TrueTimber, the world’s best-selling camo brand, has been announced as the official camo sponsor for the Drury University Bass Fishing team. Team jerseys, apparel and boats will feature TrueTimber logos, and the popular Viper Urban camo pattern as the roster of anglers sets out to compete in over 25 events against more than 300 programs nationally in the 2022-2023 season.

“This is an awesome opportunity to get involved and support a lot of young anglers with a ton of raw talent and hunger to win,” said TrueTimber CEO Rusty Sellars. “Rick is one of those guys that walks the walk and talks the talk in the fishing world. He’s built a really impressive program at Drury University, and we can’t wait to see the whole team wearing TrueTimber camo.”

The Drury Bass Fishing team finished third in the 2021-2022 ACA National Championship, ending the season sixth overall nationally in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year standings. Super Charge Your Feed Site With BB2 Liquid

Imagine the taste of your favorite food – Now envision that you could add that taste to any other food you consume. Let’s take it a step further by imagining that hunters could get the same attracting aroma and taste of Big and J’s popular BB2 in other feeds, corn, or on the ground. It is not just something to daydream about; the concept is a reality with Big and J BB2 Liquid.

Whitetail deer love eating natural foods such as corn and apples. Even though deer have a taste for them, they do not have much nutritional value, and they lack the attractive aroma that brings them in from long distances. No matter what type of food the hunter uses for supplemental feeding, the goal is the same, improved antler growth and healthier deer; BB2 Liquid is the missing link to the puzzle.

When using Big and J’s BB2 Liquid, they can supercharge any feed site. Whether the hunter is using the feeds for scouting with game cameras, attracting more deer to the property or bringing deer into shooting range while hunting, all that is needed is BB2 Liquid. It creates the same attraction power and nutritional value that the traditional BB2 has done. In areas where using attractants while hunting is legal, hunters can immediately have results when the product is poured onto stumps and logs to create an enticing lick. BB2 Liquid can also be poured directly onto the ground, where it will attract deer immediately.

The BB2 Liquid is not an everyday liquid attractant that is typically a glorified bottle of flavored sugar water. BB2 Liquid has the intense aroma of original BB2. The specially formulated ingredients of BB2 Liquid offer nutritional value with a protein content of 8% and a fat content of 2%. In addition, salt is added, which deer love and crave. BB2 Liquid also features calcium and phosphorus that deer need to promote antler growth.

BB2 Liquid is available in a 1-gallon bottle.

NWTF Announces Second Annual Conservation Week

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — For the second year, the National Wild Turkey Federation is hosting its Conservation Week to bring awareness and emphasis to its conservation mission and the role of hunters in creating Healthy Habitats and Health Harvests.

“We started conservation week last year because, while the spring season may be over, our conservation work never stops,” said NWTF co-CEO Kurt Dyroff. “The week leads up to National Hunting and Fishing Day and is the perfect time to showcase the breadth of our conservation delivery and the integral connection between conservation and hunting. The relationship is the essence of our mission, and we want to bring that into focus during the week.”

Throughout Conservation Week, the NWTF will share its conservation accomplishments, organizational milestones and ongoing initiatives — all tying together the mission to conserve the wild turkey and preserve our hunting heritage — specifically through the lens of the NWTF’s America’s Big Six of Wildlife Conservation, recent funding of wild turkey research and content that captures the essence of the soul of the American hunter.

The week will begin Sept. 18 with a message from NWTF co-CEOs challenging viewers to engage with NWTF digital channels throughout the week and to get outdoors and contribute to conservation in some form, whether mentoring new hunters, picking up trash, planting trees, enhancing wildlife habitat or other activity that pushes the conservation needle forward. The week will conclude on Sept. 24, National Hunting and Fishing Day.

To celebrate Conservation Week and NHFD, local chapters across the country are hosting an array of events including mentored hunts, JAKES days, fishing events and more.

Finland Bowhunter Shoots His First Whitetail Deer. In Finland !!!

Whitetail deer were imported to Finland from the USA in 1934 and 1948 with seven animals, according to Gearhead Archery fan and whitetail deer hunter Esa Skogstrom of Finland. And the whitetail population has expanded to over 100,000. The animals have succeeded very well in Finnish nature.

“Now whitetails are remarkable game animals in Finland,” Skogstrom said.  “The first were imported from Virginia to a fenced area, but in 1938, but they escaped from the fenced area. That was the beginning of free-range whitetails in Finland.”

Although the population started to grow in the forests people were concerned about inbreeding.

“The next group of whitetails was imported in 1948, three males and three females,” he said. “Whitetails have been hunted in Finland since 1960s but bow hunting of whitetails was legally accepted in 2017.”

