Each element of the new Field Issue was designed to create the ultimate lightweight, do-it-all binocular built to explore any environment and stand out with Nocs’ distinctive, nature-inspired style and colorways. The Field Issue features HiFi Fully Multi Coated Lenses and a BaK4 Prism which provide a wide, bright, edge-to-edge viewing experience, and the ultra-smooth and precise oversized focus wheel offers exceptional central focusing and exacting visual adjustments from 9.3ft to infinity. Reloading Made Easy with the Hornady Lock-N-Load® Classic™ Kit

Whether a reloading novice or a seasoned veteran who values simplicity and function, the Hornady Lock-N-Load® Classic will prepare shooters to rock the range. Reloading cartridges can save money and, better yet, let reloaders optimize accuracy by precisely creating the load the rifle will shoot the best.

The simple, effective engineering in this single-stage press gives reloaders complete control, dependably enabling the precision and consistency demanded. The uniquely angled, solid cast frame is designed to ensure perfect die and shell holder alignment and allow reloaders to see and access the cartridge throughout the process. The frame is guaranteed never to break or fail.

The Lock-N-Load® Quick-Change Bushing System lets reloaders swap out dies in seconds, enabling quick and easy caliber changes when reloading cartridges for multiple firearms. Set the die and tighten the Sure-Loc ring onto the Lock-N-Load® bushing with a single twist. The six locking lugs on the die and press bushings hold dies in stable, secure alignment. A rubber O-ring on the die bushings gives reloaders a better feel when the die is inserted, holding it tight against the locking lugs to prevent accidental loosening. To change calibers, twist the die counterclockwise, remove it, and insert the next preset Lock-N-Load® die and bushing. Because they remain locked in their Lock-N-Load® bushings, dies will remain exactly as they were set.

Leverage, consistently applied, ensures proper bullet and primer seating. The Lock-N-Load Classic’s solid steel arm rotates on a steel pin running completely through the frame. The long arm gets a boost from the Power-Pac Linkage, multiplying the leverage and reducing operator fatigue. The ergonomic, large, ball-style grip also reduces effort while improving comfort.

Removing and replacing spent primers is a breeze, much easier than the process associated with old-style primer arms. The spent primer ejects at the top of the stroke. Then add a new primer to the Positive Priming System, which self-aligns to feed, and insert the primer at the bottom of the stroke where leverage is best. The self-aligning primer arm allows easy manual primer insertion without raising the handle. All the work is done at the bottom of the stroke. Small and large punches are included.

Huk’s Drew Benton Completes a Major Comeback to Win the Bassmaster Elite at Lake Murray

Huk performance fishing gear is committed to designing clothing for the hardcore angler, and no angler embodies that commitment more than Drew Benton. With a phenomenal four-day total of 87 lbs flat, Benton overcame a slow Saturday to pull off a miraculous comeback. After just a 14-pound semifinal, Benton weighed his five-bass limit on championship Sunday at 26 lbs and 7 oz for a big finish, securing his second career blue trophy.

“I woke up four times last night just mad,” he described after a disappointing Saturday weigh-in. “I woke up, looked at the weights, and was about 5 pounds back. Someone weighed in 26 pounds this week. That was my goal weight, 25 or 26.”

Drew Benton needed every ounce of belief to pull off the impressive feat to win on Sunday. “I started to — not doubt myself — but wondered if it was ever going to happen again,” said Benton, who earned his first Elite Series victory five years ago on Lake Travis in Texas. “I finished second in an Elite, and in an Open I should have won. Am I snakebit? Can I close the deal anymore? So, this feels great.”

“Drew personifies our vision of a Huk angler. It’s clear that he loves this sport, as well as the opportunity to represent our brand on the national stage,” said Paige Hill-Murphy, Community Manager for Huk Performance Fishing. “We are very excited about this win for him and his family and look forward to the rest of the year.”

Benton relies on Huk’s clothing to keep him cool and comfortable on the water all year. From shirts, pants, outerwear, rainwear, and footwear, Huk has anglers covered regardless of season or pursuit.

