The Advantages of a Good Culti-Packer

Building food plots requires a considerable investment of time, money, and effort. However, land managers need to take the proper steps to maximize that investment; otherwise, it might be squandered. Site conditions, seed selection, and the appropriate application of soil nutrients are all important, but good germination rates won’t be realized without optimal seed-to-soil contact. Firminator’s built-in Cultipacker offers several advantages to ensure better germination rates and, therefore, a better return on investment.

Different soil conditions and seed selections call for different treatments. With simple top link length adjustments, the Firminator’s main pitch can be changed, so the implement leans more or less heavily onto its disk assembly for deeper or shallower cuts. This also allows the cultipacker to roll on the soil with additional frame weight being transferred to it so it can pass over the field to firm up the seedbed before planting small seeds. A mid-range setting gives varying degrees of disk depth, simultaneously allowing the built-in cultipacker to maintain good ground contact and break apart clods while leveling and firming the soil.

Unlike conventional, single-application implements, the all-in-one configuration of the Firminator allows for firming the soil during the seeding pass so seed is dropped directly in front of the packer wheel, where it is pressed into the soil surface for superior time- and money-saving seed-to-soil contact.

The standard Firminator G3 and integrated cultipacker are adequate for most conditions. However, Ranew’s Outdoor Equipment also offers a Pro-Grade Cultipacker Upgrade. Its larger, 16-inch wheels will easily roll over looser sandy or fine silty soils that tend to flow up and over a smaller wheel. The larger wheels also add weight and surface area to allow the accurate seeding system to function properly in all soil types.

They also make a Heavy Duty Stand-Alone Cultipacker in a standard 6-foot model featuring 9″ heavy-duty cast-iron cultipacker wheels, high-speed greasable bearings, and category 1 and 2 hitch pins; and a professional model with upgraded 16-inch cast-iron cultipacker wheels to create the best seed to soil contact possible. Both models are built with the same heavy 3-inch square tubing as the Firminators frames and come in 6, 8, and 10-foot widths.

Fisher Space Pen’s AG7 – The Original Pen for Every Mission

What do astronauts need when they carry out a mission in space? We can think of a few essential items such as oxygen, food, water, medical supplies and hygiene products necessary for basic human needs within a unique environment without gravity. What else would they need to operate smoothly? Something else we use every day – pens.

Similar to how all other ordinary materials need modification to work well in space, pens for astronauts need a different construction to write well in a gravity-less environment. Fisher Space Pen® created the AG7, the Original Astronaut Space Pen, to respond to this need. NASA® then meticulously examined Fisher’s AG7 for two years before they started using it on the historical Apollo 7 Space Mission in 1968. The Original Space Pen has been utilized on every crewed spaceflight ever since. Additionally, the pen has gained popularity among the general public over the decades.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this AG7 is that its original design and material have remained the same as the first Fisher Space Pens on the Apollo CSM-101 spacecraft. The reason for the same structure and medium is simple but nothing short of impressive. The Original Astronaut Space Pen was so well-made that it did not need any change for over 50 years! The AG7 pen’s solid brass body is plated with an incredibly resilient chrome layer, ensuring its stability while functioning in a harsh, unique environment. The AG7’s rear click and side retraction mechanism make it easy to use with one hand and fantastic for multitasking. With Fisher’s famous Pressurized PR4 cartridge inside, the Original Astronaut Space Pen writes in zero-gravity regardless of the angles. The AG7’s writability is guaranteed even underwater, in arctic conditions or in blistering heat.

The Original Astronaut Space Pen is proudly manufactured in the USA using the highest quality materials sourced globally and in the USA. The pen ships in attractive packaging with an image of an astronaut landing on the moon, and gift wrapping and personalized engraving are available at an additional cost. The pen is just over five inches long and weighs just one oz., so users will enjoy a compact and multifunctional tool to carry on their person.

Not everyone is an astronaut. However, anyone can have this pen as a piece of the U.S. space exploration history in their pocket. The AG7 also makes an excellent gift for space mission enthusiasts or anyone who needs a charming writing device that is dependable beyond measures!

