SAF WELCOMES NRA MOTIONTO JOIN IN ITS LAWSUIT v. ATF

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today said it welcomes the National Rifle Association’s request to join in a federal lawsuit filed by SAF and its associates in a challenge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ new “arm brace rule.”

NRA announced the effort Wednesday on its website, explaining the move was to obtain injunctive relief for its members to stop the ATF from enforcing its new rule – which totally reversed the agency’s previous position that pistol braces did not convert pistols into short-barreled rifles, making them subject to regulation under the 1934 National Firearms Act. The case is known as SAF, et.al. v. ATF, et. al.

On May 31, U.S. District Judge Jane J. Boyle in the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division, confirmed the scope of a preliminary injunction she had issued in the case applied not only to SAF, but its members as well. “The Court confirms that its Preliminary Injunction Order applies to both the Second Amendment Foundation, Inc. and its members.”

The NRA announcement confirmed the organization “is going to court to obtain preliminary, and ultimately permanent, injunctive relief restraining Defendants from enforcing the ‘Factoring Criteria for Firearms with Attached ‘Stabilizing Braces’ (the “Final Rule”) against law-abiding NRA members.”

“We welcome the NRA’s motion to join in our lawsuit,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “If their motion is granted—and we certainly have no objection—it will mean more American gun owners will enjoy the same protection SAF members were granted under Judge Boyle’s preliminary injunction order. It only makes sense NRA would want the same protection for its members.”

Lower Basin States Announce Plan to Conserve the Colorado River

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — In late May, the governors of Arizona, California and Nevada made a significant announcement regarding the conservation of the Colorado River. This plan, developed by the Colorado River Lower Basin States, aims to safeguard the river and mitigate the effects of the ongoing drought.

By reducing water usage and implementing sustainable practices, the plan intends to conserve 3 million acre-feet of water over the next three years. In return for their commitment, cities, irrigation districts and Native American tribes in these states will receive federal funding. This agreement marks a positive step forward in addressing the overuse and challenges faced by the lower basin states.

The Colorado River is a vital resource in the western United States, serving seven states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. These states, along with numerous Native American tribes and communities, rely on the river for water supply, hydropower, recreation, fish and wildlife habitat, and various other benefits. However, the history of the Colorado River has been marred by issues stemming from overallocation and the impacts of climate change.

The Colorado River Compact, established in 1922, divided the river’s use among various stakeholders. Unfortunately, this division exceeded the river’s typical flow, leading to overallocation and overuse. In subsequent agreements, the overuse continued, aggravating the strain on the river’s resources. Compounding the issue is the escalating impact of climate change, which is exacerbating the basin’s heat and dryness, further reducing the water supply.

While there has been a decline in water supply from the upstream upper basin states over the past two decades, the lower basin states persist in consuming water at an unsustainable rate. On average, they use 1.2 million acre-feet more water than what they receive from the upper basin. This imbalance threatens the long-term sustainability of the Colorado River and necessitates collaborative efforts to rectify the situation.

North Dakota Waterfowl Survey Shows Wet Conditions, Slight Increase in Breeding Ducks

BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — Extreme snowfall last winter across central and eastern North Dakota has set up the state for good duck production this spring.

Results from North Dakota Game and Fish Department’s annual breeding waterfowl and wetland survey reveal good to excellent conditions for breeding ducks.

“We had a lot of snow last winter and ended up with our 7th-highest wetland index, which is a little bit less than last year (2nd highest ever), but still very, very good,” said Mike Szymanski, migratory game bird supervisor for the NDGFD.

The total duck number was estimated just above 3.4 million, a slight increase over the breeding population from 2022. While ducks are up overall, mallards are down 10 percent at 640,000, with blue-winged teal also slightly lower but still a strong 925,000 in the state.

Szymanski reported increases in redheads, canvasbacks, and shovelers over 2022, but the most pleasant surprise is a 40 percent increase in breeding pintails, bringing their breeding populations in North Dakota back to numbers not seen in the state since the 2000s.

Federal Legislation Introduced to Take Kids Fishing

Bill would provide opportunities for younger generations to connect with the marine environment

On June 7, 2023, U.S. Representatives Maria Salazar (R-Fla.) and Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Calif.) and Senators Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) introduced the Youth Coastal Fishing Program Act of 2023.

The bill would create a grant program within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for projects that take children fishing in the ocean or Great Lakes, with priority given to projects that serve underserved communities. This legislation is in line with the American Sportfishing Association’s (ASA’s) goal of introducing new anglers – particularly young people – to recreational fishing.

