New Burris Veracity PH Scope Now Available

Greeley, CO – Burris Optics introduced the Veracity PH 4-20x50mm earlier this year and announces it is now available at authorized dealers nationwide. Purchase this incredible high demand rifle scope today and get it in time for hunting season. Featuring the new PĒK (Programable Elevation Knob) system, premium optical clarity, a built-in Heads-Up Display (HUD), and Bluetooth® connectivity for uploading custom ballistic data from the new BurrisConnect Mobile App, the Veracity PH takes hunter confidence and performance to the highest level.

The most precise hunting optic ever produced by Burris, the Veracity PH 4-20x50mm introduces features that redefine what is possible in a riflescope. It sets a new standard for confident point-of-aim/point-of-impact performance at extended distances.

These features build on years of research and development to “do the math” for the shooter and achieve precise shot placement easily and efficiently. It is extremely fast in providing an accurate dialing solution, eliminating time lost to hesitantly fumbling with dope cards and data sheets, and instead allows hunters to apply valuable time to focus on getting clean, controlled shots on unpredictable targets.

This complex-to-simple performance centers on the Veracity PH’s PĒK (pronounced “peak”) system and a robust yet easy-to-assess heads-up display showing the exact dialed distance, wind hold, rifle cant, and battery level. Coupled with user-configurable and uploadable ballistic data via Bluetooth connectivity through the BurrisConnect App, hunters can be assured of precise aiming.

A digital position sensor in the scope’s clickless elevation turret achieves 1/10 MOA equivalent adjustability for near exact dial-in to distance in yards or meters—unprecedented precision in today’s conventional scope technology. Additional ¼ MOA laser markings on the elevation turret provides redundancy for peace of mind on any hunt allowing the shooter to still dial to distance and complete their no matter the circumstances. Simply range the target using any rangefinder, dial to the distance in Yards or Meters displayed on the scope HUD, and fire.

KASTKING UNVEILS NEW SMART REEL AT ICAST 2023

Intelligent iReel Blends Smart Technology with Industry-Leading Casting Performance

Modern low-profile baitcasting reels exhibit an array of features and capabilities that didn’t exist even a decade ago. In another 10 years, it may be hard to recognize the newest class of casting reels—not from their looks but from the intuitive user experience they deliver. Offering a glimpse into the future, KastKing’s Bluetooth-equipped iReel represents a new category in intelligent freshwater fishing reels.

The most innovative piece of fishing equipment anglers can wrap their hands around, iReel’s radical design initiatives incorporate modern materials and manufacturing technologies to achieve an unprecedented level of casting precision and control. Not one to stand idle, KastKing is poised to transform how the baitcaster interacts with its angler.

Using Bluetooth to pair the iReel with your smartphone and the KastKing App, the initial setup begins with inputting the line type, test, and diameter. On the water, iReel employs highly accurate motion capture sensors in the spool assembly to provide anglers with precise casting metrics, including the number of casts made, average distance, farthest cast, retrieve speed, and more. By providing real-time access to this valuable information, anglers can enhance their understanding of the fishing environment, analyze their successes and failures, and make necessary adaptations based on the prevailing conditions.

Technology is clearly changing the way we fish, and gone are the days of relying solely on manual adjustments and an educated thumb to prevent backlashes—iReel introduces Intelligent Frequency Control (IFC) to evaluate casting variables such as spool speed, inertia, and line tension to optimize performance in real-time, mitigating backlash and ensuring smooth and accurate casts regardless of wind speed or lure weight.

Toyota, Alumacraft Boats, And South Dakota’s Second Century Habitat Fund Team Up For The WIN.

Sioux Falls, SD —- South Dakota’s Second Century Habitat Fund (SCHF) has collaborated with Toyota dealerships of South Dakota and Alumacraft Boats to raise financial support for habitat conservation efforts in South Dakota. They offered a raffle prize consisting of a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro and an Alumacraft Classic 165 boat, loaded with outdoor gear provided by, Gerber, Scheels, Berkley, WileyX, Ugly Stick, Maven Optics, Seaguar Fishing Line, and Grizzly Coolers which was promoted through social media ads and email campaigns starting October 2022. The campaign was conducted in partnership with the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks, resulting in the impressive amount of over $380,000 raised for habitat conservation.

According to Brian Bashore, SCHF Executive Director, the Toyota Tundra and Alumacraft boat combination was the most significant prize offered in the three years they have been running the raffle. The success of the past raffles demonstrates the widespread support South Dakota receives from people across the country, ensuring the preservation of conservation efforts and the continuation of pheasant hunting as a top priority for all to enjoy. None of this is possible without the support of our partners, especially Toyota and AlumaCraft. They truly made this happen.

