New Click® Reel makes prosthetic adjustability easier and more comfortable

Click Medical redesigns dial technology safety and ease for O&P use.

Perfecting the fit of prostheses and orthoses just got significantly easier with the release of the new Click Reel, a revolutionary system created by Steamboat-based Click Medical. In partnership with Seattle-based design firm IDeology, Click Medical has developed and engineered the Click® Reel to empower patients to make micro and macro adjustments of their devices quickly and easily. The Click® Reel uses the newly invented Shift® Technology to quickly wind-up slack lace and then automatically “shift” into a power mode to provide fine-tuned fit. The technology also includes a clutch that delivers the ability to prescribe the optimal fit based on the user’s needs, adding safety and convenience. The Reel is extremely durable while boasting a 33% lower profile with the transition to metal parts instead of plastic.

The new Click Reel is now found in Click Medical’s three core products: RevoFit®, RevoSurface®, and RevoLock®. The most popular application of adjustability is the RevoFit Lamination Kit which is built into a custom prosthetic device and can be configured to solve each patient’s unique fit needs. The brand new RevoSurface Tool Kit allows the addition of adjustability to any existing prosthetic or orthotic device, which has never been offered before. The RevoLock 4-Hole and Align kits make it easy for users to pull their limb into their prosthetic for a secure and safe fit every time.

“Adjustable prosthetic and orthotic devices increase patient satisfaction, and their lives in general by empowering them to provide daily self-care” said Jimmy Capra, co-founder and CEO of Click Medical.

Dave Gardner, an army vet and passionate hunter, has used a prosthesis for the past 14 years. His most recent prosthesis is equipped with the new Click® Reel. “I love being able to adjust my socket in both directions,” said Gardner. “Every time I sit down, or drive, I loosen my socket just a little, which makes all the difference.  It’s simple, but it’s life changing.”

Motorists urged to use caution to avoid collisions with deer

LINCOLN, Neb. – Deer are more active this time of the fall. Crops are being harvested and deer breeding season is in full swing. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has suggestions to help drivers avoid deer-vehicle accidents and lessen the risk of injury or vehicle damage.

During the breeding season, bucks become more active searching for does with which to breed. Bucks are bolder, less wary and more susceptible to collisions with vehicles. Deer movement peaks each day near dawn and dusk.Anticipate the possibility of a deer on the road and plan how to avoid a collision. Be prepared to stop suddenly, but braking too sharply or swerving may cause you to lose control and roll your vehicle.Wear your seat belt. When driving near shelterbelts, woodlots or creeks, especially during evening or early morning, slow down and watch for deer. Keep your headlights on bright if there is no approaching traffic. When you spot a deer, assume there will be others in the same area.Deer often seem to be disoriented or confused by headlights. Some react by freezing in the light, some dart into the path of the vehicle and others bolt away. Honk your horn and flash your headlights to frighten deer away. If there is other traffic on the road, activate your emergency flashers and tap your brakes to alert other drivers to the potential danger. Many places where deer-vehicle collisions occur are posted with deer crossing signs. If a deer is struck, the driver may take possession of it but must contact a Game and Parks conservation officer within 24 hours to obtain a salvage tag. View conservation officer phone numbers at OutdoorNebraska.gov/ConservationOfficers.

Nashville and NASCAR Come Together to Support the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation

Yesterday, country music superstar Chris Janson took to the stage to kick off the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation’s (CSF) 17th Annual Wine, Wheels & Wildlife at the beautiful Childress Vineyards in Lexington, North Carolina. Hosted by none other than NASCAR Hall of Famer and Vice-Chair of the CSF Board of Directors Richard Childress as well as Title Sponsors Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, this year’s event brought together a number of representatives from the hunting and angling industry to recognize the tremendous achievements set forth by CSF across America.

Hunting and angling are what this country was built upon and are woven into the cultural fabric of communities across all 50 states. America’s sportsmen and women are the foundation of our nation’s conservation legacy, highlighting the importance of ensuring our outdoor traditions are protected and advanced in the policy arena for generations to come.

