Crush Hardwater Variables with G. Loomis IMX-PRO Ice Rods

Leverage Premium Tools for Ice Fishing Success

Throughout the ice belt, leaves are falling from the trees while long-range forecasts call for the return of snow and cold. Avid anglers are charging batteries, assembling shelters and preparing tackle for another season of epic battles held through cylindrical holes in the ice. Integral components of every ice fishing arsenal, new IMX-PRO Ice rods from G. Loomis stand ready to enhance every angler’s success on the ice.

Action, sensitivity, and purposeful construction are the driving forces behind the new line of G. Loomis IMX-PRO Ice rods. By leveraging two complementary manufacturing methods and blank technologies,
G. Loomis IMX-PRO Ice rods deliver industry-leading performance to tackle a broad range of ice fishing situations. Seven IMX-PRO Ice models feature tubular graphite construction and G. Loomis’ proprietary Multi-Taper Design for increased sensitivity and decreased weight. A series of “micro tapers” within the overall taper of the rod, the Multi-Taper Design process enables rod engineers to use more material on potential stress points and less material everywhere else. The result is a library of precisely defined ice rod lengths and powers with Fast actions that perfectly balance durability with hardwater performance. With lengths from 33” to 41” and powers ranging from Medium-Light to Medium-Heavy, tubular graphite IMX-PRO Ice rods are ideally suited for walleye, pike, and lake trout applications.

Five additional IMX-PRO Ice models feature solid graphite construction for unparalleled sensitivity. Each of these solid graphite blanks delivers Extra-Fast action for enhanced strike detection and positive hook-setting performance. These Light and Medium-Light power IMX-PRO Ice rods have lengths from 29” to 33” and are the ultimate weapons for panfish, stocked trout, and other light tackle applications.

All models of the IMX-PRO Ice rods feature a Hybrid Guide System and are outfitted with ultra-lightweight REC Recoil guides to facilitate ice management. Solid stainless-steel tip guides provide increased rigidity and consistent shape. Premium cork handles in solid and split-grip configurations allow anglers to customize reel placement on the handle to optimize balance and enhance sensitivity.  Innovative components and technologies elevate G. Loomis IMX-PRO Ice rods to the pinnacle of every ice fishing experience.

Mule Deer Foundation Commits $1 Million for 8,100-Acre Cinnamon Creek Property Acquisition

Salt Lake City, Utah – The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) provided $1 million to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) to support the acquisition of 8,107-acres of Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA) land. The purchase of the Cinnamon Creek property will ensure important mule deer habitat will remain accessible for public use. This property, located in Cache and Weber counties, west of Ant Flat Road, will become the 193rd DWR wildlife management area in Utah. Several partners including MDF committed funds so DWR could buy the land at auction.

“The Cinnamon Creek property acquisition is a huge win for wildlife and for sportsmen and women in Utah,” said Mike Laughter MDF Director of Field Operations. “This area provides habitat for mule deer, elk, moose, greater sage-grouse, sharp-tailed grouse, and turkey. The Odgen permit area has limited public access opportunities and generations of public land users have utilized this property for hunting and fishing opportunities. Securing Cinnamon Creek as a DWR wildlife management area will protect that access and is significant to all who recreate in Utah.”

The $1 million in funding MDF committed for the acquisition was raised through MDF local fundraising activities, the $5 application fee from the 200 permits program that are drawn annually at the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo, and the auction of Utah Conservation Permits at MDF events. The 200 permits and Conservation Permits programs are DWR initiatives facilitated by MDF that generate funding for wildlife conservation and hunting opportunities for sportsmen and women in the state of Utah.

“MDF is proud to partner with Utah DWR on these programs that result in projects like the Cinnamon Creek acquisition. From the moment we were made aware the property was being sold, MDF has been working to support the acquisition of these valuable public lands,” said MDF President and CEO Joel Pedersen. “In addition to increased access for sportsmen and women, the permit programs benefit wildlife conservation and habitat restoration in the state of Utah, and this is something we can all celebrate.”