The winner of the raffle was Ross Gaulke from Mitchell, South Dakota. Bashore personally informed Ross of his victory just before the announcement was made to a crowd of over 500 guests at the Fund’s inaugural Gala on June 3rd in Sioux Falls, SD. Bashore expressed his satisfaction with the selection, stating that Ross is a deserving winner. Ross and his wife recently acquired 60 acres of land and have been actively working on enhancing wildlife habitat by planting over 2,000 trees and converting the rest of the land into native grasses. Ross was one of 5,500 people to purchase tickets, and he was selected as the winner through the SD Game, Fish, and Parks’ big game license lottery system.

The funds raised from this raffle will be used to support habitat programs throughout South Dakota, aiming to foster high-quality habitats for wildlife to thrive and ensuring the continuation of the state’s renowned pheasant hunting tradition for future generations.

Why You Need an Electric Hunting Bike

Electric bikes, Electric Hunting Bikes or e-bikes have been growing in popularity for the last several years and for good reason.  Ebikes are now lighter, easier than ever to use and more powerful with longer lasting batteries to give you the range you need to get further on your hunts and adventures.  Electric bikes do not require the same level of physical fitness in order to go the distance and these bikes are an absolute blast to ride with top speeds over 20mph.

What is an Electric Hunting Bike?

Electric bikes are very similar to regular mountain bikes that come with a battery, motor and a controller allowing you to be able to control the speed and the various modes you are running your bike in.  Most ebikes also come with a screen to allow you to see your speed, the distance travelled, the mode you are currently using and the amount of battery that you have left over as you travel.  These bikes allow you pedal on your own, use pedal assist and use the motor without pedaling when need be.

Electric bikes specifically for hunting offer tremendous options for hunters including the ability to use accessories like bags, racks and cargo trailers to haul your gear in and come out heavy with game.  Ebikes today can now offer a range of up to 60 miles round trip and can now be camouflaged and built to withstand the rigors of hunting in the mountains, forests, deserts and prairies of our country.  Electric bikes designed for hunting are flat out different than the ebikes that we see tooling around the city, they are built tougher with heavy-duty suspension systems and sturdy frames and fat tires for stability allowing you to comfortably travel across varied levels of gravel, dirt, snow and mud.

The first time I hunted with an electric hunting bike was during a December muzzleloader hunt in Nebraska.  I was hunting a canyon edge and corner of the property. I had a place all picked out right on the corner where I knew that I would be in a position to shoot a doe to fill the freezer. It was muddy and we had snow on the ground so there was no way that I would hunt that corner without a plan to be able to get the deer out of that corner.  I dropped the bike out of the back of the truck and loaded up the trailer with the blind and headed out to the corner with my pack on my back and some extra straps in my pack.

I pulled up to my spot which was wide open with the exception of a couple of Yucca plants.  I laid the bike on its side and set up my blind and tucked in.  About an hour in the does started popping out and I took one at 12 yards from the blind with the muzzleloader and she dropped on the spot.  It was a great day.  I folded up the blind, gutted the deer and then figured out that I could lay the doe on the cart, I took off the feet and then strapped the blind to the cargo rack and drove the bike through the mud and snow and had the entire truck packed up before my buddies even got back to the truck.  It was an epic moment of realization that this was the way it should always be.

SAF FILES BRIEF IN 5TH CIRCUIT CASE RE: GUNS AND ‘CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES’

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation has filed an amicus brief in a case which could upend prohibitions on firearms possession by people using intoxicants or controlled substances because such laws violate the right to keep and bear arms.

The case is known as United States v. Daniels. SAF filed the brief in response to the unusual request by a three-judge panel in the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals following oral arguments, which were heard June 5. Because no amicus briefs had been filed, the panel invited briefs from amici curiae “who wish to supply relevant information regarding the history and tradition of restrictions on the use and possession of firearms as pertinent to the issues presented in this case. Of particular interest are historical gun regulations applicable to intoxicated or impaired individuals.” Briefs were due by July 6.

“We’re not advocating for or against specific laws,” explained SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut, who is a practicing attorney. “The Fifth Circuit panel asked for briefs regarding any historical prohibitions, and our response is solely written to address that question. Long story short, we could not find any such historical gun regulations that essentially strip someone of their Second Amendment rights for life, because they may have been under the influence of, or impaired by, an intoxicating substance.”

As noted in the 31-page brief, “Having set the stage for the proper analytical framework, attention must be turned to this nation’s nonexistent history and tradition of disarming people who, at some undefined point, may have been intoxicated.” The brief was prepared and submitted by attorney Edward Andrew Paltzik at Bochner PLLC in New York.

