Brownells Launches Complete BRN-9 Upper Receiver

Brownells customers can quickly assemble a 9mm AR-15 style firearm with the BRN-9 — the newest Brownells BRN series complete upper receiver — in stock and shipping now.

A self-contained upper receiver chambered in 9mm, the BRN-9 is blowback operated, runs suppressed or unsuppressed without adjustment, and fits onto any standard AR-15 or BRN-180 lower receiver.

Because the upper does not require a buffer assembly, it readily functions with a folding stock as an SBR or with no stock at all as a pistol. For 9mm SBR configuration, all NFA rules apply.

The BRN-9 is compatible with both 9mm-only lowers and common 9mm magazine well adapters, including those for Glock, Sig, Colt, CZ Scorpion and MP5 magazines.

The upper retains bolt catch functionality and works with last round bolt hold open lowers. The non-reciprocating charging handle can be switched to either side.

BAG YOUR TOM WITH HELP FROM THE HHA™ SPORTS TETRA RYZ BOW SIGHT

Take On Turkeys with Your Bow Outfitted with A Tetra RYZ Moveable Bow Sight

Wisconsin Rapids, WI – Adjustable bow sight technology leader HHA Sports brings decades of experience with single-pin bow sights and the company is now the leader in multi-pin moveable bow sight technology with the outstanding Tetra RYZ bow sights. Hunters looking to take on the challenge of archery turkey season will find that the Tetra RYZ sights are the best option for chasing active toms that can come in at unpredictable ranges.

“One of the biggest challenges when using archery equipment to hunt turkeys is finding the exact pin to use at the ranges turkeys can pop up at,” said Chris Hamm, Co-Owner and VP of Operations at HHA Sports. “The two-pin Tetra RYZ sights are perfect for making that difficult shot at such a small target area, regardless of the range. Once you are dialed in, you can wait out the turkey to make the best shot possible, with the knowledge and confidence that the RYZ sight gives you.”

Bowhunters will like that the HHA Sports Tetra RYZ and Tetra MAX RYZ sights have two pins contained within a single-pin structure, with a green top pin and the bottom pin, which comes in red or yellow. Getting it set up is simple, too. You sight in the top pin at 20 and 60 yards, and the bottom pin is automatically sighted in. The pins come in .010, .019-inch diameter that use HHA’s A.R.M.O.R. pin protection technology for long life and durability. The pin is housed in a 1-⅝ inch scope with a built-in level bubble and a mechanical rheostat option.

For hunters looking for added range, the Tetra Max RYZ uses a long-range version of HHA’s legendary Range. Dial. Shoot. Technology with water-resistant yardage tapes. The Max RYZ comes with the longest-range yardage tape HHA Sports has ever developed. The Long Range R.D.S. gives archers to-the-yard accuracy from 20 out past 100 yards with the simple turn of a wheel. The Infinite Adjust Slotted Side Bracket makes that process quicker, too. With 2.1-inches of travel, the Tetra Max RYZ has outstanding accuracy so hunters can be ready at whatever comfortable range the tom comes strutting in at.

NRA Shooting Illustrated Magazine Awarded Federal’s All-New 30 Super Carry Cartridge as a 2023 Golden Bullseye Award Winner

The National Rifle Association’s (NRA) Shooting Illustrated magazine selected Federal’s all-new 30 Super Carry Cartridge to receive its Golden Bullseye Award for 2023 Ammunition Product of the Year. Federal was presented with the award during a special reception on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“This brand-new cartridge is certainly gaining popularity with the masses. We couldn’t be more excited about our new product launch and the extremely positive recognition it has received from NRA publications and many others,” said Nick Sachse, Federal Ammunition’s Director of Handgun Product Management. “We are pleased that the editors at NRA’s Shooting Illustrated found that our new cartridge exceeded their evaluation expectations for function, reliability, innovation in design, and is a true value to the firearm owner.”

Now in their 21st year, the NRA Publications Golden Bullseye Awards acknowledge the finest products available in the shooting sports. The winners are selected by a seven-member committee consisting of editors, graphic designers, and veteran NRA Publications staff, representing more than a century of collective experience in the shooting and hunting industry.

“The 30 Super Carry Cartridge is a truly innovative new product in a very mature and crowded space, which certainly is not easy to do, thus it’s deserving of all the accolades,” continued Sachse. “We are extremely proud of this award, and we thank NRA publications for the great recognition.”

Federal’s 30 Super Carry cartridge carries like a 380 Auto and hits like a 9mm, which means shooters can increase capacity without sacrificing performance. Federal Ammunition has 100 years of experience producing ammunition and is the ideal company to develop a better concealed carry cartridge for the next generation of self-defense pistols, and that’s exactly what the company has accomplished with this introduction. With so many advantages over existing cartridges, 30 Super Carry stands to revolutionize self-defense.

NRA Reelects Charles Cotton as President, Wayne LaPierre as CEO/EVP at Indianapolis Board of Directors Meeting

77,246 people gather for NRA Annual Convention

Indianapolis, IN – The National Rifle Association of America (NRA) announces the election results from its Board of Directors Meeting held in Indianapolis, IN. Charles Cotton was reelected NRA President, former Congressman Bob Barr was elected as First Vice President, and David Coy reelected Second Vice President. Wayne LaPierre was again elected CEO and Executive Vice President.

In recognition of his extraordinary leadership these past two years, the NRA Board of Directors  voted unanimously to amend its bylaws to allow Cotton to succeed himself for a third term. In addition to his responsibilities as NRA President, Cotton is Chairman of the Audit Committee and a transformational leader.

