Mogadore, OH.  The industry leader for over 28 years, TenPoint Crossbow Technologies recently introduced its NEW Titan De-Cock™ crossbow featuring the revolutionary ACUdraw De-Cock™. The first mid-priced TenPoint crossbow to offer de-cocking, the ultra-narrow, 9-inch-wide Titan De-Cock shoots up to 380 feet-per-second.

The NEW ACUdraw De-Cock silent cocking and safe de-cocking system features the company’s Auto-Brake Gear System that eliminates the potential of losing control which can lead to injury or costly bow damage during the de-cocking process. While de-cocking with the ACUdraw De-Cock, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point and the handle will stop in place.

With the unprecedented demand of our ACUslide™ system, we knew it was only a matter of time before we introduced a revolutionary silent cocking and safe de-cocking system to the middle of our crossbow lineup,” said TenPoint CEO Rick Bednar. “The ACUdraw De-Cock is just that and pairing safe de-cocking with our best-selling Titan model that delivers 380 FPS produces the best value in the crossbow industry.”

In addition, the easy-to-operate ACUdraw De-Cock reduces the effort required to cock the crossbow to just 5-pounds and is equipped with a 1,000-pound strength Nylon strap to reduce wear and abrasion.

The Titan’s NEW D-1™ Trigger is a 2-stage, zero-creep design that includes a new DFP™ (Dry-Fire-Prohibitor) and delivers a consistent crisp, 3.5-pound pull. The simple push of a button moves the trigger to “de-cock” mode and allows the user to safely de-cock the crossbow with the built-in ACUdraw De-Cock crank cocking device or manually de-cock the crossbow with the ACUdraw 50 SLED™ rope cocking device.

Local NWTF Chapter Partners with Agencies to Improve Habitat and Ecosystem

The NWTF’s local Cherokee Chapter recently partnered with the USDA Forest Service and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to improve wildlife habitat and prevent the encroachment of invasive plant species in Tennessee’s Cherokee National Forest.

The Cherokee Chapter donated $2,500, via the Tennessee State Chapter, to TWRA, which leveraged the local chapter’s donation with Pittman-Robertson funds (dollars from hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts), providing a total of $10,000 for partnership work on the Sylco area of the national forest, just this spring.

Autumn olive, one of the targeted invasive species in this project, was once planted for erosion control in the past. Over the years, however, it has spread, and now is outcompeting native plant species throughout the forest. The encroachment of autumn olive reduces the quality of habitat for wild turkeys, other wildlife and decreases the overall biodiversity.

“We, along with TWRA and NWTF, are doing our best to remove the plant from wildlife openings to attempt to gain control of its invasion throughout the Forest,” said Bo Reynolds, biological science technician of the Cherokee National Forest.

The recent partnership between the local NWTF Cherokee Chapter, TWRA and the Forest Service helped regulate the encroachment of the invasive species through a variety of forest management practices, including mulching, mowing and herbicide applications. Forest Service biologists state they are expecting to see early successional plant species thrive in the areas where management was completed.

NWTF Waterways for Wildlife Initiative Announces Inaugural Funding

EDGEFIELD, S.C.— The National Wild Turkey Federation launched its new Waterways for Wildlife Initiative by awarding 14 high-priority conservation projects with funds totaling $2,807,947 with partner match.

“We are extremely proud to begin delivering on-the-ground conservation within the first year of the Waterways for Wildlife Initiative,” said Jared McJunkin, NWTF director of conservation operations for the central region. “The fast-building momentum of this initiative is a result of our strong conservation partnerships and the all-encompassing work our Waterways for Wildlife seeks to accomplish. It was really easy to bring a diverse group of partners to the table for the common good.”

NWTF’s Waterways for Wildlife Initiative was announced just last year in November and requested proposals for conservation projects that will enhance wildlife habitat along rivers and streams, while improving the critical water resources these areas provide, primarily in NWTF’s Great Open Spaces Region in the Big Six of Wildlife Conservation.

With partners and NWTF staff ready to get to work and with funding secured, Waterways for Wildlife will begin work on the 14 shovel-ready projects in 2022, which will potentially enhance 7,677 acres of wildlife habitat and impact 77.9 stream miles.

