Remington Announces New Partnership with Earth Blinds

Remington Ammunition is proud to announce its latest licensee partnership, Earth Blinds. The brands are coming together to bring an exciting line of hunting blinds for the ultimate in field advantage. The groundbreaking blinds are set to hit the market August 2023.

“Earth Blinds has been producing American-made, quality hunting blinds since its inception,” said Danny Evans, Remington’s Director of Global Licensing. “The unique application process truly sets them apart from any other blind on the market. Remington is extremely pleased to be partnering with Earth Blinds to bring these products to Remington fans.”

As the world’s first natural hunting blind, Earth Blinds utilizes a patented, real dirt finish and is fully adaptable to any environment. The dirt exterior allows the blind to go unnoticed as UL light is absorbed instead of reflected back to the animal. The exterior application adds to the natural aesthetics and scent of the blind, allowing it to blend in naturally when you need it most.

“Earth Blinds is very much looking forward to a successful launch later this year,” said Scott Maes, President of Earth Blinds, LLC. “We are extremely excited to be partnering with Remington to bring a completely customizable blind to the market. These new blinds aren’t like anything that’s been done before. We truly appreciate the opportunity to be partnering with a company like Remington to see it come to fruition.”

Remington fans already know where to find the top performing ammunition to get the job done during deer season, and can now boast an even greater edge come this fall.

Alpine Innovations Dual Sling Review

We have had this sling in our hands since just after SHOTSHOW in 2022 and we took almost a year to fully test it across a variety of different guns.  Honestly, this kind of fell through the cracks of our gun safe because rifles came in, got cleaned and this strap was rotated to the muzzleloader which got left in a gun case for several months.  However the fact that I took it off one rifle and moved it to another one shows that I liked it enough to actually use it in the field on more than one location.

The Alpine Innovations Dual Sling is a great piece of gear for anyone looking for more than just a standard sling. It’s lightweight and easy to use, making it perfect for taking on longer hikes.  I liked that the straps are a little rubbery or that they feel a little sticky and stick it does. The straps are adjustable and comfortable, allowing for a custom fit for any size and you can have it across one shoulder, over the neck or across one shoulder and the strap over you neck and you can use the quick-release buckle for an easy on and off.  The Dual Sling is comfortable enough to use all day and we plan to purchase a few more of these as a part of our kit.  With the quick release buckle it is easy to use this with a pack and then quickly get the rifle of your shoulder and on to sticks.  The Alpine Innovations Dual Sling is a great choice for anyone looking to get out and be ready to do some serious hunting.  This sling comes with Q(QuickRelease) Swivels, QD(Quick Detach) or no swivels depending on your needs

When it comes to hiking with rifles, rifle slings can be incredibly important. Not only do they provide extra stability while aiming, they also keep the rifle close at hand in case of an emergency. Rifle Slings can also comfortable to wear, reduce fatigue, and provide hands-free convenience to keep you hiking and glassing safely. The Alpine Innovations Dual Sling is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable sling to take on their next outing and can work with both a rifle or a shotgun.

6 Reasons You Should Use a Rifle Sling

Increased Stability: A rifle sling helps keep your rifle steady while aiming, giving you greater accuracy and control. (Pro Tip: Wrap your forearm up in the sling before you set your rifle against your shooting rest or shooting sticks for extra support)Quick Access: Having your rifle close at-hand makes it easy to access when you see game and can help you keep it in control should you be falling.Comfort: A properly fitted rifle sling will help reduce fatigue, making it easier to carry your rifle for longer periods.Hands-Free: A rifle sling allows you to keep your hands free for other tasks, such as climbing or navigating.Versatility: Rifle slings can be used for a variety of activities, from hunting to target shooting.

Safety:  Rifle Slings keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction at all times which is extremely important when hunting in groups

Whitetail Hunting & Smokeless Tobacco: Rituals in Hunting

For centuries, hunting has been an integral part of human culture, deeply rooted in tradition and rich with rituals that have been passed down through generations. Within the hunting community, whitetail deer hunting remains one of the most popular pursuits in North America.

This highly anticipated annual event is accompanied by various rituals and customs, including the use of smokeless tobacco products for some, “blooding” for others, and many more. In this article, we will explore the connection between whitetail hunting and these rituals, highlighting the cultural significance of this classic American pastime.

Whitetail Hunting: A Tradition That Transcends Time

The white-tailed deer, also known as the Virginia deer or simply the whitetail, is a medium-sized deer native to the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central America. Whitetail hunting has been a longstanding tradition, providing sustenance and resources to many communities for centuries. Today, it continues to be a popular pastime, offering a source of recreation, bonding, and camaraderie among hunters.

As the hunting season approaches, many hunters eagerly prepare for the annual ritual, cleaning and readying their weapons, scouting the woods for deer signs, and setting up tree stands or ground blinds. This preparation is crucial not only for a successful hunt but also for maintaining the hunting tradition alive and well.

