Alps’ Solution to Cold Camping

Alps Mountaineering Introduces the Vibe Series Mummy Sleeping Bags

New Haven, Mo. – ALPS Mountaineering, a manufacturer of performance gear for wilderness adventures, exploration, and family camping, presents a new series of backpacking sleeping bags for 2025. Developed for maximum heat retention and minimal weight, the new Vibe series bags fit the needs of dedicated backpackers and “go-light” campers.

ALPS Mountaineering’s Vibe bags are based on the ergonomic and optimally comfortable mummy profile and come in three temperature ratings to meet the broadest range of camping environments. These include the Vibe 0° for winter and higher-altitude camping, the Vibe +20° for comfortable spring and fall camping, and the Vibe +40° for ideal performance in warmer climates.

To achieve that delicate balance of lightweight and premium thermal efficiency, the ALPS Mountaineering designers chose synthetic TechLoft Micro insulation, consisting of multiple denier staple-length fibers with a siliconized finish for maximum insulation, loft, and compactness. Combined with two-layer offset quilt construction to eliminate cold spots and insulated chest and zipper baffles to prevent drafts, the Vibe mummy bags ensure a warm and comfortable night’s sleep wherever your journeys take you.

The Vibe bags are also built to withstand the challenges of wilderness adventure courtesy of their rugged polyester ripstop outer shell and soft polyester liner. A tough #8 zipper delivers smooth operation and durability.

In addition to the three available temperature ratings, each bag is offered in regular and long sizes for a comfortable fit for all body types, and each comes with a compression stuff sack.

Henry Repeating Arms, the industry leader in lever-action rifles, is ushering in a new era with the launch of the Lever Action Supreme Rifle (LASR). This groundbreaking firearm sets new standards for quality, performance, and precision for the time-honored platform. Available in .223 Rem/5.56 NATO and .300 Blackout, the LASR represents the culmination of over 150 years of lever-action evolution and Henry’s exploration of cutting-edge manufacturing technology and techniques.

Key features include:

Supremely Accurate: The free-floated blued steel barrel is fully capable of sub-MOA accuracy with the right conditions and cartridge selection, and configurations are optimized for each caliber: an 18″ barrel for the .223 Rem/5.56 NATO and a 16.5″ barrel for the .300 BLK.Supremely Smooth: The quad bar linkage and slider crank mechanism at the heart of the action sets a new standard for out-of-the-box lever-action smoothness.Supremely Adaptable: A match-grade 4-pound adjustable trigger, a patent-pending windage and elevation adjustable trapezoidal rear sight, and ambidextrous controls ensure maximum control and comfort.Supremely Built: Crafted in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, with premium materials, including genuine American Walnut stocks and aerospace-grade aluminum receivers using the latest manufacturing technology.

At its core, the Supreme boasts a quad-bar linkage and slider crank mechanism to drive the bolt and cycle rounds from the detachable box magazine. An internal hammer design keeps out dust, dirt, and debris to maintain reliability in harsh conditions. The six-lug rotating bolt face provides positive lockup and, paired with the blued steel free-floated barrel, exceptional accuracy. Out of the box, the Supreme ships with a 10-round Magpul® PMAG® and a 5-round capacity limiter for compliance with hunting regulations. Using a box magazine eliminates the bullet restrictions inherent to traditional tube magazines, so over time, the platform will yield additional calibers never seen before in the lever-action category.

Coyotes are a Bonus on Late Season Deer Hunts

Coyotes have expanded their populations throughout the United States, and Eastern species have mated with feral dogs, creating a subspecies that can grow to 50 pounds.  As a primary deer predator, anything a hunter can do to reduce their numbers benefits the deer population, and most states have no restrictions on how they can be taken or how many.

Cell Phone Caller

Using your cell phone, you can increase the odds of arrowing a coyote.  Google “Rabit in Distress,” and you will get a 20-minute series of dying rabbit squeals.  If you are hunting from the ground, place the caller about 15 yards from your spot, turn it on, and return to your shooting spot.  Coyotes move quickly so sit with an arrow knocked and be ready to draw or raise your crossbow.  This is a great way to end a hunting day since you can engage your caller at the end of legal shooting light when you can probably see enough to shoot for another 10-15 minutes.

TEREN Designs: The Ultimate Travel Gear for Adventure and Style

The opportunity to test gear from a company comes around usually only once. This is the story of how I got to test TEREN Designs gear twice over 3 years and how that separation of time made all of the difference in my satisfaction. TEREN Designs is growing year after year with better and better gear built specifically for folks who like to travel and own clothes that will last more than a year or two. TEREN makes quality clothes for daily use and travel. These clothes are easy to clean and wear no matter where you travel in the world from the field to the city.

This year has been all about traveling from one side of the country to the other. I have had over 10 trips this year that were 2-5 days and learning to pack lightly has been a project that has been on my agenda for a few decades. It is not a trait that comes naturally but I got a new backpack this year that fits my computer perfectly and holds just enough clothes for 2-3 days.