“Waterways for Wildlife really showcases how our conservation work for wild turkeys has far-reaching benefits for many species and overall ecosystem health, including important water resources needed by people and wildlife” McJunkin said. “Never before have we captured stream miles as a conservation metric, and it’s exciting to see how the work we do improving wild turkey habitat also improves such an expanse of riparian habitat.”

A Vessel Safety Check Will Keep Your BoatUp-to-Date with New Boating Safety Equipment Regulations

A no cost, no penalty vessel safety check ensures you’re in compliance

How do you know your boat is ready for a safe summer boating season and complies with new U.S. Coast Guard regulations? A no cost, no penalty vessel safety check from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and U.S. Power Squadrons can help, and to get one all you have to do is go to cgaux.org/vsc. Appointments can be made for a vessel examiner to come to your boat or you can learn where scheduled inspections are taking place around your town.

Upon successful completion, the vessel is awarded a U.S. Coast Guard / Auxiliary / U.S. Power Squadrons decal that informs law enforcement and safety agencies that your boat was in full compliance with all federal and state boating laws during a safety check for that year. The program is sponsored by the  BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water.

“With the recent changes in regulations on engine cut-off switches as well as  changes to fire extinguishers and new 12- year expiration date, a free vessel safety check can help ensure your vessel is in compliance,” said BoatUS Foundation president Chris Edmonston. “It also gives you peace of mind that your boat meets federal safety standards and that in an emergency you will have the necessary equipment to save lives and summon help.”

Boat clubs, marinas, boat yards and municipalities with launch ramps are also encouraged to reach out to their local U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary or U.S. Power Squadrons to schedule a vessel safety check day at their property.

The U.S. Concealed Carry Association Responds to President Biden’s ATF Nomination and Ineffective Anti-Gun Agenda

The Administration Continues Down the Wrong Path Towards More Failed Gun Control Policies That do Little to Prevent Crime, Protect Families

West Bend, WI – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), which is one of the fastest growing organizations in the country advocating for responsibly-armed Americans, released the following statement after President Biden unveiled a new regulation aimed at so-called “ghost guns” and nominated Steve Dettelbach as the next director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF):

“It is deeply troubling to see President Biden once again nominate someone with an anti-gun record to serve as the new ATF Director.  This, along with the Administration’s proposals with respect to so-called ‘ghost guns’ are just the latest evidence that the Biden Administration is more focused on restricting Americans’ God-given right to self-protection than targeting criminals and reducing violent crime.  Nothing that the President is proposing today will make Americans safer in the face of skyrocketing crime because criminals by definition do not abide by the law.  It’s disappointing that the President is doubling down on ineffective policies instead of supporting law-abiding Americans who simply want to protect themselves and their families,” stated Tim Schmidt, president and founder, the U.S. Concealed Carry Association.

President Biden’s previous choice for ATF Director, David Chipman, was withdrawn seven months ago after receiving major criticism from Senate Republicans and some moderate Democrats. The USCCA was  outspoken in their opposition, noting how Chipman’s leadership could lead to further restriction of Americans’ inalienable right to self-defense. As the last two years saw record numbers of first-time gun owners, it is more important than ever for leaders to stand up for the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

“We believe the President and Congress should turn their attention to the real threat facing our communities: the explosion of violent crime and increasingly emboldened criminals.  We challenge this Administration to start enforcing the laws we already have instead of creating new regulations that cripple law-abiding gun owners.  The USCCA will continue to stand with and advocate for policies that empower more responsibly-armed Americans to be their family’s first line of defense, such as national concealed carry reciprocity,” concluded Schmidt.

Viridian to Exhibit at Texas Police Chiefs Association Annual Conference

Viridian Weapon Technologies continues to educate and inform law enforcement on its FACT Duty Gun Camera, the only product designed to show what really happened in an officer involved shooting. This time Viridian will attend the Texas Police Chiefs Association (TCPA) 2022 Conference in Galveston Island, Texas April 11-14, 2022 and can be found in booth #210.

The TCP promotes and enhances the professional development of all executive and management personnel within duly constituted law enforcement agencies in the state of Texas. The conference will feature speakers to help keep attendees ahead of the trends with informative topics for both large and small agencies. The 2021 show saw a record number of vendors and this year promises to follow suit.

