A month or two before your areas hunting season you should visit the hunting grounds in person to see exactly what the terrain is like and also note how the deer use the land.

You can also see how the wind flows through areas where you want to set up, which is very important in deciding precisely where to place treestands, ground blinds as well as trail cameras.

Also scouting should be done during the early season deer hunting time. You want to learn where deer are moving on the property.