For more than 30 years, CSF has been at the forefront fighting to protect these great outdoor traditions and is the tip of the spear when it comes to working with Congress, governors and state legislators on behalf of America’s sportsmen and women. Just last year, CSF helped to secure passage of historic legislation including the Great American Outdoors Act and the America’s Conservation Enhancement Act, two of the most significant pieces of legislation for sportsmen and women in a lifetime. This year, CSF is leading efforts on landmark legislation such as Recovering America’s Wildlife Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

“I am honored to be a long-standing partner of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation,” said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “The work they do on behalf of all of us as sportsmen and women across all levels of government, is what sets them apart from other organizations. By bringing their personal outdoors experience with their strong background in policy, they have the depth and breadth to ensure these great traditions will be secured for our future generations.”

Attended by leaders of the sportsmen’s community, NASCAR representatives, federal and state elected officials representing both sides of the aisle, and other CSF supporters, this year’s event demonstrated the camaraderie that has been built among these various groups for the betterment of sportsmen and women.

Ruff Land Kennels Renews National Sponsorship with Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever

Made by bird hunters for bird hunters, every purchase supports upland conservation

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are thrilled to announce Ruff Land Kennels as a renewing national sponsor and the “Official Kennel of The Habitat Organization” for a fifth consecutive year. The partnership provides Ruff Land Kennels a wide assortment of marketing assets to reach dog-owning members of the nation’s leading upland charities, while delivering direct financial support for the creation of grasslands where bird dogs love to roam.

“Purchasing with a purpose is made easy with a supporter like Ruff Land; when you buy a kennel from their South Dakota factory, upland birds benefit from a conservation donation,” said Chris Kalis, director of corporate partnerships. “Ruff Land Kennels are made by bird hunters for bird hunters. When it comes to protecting our four-legged family members traveling from one prairie to another, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever encourage upland hunters to support Ruff Land, the only kennel you’ll ever need.”

Ruff Land Kennels are built tough for extreme performance and safety. Featuring one-piece roto-molded construction from UV-stabilized polyethylene, no assembly is needed, and no bolt-through ledge can be found, saving up to three inches of side space over conventional models. It also makes for a much stronger kennel.  And, because there are no seams, it is also much easier to clean. Finally, a Ruff Land Kennel won’t crack even in extreme subzero weather.

“Being from the pheasant capital of South Dakota, everyone here at Ruff Land certainly appreciates what Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever stand for. So many of our customers are pheasant and quail hunters who rely on quality upland habitat. We are proud to be a national sponsor of both Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever for the fifth year running and commend the organization for all they do,” stated Ruff Land Kennels owners.

The Council to Advance Hunting and the Shooting Sports Joins 54 Other Hunt Fish 30×30 Organizations to Submit Formal Recommendations to the Biden Administration Concerning the “America the Beautiful” Initiative

WASHINGTON, D.C) – Yesterday, the Council to Advance Hunting and the Shooting Sports (CAHSS)  joined 54 other members of the Hunt Fish 30×30 Coalition to submit a set of formal recommendations for the Biden Administration’s “America the Beautiful” initiative, also referred to as “Thirty by Thirty.” The recommendations highlight several priorities of the sporting-conservation community as they relate to the development of the Administration’s forthcoming American Conservation and Stewardship Atlas  which will serve as a measure of conservation and restoration progress to date.

The recommendations submitted to President Biden’s interagency working group reflect the priorities first outlined in the Hunt Fish 30×30 Coalition’s “Hunting and Fishing Community Statement on the 30×30 Initiative” that was developed in response to “Thirty by Thirty” legislation introduced at the state level in 2020. In the statement, which has currently been signed by sixty-six sporting-conservation organizations, the Coalition highlights the important role that sportsmen and women have played in the conservation of fish, wildlife, and natural ecosystems in the United States. Recognizing this history of conservation successes, the current recommendations present an opportunity to advance pragmatic, successful conservation efforts while recognizing many existing efforts that have, to date, been largely overlooked relative to this initiative.