“We work with several agencies in Texas and have had our highest profile use-case to date for the FACT Duty in the state as well,” said Viridian President and CEO, Brian Hedeen. “The WMC is the only technology designed to capture an OIS from the unobstructed view of the gun, and footage from these WMCs continues to provide critical evidence in court.”

The Viridian WMC provided crucial evidence in an officer-involved shooting (OIS) trial in Vernon, Texas in 2020. The jury convicted the defendant of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a public official. The WMC provided the critical evidence in the case by showing the defendant pointing a sawed-off shotgun at Vernon Police Corporal T.J. Session during an exchange of gunfire in which both Corporal Session and the defendant were shot and wounded.

The highly advanced WMC employs a 1080p full-HD digital camera with a microphone and 500 lumen tactical light. Viridian’s proprietary INSTANT-ON® technology automatically activates the camera and microphone whenever the officer draws the firearm from its holster. Not only does this eliminate risk of failure to manually turn on the camera during a critical event, but it also keeps the officer from fumbling with cumbersome equipment.

RCBS® Long-Range Competitor Wins Spearpoint ELR Match

Pro Paul Phillips Takes 1st Place in ELR Light Class

RCBS®, the leading manufacturer of ammunition reloading equipment for rifles and pistols, congratulates long-range competitor Paul Phillips for winning the ELR Light Class during the recent Spearpoint ELR Match held in Barnard, Kansas. Phillips, who prepped for the match using an RCBS Rock Chucker®  Supreme Press and MatchMaster Powder Dispenser, led the field throughout the two-day match to secure his first win of the 2022 ELR season.

During this year’s competition, Phillips opted to compete in the Light Class, which requires shooters to use a rifle weighing under 26 pounds and chambered in .338 caliber or below. His personal rig for the match was chambered in 33XC and fired a 300 grain Berger bullet propelled by Vihtavouri Powder inside a Petersen cartridge using a Federal 215 M primer.

The Spearpoint ELR match featured many of the top long-distance shooters in the world, including the reigning King of 2 Mile team. After the match, it was noted that 76% of the shooters registered were in the Top 100 ranking in the world for King of 2 Miles.

“Whenever you load world championship level ammunition you need to make sure all of your tolerances are exact,” said Phillips. “RCBS equipment delivers this to me every time I’m at my reloading bench and hasn’t let me down once. I know that when I get to the line in a major competition I never have to worry about my ammunition, and I can instead concentrate on doing my job as the shooter.”

EASTON CELEBRATES 100 YEARS OF AMERICAN-MADE GREATNESS

Easton, the longest standing archery company in the United States is proud to celebrate their 100th anniversary. Easton’s inception began with a family name, and today is still a family-owned company focused on its legacy and the future of archery.

Founded in 1922 by Doug Easton, who began crafting his own bows and making arrows out of cedar and pine. Soon, his craftsmanship was renowned, and his arrows were regarded as the finest in the country. In 1929, Doug moved to Los Angeles, opening Easton’s Archery Shop, where he would hit the sport full force with a host of wood-arrow innovations — the first screw-in point system that would become the world standard, then in 1949, with the production of the world’s first aluminum arrow, the 24SRT-X.

The small family shop moved and grew. Over time, Doug and team created the venerable XX75 and X7’s. Jim Easton came to work for his dad in 1960, and his engineering mind expanded the company to new altitudes with products such as ski poles, aluminum baseball bats, aluminum-carbon hockey sticks, road and mountain bike frames, and aluminum drumsticks use by top athlete and performers at the highest level.

Doug Easton’s legacy lives on with his son, Jim, and his grandson, Greg Easton, who would help pioneer virtually every major advancement in arrow technology to this day.  Under their leadership, the introduction and evolution of aluminum-carbon (AC) hybrids would be the next innovation to sweep the Olympic podiums. Today, the small-diameter carbon and FMJ revolution has redefined bowhunting success around the world.