“This case raises an important issue regarding the lifetime loss of Second Amendment rights,” noted SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “The Court requested amicus briefs regarding historic analogues, and we are happy to oblige.”

Henry Repeating Arms Donates Over $1 Million for Silver Anniversary

Gunmaker’s charitable branch, Guns for Great Causes, aims to give back and balance the narrative about firearm manufacturers

Last year, Henry Repeating Arms Founder & CEO Anthony Imperato pledged to donate $1 million through its Guns for Great Causes charitable arm to celebrate the company’s twenty-fifth year in business. Today, Henry Repeating Arms, one of the country’s leading firearms manufacturers and a world leader in the lever action category, is proud to announce its fully honored pledge, with over 30 different organizations receiving donations totaling $1,037,500 since June 2022.

“I am most proud of being able to look back on the last twenty-five years of business and say with conviction that we were able to make a positive difference in the lives of others,” Imperato said. “More often than not, our industry is vilified and left with a perpetual black eye by the media. We, however,   are determined to continue leading the charge in counteracting that narrative by showing how much positive impact we have as responsible corporate citizens.”

The primary focus of the company’s Guns for Great Causes initiative is pediatric cancer care, which it addressed with over $200,000 in donations. In addition, Henry Repeating Arms manages an ongoing program to provide financial relief to individual families of sick children going through treatments by creating, donating, and selling limited edition runs of custom engraved rifles and presenting the family with 100% of the sales. This program recently raised over $40,000 for the family of 14-year-old Jack Troxel of Vancouver, Washington, who was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Military veteran organizations received a total of $375,000 from the silver anniversary campaign, including the nation’s largest, like the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and those specifically providing aid to the wounded and families of the fallen, like Disabled American Veterans, Building Homes for Heroes, and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. In addition, charities benefiting law enforcement, first responders, and their families received $225,000, including the Border Patrol Foundation, National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, and the First Responder’s Children’s Foundation.

New finger-mullet-imitating ElaZtech® swimbait goes coastal

Wherever inshore gamefish hound live mullet—perhaps the most significant saltwater preyfish in North America—anglers immediately ready themselves for an exhilarating day on the water. A leaping, porpoising, surface-milling mullet often signals exciting times to come: that a supertanker snook, cobia, redfish, tarpon or seatrout could be in hot pursuit. Enlivening pulses like we’re the ones in a death-chase, one cast with Z-Man’s new Mulletron swimbait connects you, straight-up, with the power and majesty of an angry aquatic predator.

“We created the Z-Man Mulletron to draw primal responses from fish working those key ambush points,” notes Jose Chavez, Z-Man Director of Product Development and a seasoned saltwater angler. “Put the bait in nervous water. Swim it right through your favorite fish-holding stations. It’ll happen.”

Formed with a true-to-life ‘finger mullet’ profile, including authentic head and body shape, lifelike gill plate, eye and fin details, 3.3- and 4-inch Mulletron swimbaits are sized to replicate the most edible and ubiquitous inshore baitfish in nature.

Z-Man’s new Mulletron is offered in 3.3- and 4-inch “finger mullet” sizes.

“The Mulletron is a perfect match for the new ZWG Swimbait Hook,” notes Z-Man pro Captain C.A. Richardson, referring to the new ElaZtech® friendly hook design. “It’s been awesome working this buoyant paddletail swimbait right across super skinny water and watching big snook explode all over it.”

Small Baits, Bite Detection and the Short Rod Crusade

New Z-Man® Drew’s Ultimate Ned Rig Rods blend primo rod-crafting with whispers of retro finesse

Before and after local fishing forays, circa the 1960s, a cadre of exceptional Midwestern anglers gathered to shoot the breeze down at Ray Fincke’s old Kansas City tackle shop. Fincke’s resembled a lot of other family-owned baitshops of the time—truckloads of lures, rods, livebait and other angling essentials all crammed into a cozy little space. Imagine the good-natured razzing, the exchange of breakthrough angling ideas that must have passed, as Ned Kehde, Chuck Woods, Guido Hibdon, Drew Reese and other architects of Midwest finesse (aka Ned rig fishing) sipped coffee and spent hard-earned dollars on the latest and greatest tackle.

A generation later, the legendary Ned and Drew have been joined by thousands of their closest friends—successful Ned rig fans from all over the planet. To this day, they continue innovating fish-catching products (Reese was co-creator of Z-Man’s celebrated Finesse TRD, TRD TicklerZ and Finesse ShroomZ.) And now, in concert with Z-Man, Reese has perfected Drew’s Ultimate Ned Rig Rods—the first true-to-technique tools built with the highest-grade blanks, components and rod-building wizardry available.