14th Annual Missouri Governor’s Youth Turkey Hunt

The Annual Missouri Governor’s hunt is a cooperative effort between Gov. Mike Parson, the Conservation Federation of Missouri, the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Missouri Department of Conservation, Friends of the NRA and private landowners.

The 2023 Governor’s Youth Turkey Hunt marks the 14th year of this special event. The hunt serves as the state’s recognition of the importance of natural resources and outdoor recreation to the citizens of Missouri. It is also a celebration of Missouri’s leading role in recruiting, retaining and reactivating hunters.

From left, Bill and William Eckelkamp and MDC Comissioner Steven Harrison.

The youth started the hunt by attending an informational session on turkeys and turkey calling prior to the youth opener. The novices learned basics of calling and hunting etiquette, as well as other essential information to be aware of when pursuing wild turkeys. They also had an opportunity to pattern their shotguns and learn about hunter safety. The dedicated staff at the Missouri Department of Conservation hosted the clinic.

Kendrah Box is pictured with her guide and NWTF Missouri State Chapter President Kevin Hess.

The night before the opener, festivities took place at the governor’s mansion. Representatives from the partnering agencies and organizations spoke briefly about the event’s importance and elevated the anticipation of the upcoming hunt.

Speakers included Kevin Hess, NWTF Missouri State Chapter president; Sara Parker Pauley, Missouri Department of Conservation director; Gregg Pearre, Friends of the NRA State Fund chairman; Tyler Schwartze, executive director of the Conservation Federation of Missouri; and Rep. Bruce Sassmann, 61st District. The youth were then each given a custom call made by Jim Clark before taking their picture with Pauley and NWTF District Biologist John Burk. From there, youth dispersed across the state to meet with generous landowners and mentors to notch their first turkey tag.

SECOND AMENDMENT FOUNDATION SUES WASHINGTON OVER SEMI-AUTO BAN

BELLEVUE, WA – Responding quickly to the adoption of House Bill 1240 by the Washington Legislature and Gov. Jay Inslee signing it into law, the Second Amendment Foundation today filed a federal lawsuit challenging the new statute on Second and Fourteenth Amendment grounds, and is asking the court for preliminary and permanent injunctions.

The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The case is known as Hartford v. Ferguson. Joining SAF are the Firearms Policy Coalition, Sporting Systems, a Hazel Dell retailer, and three private citizens, Brett Bass, Douglas Mitchell and Lawrence Hartford, for whom the case is named. They are represented by Seattle attorney Joel Ard.

Named as defendants are Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, State Patrol Chief John R. Batiste, Kitsap County Sheriff John Gese and County Prosecutor Chad M. Enright; Kittitas County Sheriff Clayton Myers and County Prosecutor Greg Zempel; Clark County Sheriff John Horch and County Prosecutor Tony Golik, and Snohomish County Sheriff Adam Fortnoy and County Prosecutor Jason Cummings, all in their official capacities.

“The State has enacted a flat prohibition on the manufacture, sale, import and distribution of many types of firearms, inaccurately labeled as ‘assault weapons,’ which are owned by millions of ordinary citizens across the country,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “In the process, the state has criminalized a common and important means of self-defense, the modern semiautomatic rifle. The state has put politics ahead of constitutional rights, and is penalizing law-abiding citizens while this legislation does nothing to arrest and prosecute criminals who misuse firearms in defiance of all existing gun control laws. It is absurd.”

He noted that SAF already has two legal actions in progress, challenging Washington gun laws. One lawsuit concerns the magazine ban and the other challenges the ban on sales of semiautomatic rifles to young adults.