“Recreational fishing provides substantial physical and mental health benefits, but unfortunately many young people – particularly in underserved communities – face significant barriers in accessing the outdoors,” said Mike Leonard, the American Sportfishing Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “The grants provided through this bill will go a long way to remove those barriers and help children develop a love of fishing. We thank Representatives Salazar and Kamlager-Dove and Senators Wicker and Cantwell for their work on the Youth Coastal Fishing Program Act and are excited about the generations of new anglers it will help create.”

“As someone who knows and recognizes the importance of the marine and aquatic environment, it is critical to provide younger generations of Americans across the country, especially minority Americans, the opportunity to learn firsthand about our seas, oceans, lakes, and outdoors, as well as provide them with the tools to enjoy them,” said Rep. Salazar.

N8 Tactical Introduces the Magna-Clip Magazine Carrier

SPRINGFIELD, MO – N8 Tactical, an innovative holster company with a mission to provide quality products with superior comfort for all day, everyday carry, has developed another innovative solution for the armed-and-ready personal defense community. The company’s new Magna-Clip magazine carrier  eliminates the bulk and printing issues of conventional magazine carriers with a design that securely and discretely stows a spare magazine inside your pants pocket.

The Magna-Clip is a minimalist magazine carrier that utilizes three exceptionally strong neodymium-grade magnets secured in a single-wing carrier body. The open, L-shaped body accommodates a wide range of metal or metal-lined magazine designs and sizes. Simply place the magazine against the carrier and the magnets maintain firm retention of the magazine until withdrawn by a firm pull.

Backing the Magna-Clip carrier is a strong, spring-steel pocket clip. Its minimalist size and subdued black oxide finish looks like a pocket knife clip, so no one knows you’re carrying a loaded magazine.

To use, secure the Magna-Clip into your weak-side pocket. Orient the magazine with the bullets facing forward and slip the magazine into your pocket and against the Magna-Clip. In this position, the magazine can be easily grasped and withdrawn when needed.

The Magna-Clip is also ideal when making a tactical reload (removing a partially loaded magazine from the gun and inserting a full magazine). Just slip the partially loaded mag into your pocket and the Magna-Clip will draw it into place, ready for re-use if necessary.

AG Composites’ Custom Rifle Stocks: Designed for The Most Demanding Hunters and Competition Shooters

In any athletic endeavor, equipment matters. You won’t find the best golfers, bowlers, or ballplayers using gear that has not been modified to meet their exact body size and type, as well as the specific requirements of their sport and their own personal quirks. This is also true with competition pistol and shotgun shooters, whose guns have been custom fitted to allow them to maximize their performance under the most difficult conditions imaginable.

Rifle shooters – whether hunters or competition shooters – are no different. The rifle must fit them exactly and the stock precisely inletted for the barreled action, , or consistent precision accuracy is not possible. That’s where a custom rifle stock is a foundational part of the rifle build.

“At AG Composites, we design and manufacture advanced composite rifle stocks for both hunters and the world’s top shooters,” said Matt Tandy, AG Composites owner. “As a veteran-owned company that employs dozens of U.S. military vets, we know how important it is to make that first shot count.

“Our company is built on technology using modern design software from Solidworks and AutoDesk to create Computer Aided Design (CAD) models of every stock we manufacture,” Tandy continued. “We only use the highest-quality carbon fiber, epoxy, and paint products and a proprietary manufacturing process that is the ‘secret sauce’ behind our ability to produce best-in-class stocks with delivery times that are a fraction of our competitors. At the same time, 90 percent of the work on an AG Composite stock is hands-on craftmanship. The end result is a rifle stock that becomes the bedrock of the most accurate rifles in the world.”

The company offers several base stock models, including the AG Alpine Hunter, AG Adjustable Hunter, AG Carbon K2, AG Sportsman, AG CAT (Carbon All Terrain), AG Chalk Branch, AG Adjustable Chalk Branch, AG Visigoth, AG Armor, AG Adjustable Armor, AG Privateer, and AG Ferrata. You can quickly and easily customize the design to meet your specific needs on the company website, https://agcomposites.com, by calling 256-723-8381, or emailing them at [email protected]. At AG Composites’ main manufacturing facility, the company focuses on producing stocks for the Remington Model 700 action and Remington clones. Shooters interested in other inlets such as Savage, Winchester, Browning, Ruger, Weatherby, etc., can find a list of gun builders who inlet for those actions on the company website.

Quality-Built Firminator Makes Putting in Food Plots Hassle Free

Many things in life are complicated, but putting in food plots on hunting land doesn’t have to be one of those complex things. Hunters can make it easy by putting food plots in with the Firminator. It’s a high-quality, American-made piece of farming equipment that discs plots, plants the seed at the rate wanted, and culti-packs the soil afterward.