BLM Formalizes Approach to Conserving Wildlife Migration Corridors, Supporting Habitat Connectivity

BHA applauds administration policy intended to protect important habitat, facilitate collaborative management strategies with states, Tribes, other stakeholders

WASHINGTON – Backcountry Hunters & Anglers today commended a decision by the Bureau of Land Management to formalize the conservation of connections between habitats, such as migration corridors, for fish and wildlife species, thereby advancing habitat connectivity activities and elevating the BLM’s work with a range of stakeholders.

The BLM instructional memorandum, or IM, will enable the bureau to expand its actions in support of migration corridors and other sensitive areas of habitat in a substantive, results-oriented way, bolstering its work on habitat connectivity, permeability and resilience in collaboration with state and Tribal wildlife managers and other engaged entities. The IM also directs the BLM to conduct an assessment for existing priority habitats and the connectivity between them.

Priority activities identified by the BLM in the IM include the following:

Removing physical and disturbance barriers to fish and wildlife (e.g., removing hazardous fencing, installing wildlife friendly fencing, improving fish passages and building wildlife crossings);Installing signage to mitigate vehicle-wildlife collisions;Pursuing treatments that promote resilient species composition and structure of native plant communities;Developing and locating water sources and other features to encourage wildlife utilization of suitable habitat across landscapes;Implementing travel management and undertaking projects that address impacts of fire, drought and invasive species;Supporting Land and Water Conservation Fund and/or Federal Land Transaction Facilitation Act acquisitions that advance habitat connectivity.

“Big-game species need to have access to established migration routes to reach important seasonal habitat,” said John Gale, BHA conservation director. “The Bureau of Land Management must be a leader in setting expectations and delivering concrete results for how these valuable areas of habitat are managed. The policy released today will play a key role in our ability to maintain robust, huntable populations of game species, including but not limited to mule deer, pronghorn and elk.

Game Hunting in Hawaii – Best of the Islands Guide

If you decide that you want to go to Hawaii for your next big hunting trip, then you need to know a few things. Not just about how to hunt in Hawaii, but also about where to hunt and what you can find on each island! Thankfully, Hawaii has several places and animals you can hunt, so read this guide and then get on your hunting trip!

What Animals Can I Hunt In Hawaii?

With beautiful land and a lot of wildlife to choose from, you can hunt a lot in Hawaii. Some of the animals you can find in Hawaii can include the Axis Deer, Hawaiian Boar, Black Hawaiian Sheep Mouflon, Dove, and Frank Colin. These animals like to hide in the busy cover of the landscape, so they can pose a challenge to a new hunter.

If you like to hunt for food, then the meat of the Axis Deer, the Hawaiian Boar, and the Dove, are all very nutritious and delicious. It’s also in pretty high demand both locally and in the global market outside of Hawaii. Hunting and bringing home what you catch to cook is going to be an extra special event in Hawaii.

Make Sure To Hunt Across The Islands

Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Maui, Moloka‘i, Lana‘i, and the big island of Hawaii all have their own dedicated public hunting areas that are open at different times of the year, and also specialize in different types of animals.

For example, while five islands allow you to hunt the feral pig during its season, Lana’i does not, but it does let you hunt the Mouflon sheep.

How To Choose A Crossbow Scope? 4 Expert Advice

A crossbow scope is a type of optical sight specifically designed for a crossbow. Unlike a traditional rifle scope, a crossbow scope features an elongated design that compensates for the relatively short distance between the bow and the target.

In addition, crossbow scopes typically have lower magnification levels than rifle scopes, as this allows for a wider field of view at shorter distances. While some hunters prefer to use open sights when hunting with a crossbow, a scope can help to improve accuracy by providing a clear and precise aiming point.

Tips To Choose a Crossbow Scope

This article will cover some of the most crucial things to keep in mind while selecting a crossbow sight. And by the end of the article, you will better understand what type of scope will work best for you and your hunting needs, so let’s start.