LOCAL WATERS- SUMMER FLY FISHING IN NORTH CAROLINA WITH WILD WATER FLY FISHING

WATAUGA RIVER SUMMER ADVENTURE

Fly Fishing in North Carolina is a special thing; it is something that can be done year-round, and with each season comes its own beauty. When Old Man Winter finally decides to pack up and head on out, we are greeted with beautiful summer sunshine, blooming flowers, and hungry trout ready to eat. Fly Fishing in the summer months in North Carolina is an epic way to spend the day. The best part is that you don’t need much gear to get out on the river and have a great day. From May until late August, my gear is very minimal, usually consisting of Chaco sandals, a pair of shorts, my Patagonia fishing shirt, and vest, and my Wild Water fly rod and reel. The river’s temperature varies in those months between the low 40s to mid-50s depending on where you’re at. However, those water temperatures sure do make the trout active. In the beginning of spring, some of the rivers around western North Carolina are stocked with trout by the local fisheries department, depending on how far along you are in your angler career. Some people prefer fishing the rivers that are stocked, and some prefer venturing out and finding waters that are natural and not stocked. If this is your first time fly fishing, and you want to have better chances at getting your first catch, I suggest looking online at your local fisheries and seeing what rivers are being stocked and when. Doing this is just going to help with your progression, and as you gain more knowledge, you can start venturing further out in search of wild mountain trout.

One cool summer morning, I set out for a little day trip on the Watauga River, specifically seeking out big rainbow trout. When I’m targeting bigger rainbows, I have a few sections I tend to go to on the Watauga River, where I’ve had luck in the past. During this trip, I brought my go-to flies with me, a couple of green drakes, and my blue quill mayflies for the big hungry ones. I quickly loaded up the Land Cruiser and headed to my spot. When I got there, I noticed that the river’s clarity was perfect; standing beside my truck, I could see a couple of brook trout making their way upstream. When the fish are very active, you know it’s going to be a good day. I unloaded my gear and rigged my Wild Water 3/4 weight rod, and tied on a blue quill mayfly, and started making my way up the river. Anytime I’m going after big rainbow trout, I always take the hunter’s approach by keeping low and quiet because the last thing I want to do is spook one of these beautiful fish while just trying to find a place to cast.

I found a perfect spot on the river where it dog-eared left, and there was a solid log laying on the riverbed that I decided to use as cover to conceal my shadow. I set up right there and began to cast. Within a matter of minutes, I was hooked up and fighting with a good-sized rainbow trout. I kept the tip of my rod pointed up, and I began to reel. As I brought the fish closer to me, I could see the beautiful colors flashing as he fought and resisted going into my net. As I pulled him from the net, I was speechless. I stood there in disbelief; this was the biggest, most beautiful rainbow trout I had ever caught in my life. This fish measured approximately 14 inches. I was beyond ecstatic to catch my personal record, but overall, just thankful to have caught such an amazing fish. I gently released this bow back into the river, feeling emotions of gratitude and happiness. When the stars align, and you’re able to catch a fish that brings you this much joy, you will always and forever continue to chase that feeling wherever it takes you. That feeling, to this day, continues to take me to places I’ve always dreamed of. As you gain more knowledge and skills for this craft, allow yourself to venture out and find new streams, rivers, or creeks and embrace those adventures; even if you don’t catch a single fish, just take in those moments and remember to leave these waters cleaner, and better than you found it for the next angler after their dream catch.

KOR CASES ADDS NEW GUN CASE INSERT 3S

Makes Medium-Sized Cases Universal

KOR Cases, known for developing technologically advanced firearm storage solutions for outdoor enthusiasts, has added a new gun case insert to its expanding line of Vacuum Rigidizing Structure (VRS®) universal storage products. The new KOR Cases 3S Medium Universal VRS Gun Case insert is available at KORCases.com.

“The patented KOR Cases 3S Medium VRS Insert customizes case interiors and secures contents by conforming around everything inside,” said G.P. Searle, Founder of KOR Cases. “By replacing the bottom layer of foam with the VRS insert, you can use your existing gun case to transport any guns in your collection without cutting, plucking, or paying for foam. Plus, since the system prevents shifting during travel, you don’t have to remove accessories or re-zero your optics,” he added.

Operating the system is fast and easy, said Searle. “Think of the VRS insert as a moldable bean bag. When it is filled with air, it looks and feels like a pillow in the bottom of your case. Place your guns and gear atop the insert, then use the included pump to remove the air or ‘pull the vacuum.’ You’ll see the soft, pliable cushion change into a solid structure conforming to whatever is on top,” he explained. “At that point, the VRS insert is in a solid state and ready for transportation. Attach the pump and add air back into the VRS insert to utilize the insert for different gear, making it adjustable again.”