The powerful draw of the sport, and the relentless push to innovate couldn’t make history without the millions who put their trust in Easton and share their singular aim of excellence. Of all the honors and achievements, the success of archers keeps Easton looking down-range since 1922 and to the century ahead. www.eastonarchery.com

Morton GO Review

The Morton GO is the environmental answer to buying cheap plastic bottles of anti-bacterial hand sanitizer over and over. Over the last several years, we have become inundated with hand sanitizer. We see these little bottles everywhere. I have seen them in parks, in parking lots and in the gutters on local streets. Morton has created the answer to throwaway bottles with a reusable bottle that allows you to create your own non-toxic disinfectant with water and table salt that is 99.9% effective at killing germs.

How does the Morton GO work?

The Morton GO uses the creation of HOCI disinfectant all in a simple, small spray bottle. It takes only a small packet of table salt and standard tap water.

What is HOCI?

HOCI is basically H for Hydrogen, O for Oxygen, and CI for Chlorine. Combined, HOCI is HypoChlorus acid. HypoChlorus acid is not the same as HCI Hydrochoric acid or muriatic acid. HOCI is naturally created by the white blood cells you have in your body, and these white blood cells create HOCI to fight infections. HOCI is used in many everyday products to kill germs and eliminate odors. I actually took the Morton GO on a recent fishing trip. I can attest it kept my hands from smelling fishy after use, and I knew my hands were cleaner before stepping into my truck.

HOCI is created between salt and water when an electrical charge is passed through the solution. It takes about 45 seconds. The good news is this entire thing is self-contained in a small travel sized spray bottle. It is slightly heavier than a cheap plastic bottle, but the worth is that you will know you are doing something to protect the environment. And in less time than you would think, this system pays for itself in keeping you healthy.

Conclusion

I have been using this unit since December. I took it to a trade show in January and used it all week. It is easy to spray, and it can be refilled anywhere you have a little table salt and water. This is a great gift for those that travel. These are worth a look: Mortongo.com, made from the team that creates Morton Salt which has been around for more than a century.

New Report from onX Reveals Scale of Corner-Locked Public Land Issue

Findings uncover 8.3 million acres of inaccessible, corner-locked public land

Missoula, Montana — onX recently conducted the outdoor industry’s first detailed analysis of “corner-locked” public lands. In its newly published “Corner-Locked Report,” onX illustrates both the scale and scope of an issue that’s fueling a heated debate between public land enthusiasts and private landowners in western states like Wyoming, where a pending court case could ignite massive changes to public land policy.

The issue at hand is “corner crossing,” or stepping over a property corner from one piece of public land to another. The topic is most often debated in western states, where vast tracts of land are parceled into an alternating public/private “checkerboard” pattern. Corner crossing is considered by many a legal gray area. Regardless, most hunters in the West avoid the practice or seek landowner permission before doing so. Despite numerous attempts in state legislatures to formally prohibit or legalize the practice, no such bills have become law.

According to the newly published onX Corner-Locked Report, there are 27,120 of these controversial corners in the West, behind which lie 8.3 million acres of “corner-locked” land. That’s equal to an area 3.8 times the size of Yellowstone National Park, or 9,845 Central Parks, that can’t be accessed freely by the public.

The Corner-Locked Report outlines the prevalence of corner-locked land in various western states. Wyoming, for example, has 4.19 million acres of landlocked public land, 2.4 million acres of which are corner-locked behind 8,159 property corners. These corners are shared with 1,200 unique landowners.

An Outside the Box Design for Fishing Poles Is About to Change the Way the World Fishes

Award-winning designer and inventor says they’ve been making fishing poles wrong this entire time.

Traditional fishing poles are easy to identify. They are straight, slender, and taper from the butt of the rod to the tip. A reel holds the fishing line and is located near the rear. Throughout the years, innovations have mostly been limited to the strength of the line and the material that makes the pole. However, Chi Huynh, American Inventor and award-winning designer, spent the last ten years turning the idea of the fishing pole on its head. The problem, as many have discovered, is that the straight fishing rod requires you to hold the rod in a way that tweaks your wrist and places a significant amount of strain on a joint that is far less supported by the musculature of the body than say, the elbow or shoulder, that are much better suited to carrying and manipulating more significant weight. In this case, the unnatural design of traditional fishing rods forces tension and stress on wrists, hands, and tendons, which may lead to nerve compression syndrome, numbness, and pain in your joints, shoulder, and trapezius muscle.