Magnification

Magnification is one of the most important features to look for in a crossbow scope. The magnification determines how far you can see your target. The range of most scopes is between 4 and 16 times. Thus, the object will appear 4 to 16 times larger than it would be without the scope.

If you are planning on hunting a game far away, you will want to choose a scope with a higher magnification. However, if you plan on hunting a closer game, you will want to choose a scope with a lower magnification.

Make It Back To Deer Camp Safely This Year

Wear A Helmet And Seatbelt When Operating ATVs/UTVs

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) urges hunters to include ATV/UTV safety gear as part of a safe hunt this season.

Each year, people are injured during ATV/UTV crashes while hunting. A helmet and seatbelt can be just as important in keeping hunters safe as wearing blaze orange or a tree stand harness. Taking a few seconds to buckle up and put on a helmet can save your life and keep you in the woods for many seasons to come.

“ATVs and UTVs are great machines to help you set up tree stands, get to your favorite hunting spot or retrieve game, but you must operate them safely,” said Lt. Jacob Holsclaw, DNR Off-highway Vehicle Administrator. “Please wear a helmet and use a seatbelt if provided. When hunting on public lands, make sure you are aware of the local regulations to use ATVs or UTVs on these properties.”

Follow these rules while using an ATV or UTV during your hunt:

Rise Above the Rest in a Millennium® Ladder Stand

Hunting big game from an elevated position is a time-tested tactic that has proven itself successful, season after season. Hunters find increased visibility for the hunter and a natural camouflage from the hunted by using elevation to hide in plain sight. Generations of whitetail hunters have developed strategies and found success, hunting deer from treestands across America.

At Millennium Treestands®, products for the hunt are developed by hunters, including their premium lineup of ladder stands. The Millennium Outdoors L110 and L220 ladder stands are built for the hunt and designed with stealth, stability and silence in mind.

Millennium ladder stands are incredibly durable and made to last season after season; they are constructed from durable, low glare powder-coated steel. The L110 and L220 stands are height adjustable with rigid interlocking ladder sections designed to stack from heights of 7 ft. to 18 ft. (L220) and 8 ft. to 21 ft. (L110). This versatility allows hunters to adjust the stand height according to factors in the field, such as tree canopy height and shot angles.

Both of these ladder stands from Millennium Outdoors comfortably seat the hunter in use with comfortMAX seating. The contoured, tight sling seat connects the hunter to the stand and makes for a perfect resting place up among the trees. Every whitetail hunter can stay seated for those long hunts, without becoming restless. Staying quietly hidden is important, and comfortMax allows you to do so as long as the hunt lasts.

The rigid ladder design implemented in the L110 single and L220 double ladder stands provides industry-leading stability and eliminates the need for a center support brace. The SafeLink safety system is implemented, along with double-sized platforms, stabilizing straps, and a durable powder-coated finish.

Kissinger WMA reopens to public

Kissinger Wildlife Management Area near Fairfield has reopened to all visitors, including hunters and wildlife watchers, following a temporary closure to protect whooping cranes using the area.

Two endangered whooping cranes were present at the WMA since Oct. 19, utilizing the wetland as their roosting spot and nearby area as their feeding grounds. They continued their migration south on Nov. 11.

“We appreciate the cooperation and assistance by the public and local landowners during the whooping cranes’ stopover,” said Alicia Hardin, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission wildlife division administrator. “These wetlands provide important habitat and recreation opportunities. By working together, we were able to strike a balance between the needs of these endangered wildlife and people’s recreational interests.”

Whooping cranes are endangered, with a wild population of fewer than 600 birds. The entire population migrates through Nebraska each spring and fall between wintering sites along the Texas coast and breeding areas in northern Alberta.

The whooping cranes are protected by both the federal Endangered Species Act and the Nebraska Nongame and Endangered Species Conservation Act.