LaPierre was re-elected by the NRA Board of Directors, who annually elect the CEO/EVP. The Board of Directors are elected by NRA members. This followed a vote at the NRA Members Meeting on April 15, 2023, where members expressed confidence in Mr. LaPierre. The weekend festivities were proceeded by the NRA-Institute for Legislative Action on April 14, 2023 – a gathering of thousands of pro-Second Amendment elected officials, presidential candidates, and grassroots supporters.

These announcements culminated a multi-day NRA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis that remembered those impacted by recent violence. NRA officials and guests used the meetings as a platform to support increased safety measures in public places, invest in law enforcement, and push for improved mental health services. During today’s meeting, the NRA recognized members of the U.S. military, law enforcement personnel, and others who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

From County 4-H to the College Stage: Kenlee Ewton Earns Air Rifle Success

When it comes to marksmanship, Kenlee Ewton, 18, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., is all in.

She’s a regular at the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Monthly Matches, an indoor competition series for air rifle and air pistol athletes. The event is held each month at the CMP’s own air gun ranges, the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center in Ohio and the Judith Legerski CMP Competition Center in Alabama.

For Kenlee, who chooses to compete at the Alabama location, the Monthly Matches are another way of training and interacting with likeminded individuals who share a common interest – marksmanship.

“I enjoy how most of the people in this sport support each other, despite being on different teams or what their scores are. The community is great,” Kenlee said. “It’s uplifting to see familiar faces at the Monthly Matches in Anniston. Plus, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it’s easy to get to know other shooters.”

She competed at the 2021 USA Shooting Winter Airgun event, reaching the top of the junior list. Photo courtesy of Scott Pilkington.

Kenlee is a hardworking athlete, earning a prestigious Junior Distinguished Badge #1453 in 2019. She also recently won gold at the Tennessee Junior Olympic qualifier for air rifle and silver for smallbore. How To Bowhunt Wild Turkey Gobblers: Part #1

How To Scout Wild Turkeys.

Almost every ‘scouting turkey’ article I’ve read over the years says that you must pre-season scout … and scout … and scout. Yikes! Believe me, there is an unwanted down side to scouting too much.

Frankly, I definitely want to spend as much time as possible scouting for wild turkeys. Alternatively, I make every effort to avoid being seen by, or spooking any wild turkeys. That includes single hens or Gobblers or Jakes or wild turkeys in a flock.

WHY? Wild Turkeys can SEE much farther than deer …  or us! They see the detail in those objects too, as well as color. And they pick up movement even better than deer do. A Gobbler or hen can spot you and me at 700-1,000 yards. Further if we are walking.

We stand erect so there is no doubt that we are a menacing human object.

The Scouting goal is to Learn Where Mature Gobblers And Jakes And Hens Are Showing Up At Certain Locations And At What Time.

Be Aware And Stay Safe DuringSpring Turkey Hunting Season

Youth Hunt Opens April 15; Hunting Season Opens April 19

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminds turkey hunters and outdoor enthusiasts to be aware and stay safe during the 2023 spring turkey season April 19 through May 30, 2023. The youth turkey hunt is April 15-16, 2023.

Hunters and public land users may be sharing fields and forests during the season and need to be aware and alert of others in their area. Hunters should follow safety rules, and non-hunters enjoying public lands should consider wearing blaze orange.

Hunter camouflage is an important part of hunting turkey, but it may also present a problem. The better camouflaged and concealed you are, the less likely another hunter will be able to see you, and the more likely you could be mistaken for a turkey.

Wearing the wrong color could put turkey hunters at risk. It’s especially important to avoid wearing red, white or blue. If a fellow hunter sees a flash of those colors through the brush, you could be mistaken for a turkey.

To dress for success and safety, follow these tips from the National Wild Turkey Federation:

Brownells Hosts 2-Time NCSSAA National Champion Shotgun Team

Brownells hosted the William Penn University shotgun team Wednesday, April 12, to celebrate their second consecutive NCSSAA National Championship at the Division IV level.

The Statesmen of Oskaloosa, Iowa, claimed their latest national title in March in Las Vegas, Nevada, topping 10 other teams with 1,423 clay targets broken out of a possible perfect score of 1,500 in Skeet, Trap and Sporting Clays combined.

Midland University and Concordia University, both located in Nebraska, finished second and third respectively at the 2023 national championship.

Back-to-back national titles in any college sport is impressive, but accomplishing it in only the third year of the team’s existence is a feat rarely equaled at any level of competition.

“This group of young adults is nothing short of amazing, both in the classroom and on the field,” said Steve Heaton, head coach of Men’s and Women’s Shotgun Sports at William Penn.  “The drive and passion they have for the task in front of them is indescribable. P2P on Display at NRA Annual Meetings

Prepared 2 Protect® products will be on display at booth 3242 at the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits. Held from April 14-16 in Indianapolis, it is the largest annual gathering of NRA members.

P2P products fire incapacitating, less lethal pepper rounds. They are a great alternative for locations where firearms are prohibited or for individuals who choose not to use a firearm in certain situations.

“Our less lethal lineup of self defense and home defense products empower people with the confidence and ability to protect what matters the most,” Justin Biddle, vice president of marketing, said. “Whether you’re hiking, jogging, shopping or doing any everyday activity, P2P helps you protect yourself, your family or your possessions by slowing the threat and allowing you to get to a safe place.”

The HDP 50 is a full-sized pistol that holds six .50-caliber pepper rounds. Launched by a CO2 cartridge, the HDP 50 can be stored with the cartridge sealed. A sharp slap of the Quick Pierce System quickly charges the pistol when needed. The HDP 50 Compact is a smaller, more concealable option that holds four rounds.

In addition to pepper rounds, P2P pistols can fire inert chalk practice rounds or rubber rounds so users can become familiar and confident with its use so they are prepared to protect.