Because of this clear disadvantage, Huynh has completely reimagined the traditional rod design. By creating an upside-down U-bend where the fisherman’s grip would be, the design innovation shifts the arm into a more natural position and allows the butt of the rod to rest snuggly against the forearm and elbow. This shift in weight from the wrist to the elbow gives the user an automatic eight times more leverage advantage than relying solely on the wrist to do the job. What results is an ergonomic solution to fishing that is more comfortable, gentler on the body, and less tiring than a traditional rod. In short, this translates into a more enjoyable fishing experience and allows the owner to catch more fish than he would otherwise be able to.

More Leverage, More Power

The design and patent would be enough for most inventors, but Huynh is a consummate designer and deeply invested in the rod’s look and quality. The grip is accented by an intricate snake-head design that seems to be attacking and swallowing the rod whole, a design flair that warns the fish to “beware, this pole bites back.” The design leans into the elegant snake design and coats the entirety of the rod with a snake-skin pattern. This gorgeous design already begs the rest of the fishing world to rethink the sport’s aesthetic but it is certainly not the end of Huynh’s design prowess. Using the highest quality in carbon fiber and Alconite ceramic guides, the pole itself has a powerful backbone that allows it to outperform its weight class many times over. What is often labeled as an 8-12 pound weight rod easily pulls fish out that are 20-30 pounds, which is easily demonstrated on several videos at davinchirod.com.

The design, beauty, and quality of the material are measured successes in design, but the DavinChi rod has one final trick up its sleeve. Secured into the butt of the rod is a high-quality Damascus Steel knife, easily accessible by unscrewing the end of the rod. In the moments when a knife is required on the fly, the DavinChi rod offers a simple, elegant, and high-quality solution that is easily accessible to the owner.

Silencer Central Announces New Ambassador Partnership with Pigman

In their series of new ambassador partnership announcements, Silencer Central, America’s largest silencer dealer, is thrilled to add Brian ‘Pigman’ Quaca to their growing team.

Out of trade school, Quaca became known as a respectable riflesmith who could turn an average firearm into a lethal hunting rifle capable of stopping animals in their track. After recovering from a serious car accident, Brian trained himself to continue shooting and hunting, learning to shoot a bow right-handed with a modified sight, and learning to shoot a firearm left-handed. Even today, Pigman is one of the most influential promoters and ambassadors in the outdoor industry.

“Brian is an inspiration and guiding force in the shooting and hunting industry,” said CEO of Silencer Central Brandon Maddox. “He truly has a gift in how he shares his outdoor passions and adventures with his audience that’s both educational and entertaining. We look forward to working with him as we build our ambassador program.”

Through the ambassador program, Silencer Central strives to break the stigma surrounding silencers. An exceptional tool for sound elimination and recoil reduction, suppressors are multi-functional and great when used properly by hunters. Silencer Central delivers directly to customers in 42 states where silencers are legal. The GOAT Returns to The Course with Monster Energy’s Performance Hybrid Drink

Monster Hydro Super Sport – Monster Energy’s performance hybrid drink that quenches thirst and offers superior hydration – is excited to welcome back PGA legend and Hydro Super Sport athlete Tiger Woods to The Masters this week. A return that recently felt unfathomable, Woods is back on the course and competing at the highest level of golf.

“Monster Hydro Super Sport and the entire Monster Energy Family are honored to have Tiger Woods as part of the team,” said Monster Energy’s CMO Dan McHugh.  “Tiger represents the tenacity and drive Monster Energy athletes possess across the globe and we are excited to see him competing once again.”

Playing out of his iconic Monster Energy golf bag since 2016, Tiger’s role was expanded earlier this year to also represent Monster Hydro Super Sport. Tiger Woods has built an unprecedented competitive career. With 107 worldwide wins and 15 majors, Woods is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers in PGA history. Since he was 21 years old, Tiger Woods has made a name for himself as PGA’s most dominant golfer in the sport’s history. To this day, Tiger is the only golfer to have held the U.S. Open, British Open, PGA Championship and Masters’ title all within a year.

Fueled by Monster Hydro Super Sport’s unique blend of BCAAs, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and energy, Tiger continues his comeback to his career after a speedy recovery and dedication to return to the sport.