Setting up the Blind

Setting up a deer blind is a ritual that serves as a critical prelude to the hunting season. The blind, whether it’s a simple ground layout or an elevated platform, is strategically placed to provide optimal cover and an unobstructed view of the surroundings.

Oklahoma Senate Votes on Bill to Open “Velvet Buck” Archery Season

Oklahoma Senate Bill 910 would create a nine-day archery velvet buck season, in late August. The season would begin the last Saturday morning before the last weekend of August. It would continue to run through the Sunday evening of the last weekend of August. Senate Bill 910 states that each hunter could only harvest one velvet buck per season. In turn, that buck would count towards the regular season’s two-buck limit.

Velvet bucks have become a coveted hunt for many hunters. Deer, along with other Cervidae species, undergo an antler growth period. During this growth stage the antlers are covered in a velvet. For they have not calcified yet. Currently, only a small handful of states have special velvet buck season. A few participating states include North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Washington, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Some states do offer special issued tags or permits. Oksentate.gov, reported, Sen. Stephens said, “Oklahoma’s tourism industry would greatly benefit from introducing a velvet buck season as only a few states offer this season. Hunters from across the country will be looking to travel to our state to take part in the first season and many thereafter.”

Oklahoma’s News On 6 interviewed Oklahoma Senator Stephens, Senator Stephens stated, though it’s not specified in the bill, it’s likely, “the velvet buck season would only be open on private land.” The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation said about 30% of hunters rely on public land for hunting. Sen. Stephens said, “there would be opportunity to expand and open it to public land in years to come.” He went on to say Oklahomans would have priority with 90% of all velvet buck permits going to Oklahoma resident hunters.

The Oklahoma Senate has voted to approve SB 910 opening a “velvet buck” season. The bill is now pushed to the House of Representatives for the next step of approval. If Senate Bill 910 becomes law, the Oklahoma Wildlife Commission would issue regulations. However, the new regulations and season would likely not come into effect until the 2024-2025 deer season.

Benefiting Imperiled Wetlands through Multi-Partner Collaboration

NWTF and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service cooperative forester Sid Munford highlights the importance of the agency’s Wetland Reserve Easement program and how it is making a landscape-scale conservation impact in the Natural State.

The Mississippi Alluvial Valley, a massive swath of land that stems from Ohio and into the Gulf of Mexico, once supported 24 million acres of floodplain forest, swamp, slough and riverine habitat. However, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the area is now considered the Southeast’s most deforested region, with more than 75% of forests lost to development.

To turn the tides of habitat loss, the NWTF is continuing its multiyear partnership with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the NRCS to bring the Mississippi Alluvial Valley back to its former glory in Arkansas. This work is made possible thanks to a grant from the National Wildlife Foundation’s Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley Restoration Fund.

The Wetland Reserve Enhancement Partnership facilitates the essential work happening on private lands within the Mississippi Alluvial Valley in Arkansas. The WRE is a voluntary program through which the NRCS enters into agreements with partners – in this instance, the NWTF – to leverage resources to carry out high-priority wetland protection, restoration and enhancement and to improve wildlife habitat. The program is a component of the agency’s Agricultural Conservation Easement Program.

Since 2014, the NRCS in Arkansas has enrolled and restored 278,000 acres of wetlands and bottomland hardwoods under the ACEP-WRE program. Sid Munford is the cooperative forester delivering much of this critical work for the NWTF and the NRCS.

Liberty Ammunition offers free ammo for Idaho firing squad

Liberty Ammunition is recognized as the most lethal ammunition available.  Recently, Idaho amended their methods of execution by adding the firing squad as an  alternative method of execution when lethal injection is unavailable.

As a result, Liberty Ammunition has offered to donate ammunition to the firing squads of  the great state of Idaho, assisting them in a time of budget constraints and increased  violence in our nation.

Gary Ramey – CEO of Liberty Ammunition noted “Americans were stunned in 2022 by the  tragedy at University of Idaho. As a father, this crime in particular needs resolution.  We are more than happy to donate ammunition to allow Idaho to carry out lawfully ordered  executions now and in the future.”

Representative Bruce D. Skaug of Idaho sponsored the bill and noted “H186 has now  passed the Idaho Senate and House with a veto proof majority. The state may now  more likely carry out justice, as determined by our judicial system, against those who  have committed first degree murder. AGLOW 2023 CONFERENCE REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Few places are more beautiful in mid-September than northern Minnesota, so what better place to host a gathering of outdoor content creators and brands than on the shore of Lake Bemidji? Registration is now open for the 2023 AGLOW Annual Conference, September 17-21, at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Bemidji.

“It’s tough to think of a better location to host the conference than a facility that is right on the shore of one of the best fisheries in the upper Midwest. Bemidji is delivering exactly that. We aren’t close to the water, we are on the water at our host facility. We even have a boat launch, literally, in the parking lot. Outdoor opportunities abound in Bemidji, and we don’t have to go far to find them,” Mark Smith, AGLOW Executive Director, commented.