“The Council is thrilled to see this initiative moving forward, as it will have long term positive impacts on our nation’s wild places and wild things,” states Dr. Steven Leath, Executive Director of the Council.

These recommendations were designed to provide an initial framework as the Administration’s interagency working group begins developing the American Conservation and Stewardship Atlas.
Key priorities of the recommendations include:

Clearly defining “conservation” to support the active management and sustainable use of our nation’s public trust fish and wildlife resources. Collaborating closely with entities devoted to achieving measurable biodiversity conservation objectives, including:State fish and wildlife management agencies, Regional fish and wildlife management bodies, Members of the sporting-conservation community, The more than 500 federally recognized Native American tribes, and Private landowners through voluntary, incentive-based opportunities. Recognizing and including all efforts directly contributing to biodiversity conservation in the forthcoming American Conservation and Stewardship Atlas, including those on lands subject to multiple uses.

CMP Hosts Inaugural 3D Archery Tournament, Plans New Archery Events at Talladega

On Sept. 11, 2021, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) hosted its inaugural Talladega 3D Archery Tournament on the newly constructed Archery Range at the Talladega Marksmanship Park in Alabama. A total of 20 guests, ages 10 and up, participated in the tournament in three separate classes: Fix Pin, Bare Bow and Open.

“It was a positive turnout,” said Billy Chapman, CMP Talladega’s archery range manager. “It was all new people to us, to the park and to archery.”

Plaques were awarded to top individuals, which included:
Adult Female Open: Michele Stacy, Detroit, Alabama
Adult Male Open: Joey Tomlinson, Sterrett, Alabama
Adult Male Pins: Joey Walker, Boaz, Alabama
Youth Junior Female Pins: Kylie Glenn, Tallapoosa, Georgia
Youth Junior Male Pins: Aidan Lindblad, Albertville, Alabama
Youth Senior Female Open: Danielle Chapman, Piedmont, Alabama
Youth Senior Female Pins: Shelby Boland, Springville, Alabama
Youth Senior Male Pins: Cole Walker, Boaz, Alabama

The Talladega Archery Range is equipped with the same 3D targets used in national-level events.

Along with regular competition, those curious about archery or the Talladega Archery Range itself were able to sign up for a Fun Round on the 20-lane course. The Fun Round followed the exact target setup as the tournament, though participants competed purely out of enjoyment rather than competition points.

Chapman himself, an experienced archery competitor, shot the Fun Round as well as a parent who wanted to see if he could outshoot his son. Some fired in the Fun Round for other reasons – feeling they weren’t quite ready to be a part of the serious competition or, simply, to try something new. Whatever the reason, the Fun Round allowed guests to see the fresh Archery Range and experience it first-hand.

Corcoran Leads Garand/Springfield Matches at Camp Perry in September

CAMP PERRY, Ohio – The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) hosted a fall Garand/Springfield/Vintage and Modern Military (GSMM) match on the electronic targets of Petrarca Range, located on the grounds of Camp Perry. The event, held Sept. 25, saw over 30 entries over the course of the day.

Winning both the Garand and Springfield match courses was Corcoran Tyson, 63, of Boones Mill, Virginia. He fired a score of 266-3X with the Garand, while his Springfield led him to an overall score of 286-4X.

Tyson has a long history of marksmanship competition that spans almost 50 years. He often shot in NBPRP (National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice) and National Rifle Association events – frequenting the Camp Perry National Matches from 1977 to 2002. He also shot on five championship RNDC four-man teams at Nationals, two six-man teams for Virginia State in the NBPRP matches in the 1980s and earned his Distinguished Rifleman Badge in 1982.

The GSMM features a mix of vintage and modern military rifle matches.

This year, while on vacation in September, he decided to make a quick stop for the Petrarca GSMM match – just one more go on the ranges of Camp Perry.

“Kind of a memory lane thing,” he said. “I went to see how much it has changed, and it has a lot.”
