Halibut Recipe
Pan-Seared Halibut with Lemon Butter Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 halibut fillets (6-8 ounces each)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions:
- Pat the halibut fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Place the halibut fillets in the skillet, skin side down if the skin is still on, and cook for about 4-5 minutes until the bottom side is golden brown and crispy. Flip the fillets and cook for another 3-4 minutes until cooked through. The flesh should be opaque and easily flake with a fork.
- Remove the halibut fillets from the skillet and transfer them to a serving platter. Tent with foil to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Cook for another minute until the sauce is heated through.
- Pour the lemon butter sauce over the halibut fillets. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for added freshness and color.
- Serve the pan-seared halibut immediately while it's still hot. You can pair it with your favorite side dishes such as roasted vegetables, steamed rice, or a crisp salad.
This recipe highlights the natural flavor of halibut with a simple yet flavorful lemon butter sauce. The crispy seared exterior and tender flaky flesh of the halibut, combined with the tangy and buttery sauce, create a delightful combination that is sure to impress.
