov. Kristi Noem (SD) and Gov. John Bel Edwards (LA). Presently, the bipartisan GSC consists of 30 Governors representing diverse regions of the nation.

“The GSC is the youngest of the three caucuses and fills a vital role. As the head executive in their states, priorities identified by governors often affect the legislative agenda, and their support on issues can carry significant weight,” said Jeff Crane, CSF’s President and CEO. “To continue to advance priorities, relationships with governor’s offices are key, and through the GSC, we have created a network of pro-sporting governors and a mechanism to ensure the policy priorities of the sportsmen’s community are effectively communicated with a state’s executive branch.”

Staffers from several gubernatorial offices from across the country joined CSF staff to learn more about the mission and goals of both CSF and the GSC. CSF staff focused the discussion on the work we do at both state and federal levels and how GSC member offices can support these efforts to advance the issues important to sportsmen and women. Staff also highlighted CSF’s collection of issue briefs that serve as an educational resource to elected officials. These issue briefs cover a variety of topics that are organized into four categories: youth engagement and R3, protecting our sporting heritage, access and opportunity, and conservation.