Mistakes To Avoid Before Going For A Hunting Spree

With the right equipment, the right preparation, and a bit of luck, you can bag yourself the ultimate hunting spree. However, some common mistakes can turn your trip into a complete disaster. Here are some of them:

Not Having Enough Ammunition

Having enough ammunition is essential to your hunting trip. You should have at least one extra loaded magazine for each firearm you plan on using and plenty more in case of emergency. Remember, the last thing you want is to run out of ammo while in the middle of a very important hunt.

In addition to having enough ammunition available before you go on your hunt, it’s also important to know where all of this ammunition is stored and organized so there will be no confusion when it comes time for hunting season.

When it comes to hunting, it’s best to be prepared. That way, you can focus on enjoying yourself and not worry that you might run out of ammunition at some point during your trip.

Choosing the Wrong Tree Stand

Before heading into the woods, it’s crucial to make sure you have the right tree stand. A good tree stand will be sturdy enough for your weight and provide a stable platform for your comfort and safety. Many different types of tree stands are available on the market today; some are meant only for deer hunting, while others can handle a larger game like elk or moose.

Tips for purchasing Ammo for your next Hunting Trip

When you’re buying ammo for your next hunting trip, there’s a lot to consider. It can be tempting to buy the cheapest ammunition you can find, but that’s not always the best idea. Here are some tips on what to look for when purchasing ammunition:

Look for the bullet weight combination that works best for your rifle

Bullet weight is measured in grains, with grain being roughly 1/7000 of an ounce. Heavier bullets are more accurate for hunting since they stay on target better and produce less noise and recoil. But they also have a slower muzzle velocity than lighter bullets do. Lighter bullets may be more effective in terms of speed if you’re hunting small game or other fast-moving targets, but they can have more recoil and might not be as accurate as a heavier bullet would be at longer distances.

The caliber of the bullet is also important since this refers to the diameter of the bullet. A larger caliber will have a slower muzzle velocity than a smaller one would, but it will also be more accurate at longer distances.

Look for the different velocities available to fit your rifle better.

Velocity is the speed of the bullet and is measured in feet per second (fps). It’s important to consider velocity when choosing your ammunition because it affects accuracy, especially with a rifle. The amount of energy generated by a bullet when it leaves a rifle barrel is known as muzzle energy. The combination that works best for your particular setup may be different from what works well for someone else’s setup due to barrel length and other factors. Therefore, finding something that fits well with your firearm can take some trial and error.

Look for ammo that is designed to perform well in a wide variety of rifles and situations

You may be looking for a hunting trip where you can use the same rifle, or a variety of rifles, to hunt different types of game. In this case, look for 6.5 Creedmoor ammo that is designed to perform well in a wide variety of rifles and situations. The bullet weight, velocity, and bullet design are all important factors when choosing ammunition that will perform well on your next hunting trip.

Fishing and boating leading conventional outdoor recreation activities among current dollar value added.

In his classic 1981 song, “Are The Good Times Really Over?”, the late country music legend, Merle Haggard, sang, “I wish a Ford and a Chevy would still last ten years, Like they should.” His lament was that finding made-in-America products that can stand the test of time is getting more and more difficult every year. To stand the test of time, a company must produce high-quality products offered at a fair price that both do the job as well as any of its competitors, and that are built to last.

This describes the Al’s Goldfish Lure Co. to a “T.”

Al’s Goldfish Lure Co. celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2022 for one simple reason – the company was founded, and run for decades, on the principle of helping its customers catch more fish by producing lures and accessories that work as advertised, backed by an unconditional warranty.

“When we look back at our company’s storied history, it makes my husband Jeff and I more and more committed to continue to run the business the way our founder, Al Stuart, did for decades,” said owner Mandy DeBuigne. “Jeff and I are ‘fish heads.’ We love to fish and know what it takes to be successful on the water. We’re a small business with a small, tight group of dedicated employees and community partners who love doing their job well, and building tackle. We would like to thank our customers and business partners around the world who have helped to make our dream possible.

Since its start in 1952 by ardent angler Al Stuart with a single product, Stuart’s Goldfish, the company has introduced a number of other very successful lures, but the original Goldfish, the company’s flagship product, holds strong and the company stays true to its original customer values.