MDF is a strong advocate for public land access and the conservation of sustainable deer populations. The acquisition of the Cinnamon Creek property will allow continued public access for sportsmen and women to hunt and fish and will also protect important habitat for mule deer and other wildlife species. The DWR had previously leased the property from SITLA, making the property accessible for the public recreation, and the sale threatened to restrict further public usage. MDF’s commitment to the acquisition was joined by partners including Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, the State of Utah, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

MidwayUSA Foundation Sets Goal for Giving Tuesday

Columbia, MO – Giving Tuesday, November 30, is the biggest fundraising day of the year for non-profits across the globe. MidwayUSA Foundation has set a goal to raise $200,000 for youth shooting sports and encourages the outdoor industry to join their efforts. To ensure every dollar donated goes further, they will offer $200,000 to match the day’s contributions to youth shooting teams and organizations. These matching dollars are possible because of the generosity of Larry and Brenda Potterfield, owners of MidwayUSA.

MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director, G. Scott Reynolds said, “We look forward to this day every year because of the amazing generosity we witness for the youth shooting teams we support. A contribution on Giving Tuesday is a true investment in the future of the outdoor industry. Achieving our goal to raise $200,000 will benefit many young shooters across the country.”

In addition to matching funds, there will be an incentive to award participating shooting teams. The top five fundraising teams of the day will earn additional endowment funds ($5,000/$4,000/$3,000/$2,000/$1,000) and another ten participating teams will be randomly drawn to win $500, each.  Nearly 3,000 youth shooting teams have an endowment with MidwayUSA Foundation and every team can receive online donations right through MidwayUSAFoundation.org/findateam.  Searching for a shooting team is easy and donations are safe and secure. Every donation made to a MidwayUSA Foundation team endowment is tax-deductible.  There are no fees removed and 100% of the donor’s gift benefits that team, directly. The Foundation keeps nothing for operations.

Every donation to a shooting team’s respective endowment grows that team’s annual cash grant. Cash grants provide crucial funds to offset the many expenses the youth shooting teams incur.  Covering the cost of ammunition, competition fees, targets, or travel can allow more young athletes the chance to participate in shooting sports.  Many shooting sports athletes become future hunters and conservationists too. An investment in youth shooting sports is an investment in the entire outdoor industry.  Join MidwayUSA Foundation on Tuesday, November 30.  https://www.midwayusafoundation.org/donate/

The MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to sustain and grow youth shooting sports by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams. Every donation made is tax-deductible and allows the Foundation to assist in expanding and enhancing the leadership skills, confidence, and discipline of today’s youth through shooting sports activities. The Foundation supports all shooting disciplines. For more information about how the MidwayUSA Foundation is changing the future of youth shooting sports, please visit midwayusafoundation.org or call 1-877-375-4570.

TrueTimber® Camo Featured on New Honda Navi Graphics

TrueTimber has announced the Viper Urban camo pattern is now available in a graphics package for the all new 2022 Honda Navi. This announcement follows a partnership announcement with Honda earlier in the year to offer the iconic camo pattern on select Talon and Pioneer models. This graphics package is just one of the many accessories offered by Honda for Navi customers in 2022.

“This is an awesome addition to our lineup with Honda and we are really excited to see the partnership grow,” said TrueTimber CEO Rusty Sellars. “Our brand and camo patterns are reaching new markets and we are finding more and more folks who love our patterns. This type of growth is great to see, and we look forward to Navi riders having the opportunity to sport our Viper Urban camo.”

Somewhat of a mix between Honda’s Ruckus and Grom, the Navi has the styling of a motorcycle and some convenience features of a scooter, including Honda’s V-Matic automatic transmission—just twist the throttle to go. It’s all wrapped up in an unintimidating miniMOTO package, and thanks to an incredible $1,807 MSRP and gas-sipping performance, the Navi is within reach of almost any customer. With Honda’s proven quality and reliability, it’s also a dependable way to get around town—far more convenient than public transportation or carpooling.

The TrueTimber Viper Urban design and coloration was scientifically engineered to break-up the outline and disguise the movement of objects in shadowed, urban environments. Viper Urban originated with tactical applications in mind but has proven its ability to perform in nearly any low-light environment. This aggressive and stylish pattern has also found new meaning with applications across the power and motorsports industries and is even featured on JR Motorsports’ No. 9 Bass Pro Shops, TrueTimber, Black Rifle Coffee Company NASCAR Xfinity Series car driven by Noah Gragson.