Fist bumps to the original heroes of Midwest finesse style angling—and in celebration of its longtime friendship with these great anglers— Z-Man has merged the past and future of Ned rigging into a singular series of light-line, finesse lure spinning rods. Designed by Reese himself, Drew’s Ultimate Ned Rig Rods merge the original art of Midwest finesse with impeccable rod-building brilliance.

Tennessee handles reduce weight, while allowing anglers to customize the rod’s balance point and reel position.

Two medium-light power / fast action models include a 5’4” (4- to 8-pound test) and 5’10” (4- to 10-pound test) rod, each epitomizing an emerging trend toward shorter, lighter, ultra-precise spinning rods. The quill-like rods weigh a mere 1.75-ounces and 2.2-ounces, respectively.

St. Croix Fly Announces New Sales Partnership

St. Croix Rod announces that Dry Fly Sales will represent the company’s fly-fishing brand and products the Midwestern states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The established agency is headquartered in Black Earth, Wisconsin and has served fly-fishing specialty retailers across the upper Midwest for the past 12 years. In addition to owners Tony and Kim Ferrie, associates at Dry Fly Sales include Matt Kwitek, Karl Romboy, and Andy Walls.

St. Croix Fly Fishing Director of Sales, Zack Dalton, says Dry Fly sales is uniquely qualified to represent St. Croix’s reinvigorated fly-fishing brand in the Midwest. “I’ve known Kim and Tony for many years and watched them work hard to establish deep relationships with quality retailers in this important region, which support anglers in the key Great Lakes market,” says Dalton. “They’re both passionate fly anglers and are very well respected within the industry for their knowledge, work ethics, personalities, and integrity. We believe they’re a great fit for our brand, which shares these same values.”

Tony Ferrie agrees. “On the conventional fishing side, St. Croix is a dominant brand throughout the world, and that certainly holds true within its backyard here in the Midwest. As a family-owned company for the past 46 years, St. Croix has leveraged its R&D, leading design and manufacturing capabilities, and angler-centric philosophy to earn the trust of both anglers and dealers. It’s been impressive and exciting to watch the new fly-fishing team St. Croix has built over the past couple of years, and it’s getting even more exciting, now, as we’re starting to see the results of that team-building in the form of an incredible lineup of all-new St. Croix fly rods.”

Kim Ferrie says always putting customers first is another synergy between St. Croix and Dry Fly Sales. “Relationships are always key,” she says. “We are 100% focused on meeting the needs of our retail partners. Put simply, if they are succeeding, we are succeeding, and that’s the same philosophy St. Croix has with respect to their anglers. Challenges will always happen, but when you have mutual trust and respect and bring solutions, every problem can be navigated to a successful outcome.”

Superior, WI — Built by the brand who brought bowhunters the industry’s first 3-D archery target with a replaceable 4-sided core, GlenDel® 3-D targets introduces the first-of-its-kind half-scale elk.

Utilizing the field-proven design of GlenDel’s PolyFusion 4-sided core technology this anatomically-accurate archery target mimics the silhouette of one of North America’s largest big game animals — all without the size or expense of a life-sized version. Constructed of ultra-durable self-healing polyfoam and incorporating GlenDel’s exclusive 12”x12”x12” 4-sided core system, the half-scale elk combines easy arrow removal with exceptional target life in a manageable package. Purpose-built to enhance any backyard range, the PolyFusion open layer foam construction used to build the core and vitals, takes open layers of foam and fuses them to the target’s inner wall to increase durability and expand overall target life. With up to 5X the shooting surface, three different vital views give bowhunters life-like aiming solutions at various shot angles, while also to enhancing target durability. The half-scale elk offers easy arrow removal and is built to withstand hours, days, weeks, months, and even years, worth of shots, from field points, fixed, and mechanical broadheads.

Though this easy-to-set-up target’s size has been proportionately reduced from its full-sized inspiration, its features are anything by paired back. Sporting a large removable six-point rack the body size simulates a bull weighing approximately 300 pounds, stands 38” inches tall at the shoulder, and is the largest in its class. The plastic molded head and legs with a new-and-improved locking system boost rigidity and durability while eliminating excess weight. Enhancing the realism, a life-like paint combination emulates the sand and brown hues found in the wild of this western-inspired 3-D target, while the detailed vital section depicts the location of the heart, lungs and liver at simulated angles. The ultra-durable 4-sided core is easily updated with replaceable vitals, available separately.

The GlenDel half-scale elk is available now for an MSRP of $379.99 at the finest retailers nationwide or online at https://www.feradyne.com/glendel/.