Skogstrom sent in this photo from a throwback moment on the Gearhead Archery website when he harvested his first whitetail with a GearHead B20 Bow in 2019.  He’s harvested several more deer since then.

Camping World’s Guide to RVing Great Basin National Park

Nevada’s Great Basin National Park is a land of contrasts and diversity. Located not far from the state’s border with Utah, the park includes arid landscapes, towering mountain peaks, and ancient bristlecone pines. It is a place where visitors can climb above 13,000 feet on Wheeler Peak or drop beneath the surface of the Earth in a vast network of subterranean caves.

Here, you’ll find high alpine deserts, wide-open spaces, and a mountain glacier, all within one sprawling ecosystem covering more than 77,000 acres. Best of all, you’ll also find silence and solitude.

Since the park receives about 90,000 visitors annually, it is often all but deserted. This allows adventurous travelers to explore everything that it has to offer without having to deal with large crowds, long lines, and packed trails.

Here’s what you need to know before RVing Great Basin National Park.

What Do Deer Eat On September 2?

We finally got a break in the intense drought. It was tough on the local deer herd and water and food were an issue. Last week we finally got a good rain. The very next day the native grass had a faint light greenish tint to it. It’s now September 2 (2022) and we’ve had several rains from a couple of storms and several long drizzles.

This morning a doe and its fawn meandered into one of my deer watching areas. The rain has really busted open the growth of native grass and local weeds of several types.

When the two deer came up close to where I was hiding I took video with my iPhone

You’ll notice that this doe still has its ribs showing. It is 9:22 in the morning and she is out and about. Her and her Fawn are hungry. (I got some close up video of her Fawn also. It’s coming later today. Along with iPhone pictures of a nice buck.)

How to Make Tent Camping Comfortable

One of the significant benefits of the RV lifestyle is the ability to sleep in a real bed every night.  But even the largest luxury RVs can’t fit all of your friends and family should they join your next camping trip.

That’s why all RVers need to know how to make tent camping comfortable. Even if you don’t have to use a tent for your own sleeping accommodations, there’s a lot to be said for going above and beyond as a camp host.

Here are some camping hacks to improve your tent camping experience:

Pick a Good Tent Spot

The best camping equipment can’t make up for a poor tent spot. You might know the feeling. You thought you scoured the ground for sticks and rocks, but somehow you wound up with a tree root right in the middle of your back, ruining all chances of getting a good night’s sleep.

The trick is balancing the “Leave No Trace” principle of always camping on durable surfaces with your desire for a carpet-like surface to set your tent on. A healthy bed of pine needles is always lovely, but you may not have that option in your specific locale.

Preseason Training Tips From the Pros

By Eukanuba Staff

Opening Day is coming in low and hot, and so is the autumn trial season. Pro trainers “plan their work and then work their plan.” Here’s what some Eukanuba Pro Trainers focus on to get their strings ready for go time.

Ethan Pippitt of Standing Stone Kennels, Kansas
Specialty: Breeding and training German shorthaired pointers for upland and waterfowl hunting.

1. Evaluate Your Dog
Look back at the previous season and identify things your dog needs to work on. How does the dog respond to birds? How steady is he? Is your dog breaking to flush? Maybe you need to work on “whoa” training. Maybe he needs some formal retrieving work. An honest evaluation is the best place to start your preseason training.

2. Evaluate Yourself
How do you approach your dog? Are you patient, or quick to lose your temper? Can you take your time and move at your dog’s pace? Are you willing to adapt your training to your dog’s temperament and progress? Are you willing to consult with professional trainers if your dog has a problem that you don’t know how to address? Stepping back and looking in the mirror will give you a fresh start for a new season.

3. Train to Your Dog
Dogs learn at their own pace, and training is an ongoing process throughout their lives. A dog can have a stellar season one year and then get sloppy the next. Good trainers know that a dog is never truly “finished.” Even an excellent dog needs continuous training to maintain his skills.

Fast and Furious Crossbows

Speed kills. Greater speed means greater impact resulting in complete penetration. Animals with an entrance and exit wound are much easier to trail and recover. Secondly, the faster the arrow the less likely an animal is to “duck” a shaft. “Jumping-the-string” is a common problem among compound shooters, yet a sizzling arrow catches them before they can react.

Finally, the speed slows gravity… kind of. All objects fall at the same rate, yet a faster arrow drops fewer inches as speed increases. The flatter the trajectory, the more forgiving an error in distance estimation.

If you want a fast bow, I mean screaming fast, check out these three below:

TenPoint Nitro 505- The 505 frequently tests between 510 and 517 fps shooting a 400-grain arrow. I just spent a week hunting in Africa with the Nitro 505 and found it as easy to use as it is fast. The Acuslide cocking and decocking system loads the bow with the turn of a crank that nest in the stock so you can’t forget it.