The new longer style gives anglers everything they could want in pants; modeled after the best-selling shorts.

The NXTLVL Cargo Pants are built with quick-drying, high-stretch fabrics for freedom of movement and are designed for an active day. Constructed with a UPF fabric, the NXTLVL Cargo Pants offer all the sun protection anglers need for long days on the water—without the need to re-apply sunscreen every couple of hours. The cotton, polyester and spandex blend offers just the right combination of protection and breathability to keep mosquitoes and no-see-ums at bay while allowing the cooling breeze to get through. The blended fabric also gives anglers the flexibility they need while maintaining shape and fit. Badass Tents Company Backgrounder – Bringing Powersports Expertise and 56 years of Plastics Manufacturing Expertise to the Rooftop Tent Market

Badass Tents® engineers and manufacturers Made-in-USA high-performance rooftop tents for discerning outdoor enthusiasts who live the “go-big or go-home” life. With over 20 years’ experience in the demanding powersports industry, and 56+ years in the plastics and composites industries, Badass Tents (also known as BA Tents) used this yardstick to develop next-level modern tents that exceed all current market expectations, performance that enhance consumer enjoyment and reduce carbon footprint.

Roger Davis founded Badass Tents in 2020. He rallied his engineering & manufacturing teams to use their knowledge of powersport aerodynamics and durable plastics, used in commercial, automotive and medical products, to develop best-in-class rooftop tents that someone like him would be proud to install on their vehicles. Being an avid off-roader and camper, he saw an opportunity to develop rooftop tents that fit in your garage, don’t add wind noise or reduce gas milage and offer a better aesthetic through a streamlined design that integrates with vehicles and most importantly, look Badass. Some of the patented features like the moonroof and 360-degree views utilized in BA Tents were inspired by his love of bringing the outside in and watching the spectacular desert night skies and surroundings. The modular design makes BA Tents easy to ship in a flatpack to consumers, and dealers, for an easy assembly and installation.

When Davis conceptualized the company, he wanted to name it after his beautiful wife Danielle, who shares his passion for the outdoors with their family. When discussing this with her, she raised an eyebrow and said, “I don’t know about that idea, the only thing I can think of is my nickname, Badass.” The light turned on and Roger imagined that you would never forget a name like Badass Tents. The couple enjoys taking their two young children and Goldendoodle on their adventures and showing them the wonders of the world.

“Badass Tents are for people who live for the next adventure,” explained Badass Tents Founder Roger Davis. “They demand the best from themselves and the products they choose. They want something that not only performs, but looks great doing so – period.”

Badass Tents® CONVOY™ Roof Rack Tent Features Classic Off-road Style & Modern Performance

Badass Tents® launches its CONVOY model Made-in-USA high-performance rooftop tents with classic off-road looks and performance. Discerning outdoor enthusiasts who live the “go big or go home” life will appreciate this next-level tent designed to look like a classic expedition roof rack with features that enhance performance and enjoyment.

Badass Tents is disrupting the rooftop tent industry with 5 new patents filed in 2021 on its revolutionary engineering and designs. Prior to the Badass Tent filings, there were only 11 live patents worldwide in the category. Patents include radical industry-leading features like modular assembly to reduce transport costs, moon roof, streamlined roof rack design that integrates like it’s a part of the vehicle, utility case design and more.

All Badass Tents (also known as BA Tents®) take 1 minute to set up and feature an aerodynamic low-profile design to fit in your garage and have no noticeable wind noise or loss in gas mileage while on the road. They are the lightest, thinnest hard top tents on the market today at 122 lbs. and 5” tall from the top of the vehicle. Using their 56+ years of plastics manufacturing experience, they are manufactured in San Diego, CA with a durable, high-gloss coextruded plastic cover that looks like an OEM paint job mounted on a space age, extruded aluminum frame with no external latches or straps to give this an OEM showroom look and feel.