The hunt for the right clothes was on until I saw Casey Hyde at the Outdoor Media Summit in Missoula, Montana. I had met Hyde a few years earlier at OMS and tested the daily driver pants and at that time those pants were not a fit for me. I was a bit heavier and while I liked the design of the pants and the quality they just didn’t sit right on my body and were the wrong style for me at that time. This year however, I am down almost 30 lbs and working out, eating healthier and feeling great. I want clothes that fit well, look great and are easy to care for while on trips.

Speaking with Casey, he was filled with pride about how far Teren Designs has come and his story of traveling the Camino De Santiago with TEREN Designs Clothes for 9 days had me hooked on two levels. One, I knew the clothes could hold up and the Camino is a trip that is incredibly high on my bucket list. I am currently in planning stages to take this trip within the next year. I agreed to test 2 pairs of pants, a long sleeve Merino shirt and the campfire puffy 2.0 jacket.

What sets TEREN apart is their thoughtful approach to travel-friendly design from quick drying pants to hidden pockets. Their Lightweight Traveler Pants and Daily Driver Pants showcase impressive versatility, seamlessly transitioning from outdoor adventures to urban settings. The innovative magnetic closure system is a game-changer for comfort during long journeys and acts perfectly to help the pants dry easily by sticking to the shower bar in the shower and they dry fast. From the antimicrobial properties of their Traveler Tee to the fire-resistant technology in the Campfire Puffy jacket, every feature serves a practical purpose for travelers and they are sty. The incorporation of premium materials like Merino wool and PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation demonstrates their commitment to quality. The thoughtful pocket placement and security features make their garments particularly suitable for international travel.

RITON OPTICS TO ATTEND ATA TRADE SHOW

TUCSON, AZ – Riton Optics will be attending the Archery Trade Association Show in Indianapolis, Indiana January 8-10. This marks the first time Riton will be in attendance for the ATA show.

“It was time for Riton to make an appearance at ATA,” said Brian Young, Vice President of Sales at Riton. “So many of the ATA attendees are also FFL dealers, and even those that aren’t cater to a wide customer base with significant optics needs. Riton is absolutely a solution those dealers should consider. We have the products that make sense, strong margins, and we’re an easy brand to work with. We make sense for the vast majority of the dealers at ATA.”

The renewed focus on the Primal family of products, the hunting portion of the Riton catalog, makes attendance at ATA logical as well.

“We’ve always had products that made sense for the hunter, but 2024 saw a renewed focus from the product and marketing team on the Primal family,” added Trent Marsh, Riton Optics Marketing Director. “With a full complement of binoculars, a popular spotting scope option, and the balance of the scopes, the Primal family has ATA written all over it. Factor in how many of the attendees cater to other segments of the shooting sports, and we needed to be in the room,” he concluded.

The team at Riton Optics and their line of products can be visited at booth 2650. Buyers in attendance will find promotions in their Big Buck Tag booklets, as well as other Q1 promotions available by talking with the Riton sales team.

Scent Thief to Unveil Three New No Smell Technology™ Products at 2025 ATA Show

As the 2024 season comes to a close, Scent Thief is proud to announce three new products for 2025! With the expansion of the No Smell Technology collection, hunters can rest assured they can stay undetected, both in and out of the stand.

The Scent Thief Whackstick is the latest evolution in No Smell Technology. Designed for in-the-field use and in unison with the Scent Thief Field Spray and Wafers, the Whackstick is oil and wax-based, offering longer-lasting effectiveness than other Scent Thief products. Designed for in-the-field use and to complement the Scent Thief Field Spray and Wafers, the Whackstick can be applied to tree branches, boots, stands, blinds, or any surface where Scent Thief is needed. Safe to use on all gear and surroundings, it helps hunters create a stronger “No Smell Area” in the stand.

When cleaning game becomes a mess and staying scent-free is a must, the Scent Thief Wild Wipes make it easier to keep clean. By combining the power of No Smell Technology with the versatility of a cleansing wipe, Scent Thief has created a one-of-a-kind product that can be used for everything from general cleaning to odor removal in the stand. Use them on hands, body, or any area needing a good wipe down when soap and water are unavailable.

Scent Thief introduces the 64-ounce Refill Bottle to keep hunters stocked for the season. This extended supply of Scent Thief Field Spray, the only product that temporarily disables an animal’s sense of smell, ensures hunters can stay undetected and prepared for every hunt. With an extended shelf life, the 64-ounce Refill Bottle is the ultimate backup for any hunting kit.

Scent Thief continues to lead the way in scent control for hunters. With the new additions of the Whackstick, Field Wipes, and the 64-ounce Refill Bottle for 2025, Scent Thief ensures hunters remain undetected with the most versatile arsenal of No Smell Technology products. Prepare for a successful season and hunt undetected.