It’s an all-in-one implement that hooks up to a tractor (or ATV for the ATV model). It’s hassle-free by design: set it for the seed size being planted, and simply drive the tractor and the Firminator does its work.

Even if someone has never planted food plots, the Firminator’s easy-to-use design and easy-to-adjust settings produce great results. The people at Firminator believe this should be made to work as efficiently and precisely as possible, and this belief is part of their overall quality mission. If someone does have farming experience, they’ll appreciate the quality parts and durability of the Firminator – its ruggedness reduces the risk of breakdown and decreases the long-term cost of land management.

Firminator is high-quality, and Ranew’s Outdoor Equipment makes the Firminator in America. Having every step of the process under control at the American factory assures quality and tests the Firminator under real-world conditions. Many employees at Firminator use the product themselves on their hunting property and have planted their food plots with Firminators for years. They’ve worked the bugs out long ago, so customers don’t have to.

With Firminator, the reliability of food-plot equipment does not have to be a risk. The heavy-duty discs, which can adjust to a wide range of soil types and planting tasks, will prep the ground; the Accu-Seed system will meter whatever size seed is needed at the rate one wishes it to be planted. The professional-grade culti-packer assures good seed-to-soil contact for optimal seed germination.

Upping the Odds with Multiple Rods Millennium Marine Rod Tree and Rod Pod

Fishing with multiple rods from a boat should be simple; using the right rod holders makes it easy. Whether trolling for walleye along rocky ledges and underwater weed beds or pulling lures deep for big lake trout, quality rod holders are critical for success. Utilizing a fully adjustable rod holder, built using quality components and premium construction, the Millennium Marine Spyderlok Rod Pod and Millennium Marine Spyderlok Rod Tree provide anglers with a rock-solid platform that’s built to fish with no fuss.

Constructed utilizing anodized low-glare finished aluminum and stainless steel hardware, the Spyderlok Rod Pod and Rod Tree are unfazed by saltwater corrosion, rust, and UV rays. Millennium Marine’s patented Spyderlok technology ensures precise, secure locking angles for its fully adjustable rod holders. This critical feature gives anglers the security they need to put baits where they belong confidently.

Spyderlok rod holder tubes are designed to be oversized, allowing for easy rod removal when a lunker strikes. Heavy rubber boots cover metallic edges on the Spyderlok rod holders, protecting rod handles and fishing reels from damage. A specialized ridge within the rod holder tube prevents fishing rods from turning in the holder, keeping the fishing line pulling against the eyelets, a critical detail for successful trolling and hook sets. The Spyderlok Rod Tree easily mounts to the Millennium Marine R-101 base plate or TS series track system with no required tools. When using the TS-103 track system, the R-400 and R-401 will adapt to most popular Northern tracks today.

Keeping rods secure and lines tangle-free is top of mind when presenting multiple fishing rods under various fishing opportunities and techniques. Millennium Marine Spyderlok Rod Tree and Spyderlok Rod Pod are just the ticket for drifting baits off the bottom for catfish or trolling for saltwater predators.

One-year warranty. MSRP for the Spyderlok Rod Tree is $229.99, and the Spyderlok Rod Pod is $106.99. More information is available at www.millenniummarine.com.

The Warthog A4- Evolution of a Classic!

Warthog Sharpener’s most recent countertop addition is the A4, a revamp of the legendary Warthog V-Sharp system used in the Classic II and the original Classic sharpener. However, they’ve taken it a step further in true Warthog style. Warthog Sharpeners has added a 15-degree angle to its new A4 model, offering four settings to cover all the bases for your knife needs (15°, 20°, 25°, and 30°). Like the Classic II, the A4 is equipped with two 325-grit double-sided diamond rods and finishing steels that simultaneously sharpen both sides of the blade. The sharpener weighs about one pound and has a hand-crafted metal frame, sturdy rubber base, and powder-coated finish

Changing Kitchen Trend

A recent phenomenon is knife manufacturers’ broad adoption of the 15-degree edge. The 15-degree edge exhibits less cutting friction, particularly when a thinner blade geometry is accompanied. This follows suit with Japanese chef/sushi knives, which have been utilizing sharp angles on their knives with excellent results. Contemporary Asian knives usually have a double bevel with a 15-degree angle on both sides. Among these knives are the Santoku and Nakiri. In the home kitchen, a 15-degree angle is perfect for modern chef knives. Use the other angles for heavier cleavers, pocket knives and EDC knives. Whether for your inner pro home cook or professional, the Warthog A4 covers all the bases.

Step into the future of knife sharpening with Warthog Sharpeners A4!

Beel’s family is extremely focused on keeping animal populations healthy and appreciates the control they have with LandTrust, which allows them to turn bookings on and off as populations fluctuate.