The Badass Tents’ Convoy RTT includes a full 40”x72” skyward moonroof with 4 large windows that give an unobstructed 360+ degree view. The Convoy’s ultra-slim profile design built using a high-strength extruded aluminum frame will allow most vehicles to pull into residential garages and parking structures without having to remove the rooftop tent.*

Outstanding vehicle integration keeps BA Tent’s RTTs snug to the vehicle for better daily commuter performance and while in route to your off-road adventure. With its lower center of gravity and weight, you’ll never feel it while crawling over rocks and racing across the Baja Desert. The enhanced aesthetic is another Badass bonus that overlanders and campers alike value.

A Soft Approach to Slow Pitch Jigging: The Sea Falcon® Slow Squid

Sometimes a soft approach is better, and the Sea Falcon® Slow Squid offers a softer alternative for slow pitch jigging. Hand-crafted with soft silicon rubber with an embedded lead weight, the Slow Squid provides incredibly realistic lively action that cannot be achieved with traditional metal jigs or conventional soft baits.

The embedded lead weight balances the Slow Squid for a horizontal fall and allows you to fish it like a metal jig, but its soft silicone surface provides all the bells and whistles of a soft bait. Its small shape allows you to fish in deep water, where its luminous glow and undulating action will attract and entice the most finicky finfish. Choose from 8 glow-in-the-dark colors.

To ensure you can fine-tune your presentation to get the best performance from your jigs, Sea Falcon has developed a specification chart for each jig indicating the correct fall speed, weight balance, pause time, current, pulling resistance and slide width, and maps them out on an easy to understand chart on their website: www.seafalconusa.com.

Every Sea Falcon lure is based on a hand-carved original created by CEO and Chief Designer Tetsuya Itou, one of Japan’s foremost lure designers. Based in Hamamatsu, Japan, they operate under the ‘Total Package’ concept, combining all processes from planning and development to manufacturing all under one roof. Sea Falcon ensures supreme quality and continues to provide innovative products to the fishing world.

Gamakatsu® hooks are specifically designed to compliment Sea Falcon lures and plugs. Gamakatsu hooks are made with the same level of craftsmanship and attention to detail, equally raising the performance of any Sea Falcon lure.

How To Form a Marksmanship Team, From Someone Who’s Done It

As part of its mission, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has been dedicated to the development and longevity of youth shooting sports around the country. With several junior programs currently established in each state, aspiring young marksmen are fortunate to have a number of venues available to continue their growth – yet, there’s always room for more.

The thought of starting a team can be daunting, but one new coach local to Camp Perry, where the CMP Headquarters is located, knows what it’s like to form a fresh group of athletes from the ground up and gives his own advice on how others may do the same.

Muzik’s interest began through watching his daughter, Claudia (pictured here), in her own marksmanship journey.

Matt Muzik of Green Springs, Ohio, is the head coach of the American Legion Post 295 Marksmanship Team – newly created in June 2020. Currently, the team is comprised of 13 athletes, ages 8 to 15, an assistant coach and five board members. The group competes in 60 shot and three-position air rifle, 60 shot pistol and smallbore.

“I love helping kids, and the reward you get is something money can’t buy,” Muzik said. “One of the biggest reasons I started a team was because of my daughter, Claudia Muzik, and her passion for this sport.”

The American Legion Post 295 Marksmanship Team currently consists of 13 athletes, ages 8 to 15.

Muzik has been working hard at being a marksmanship leader for nearly a decade now. Over the last eight years, he has been certified as a Level 2 NRA coach and has a background check for both USA Shooting Safe Sport and American Legion Safe Sport. He was also involved with the Ottawa County Shooting Stars, a local Camp Perry team, for about five years.

“Federal Ammunition is thrilled to have been invited to participate in the creation of this video,” said Jason Nash VP Marketing at Federal, Ammunition. “Full-Blown Tactical does something very few other videos even attempt—it pulls you in and lets you feel the exhilaration that comes from scenario-based training exercises. We’ve had a long relationship with Viridian and Springfield, and this project is proof of how well we work together.”

“The drone cinematography in ‘Full-Blown Tactical’ is the perfect way to bring viewers into this experience,” said Steve Kramer Vice President of Marketing at Springfield Armory, Inc. “We’ve been working with Viridian and Federal for years, but most of our collaborations stay concealed. This project brings our long working relationship into the open in a truly explosive way. Springfield Armory is proud to have provided the host platforms for such a monumental and creative project.”

“Full-Blown Tactical” is live on social channels now.
