Delta Waterfowl EXPO Presents Pro Trainers from Eukanuba and Lucky Duck on the Duck Dog Stage

Training, healthcare, nutrition and equipment advice to be featured at The Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters EXPO

BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — The Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters EXPO, slated for July 29 to 31 at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, will feature three exhibit floor venues offering continuous activities throughout the event. The Duck Dog Stage, the Duck Hunters Stage and the Delta Waterfowl Stage will feature top-notch presentations all aimed at helping you enjoy duck hunting.

Eukanuba and Lucky Duck are sponsoring the Duck Dog Stage. Accompanied by their incredible dogs, members of their pro staffs will inform and entertain the EXPO audience.

“We are excited to join Delta Waterfowl this year at The Duck Hunters Expo,” said Brad Wadler, vice president of Eukanuba. “We are looking forward to sharing education on sporting dog nutrition, health and training so you can have your best season yet with your sporting dog. Join us and our partners Chris Akin, Josh Miller, Dr. John Myers and Lucky Duck at the Duck Dog Stage.”

The lineup for the Duck Dog Stage sponsored by Eukanuba and Lucky Duck includes:

Chris Akin, owner of Webb Footed Kennels —Akin has been training dogs for more than four decades. He learned by shadowing his father who was a professional dog trainer. By age 19, Akin was widely considered to be one of the best gun dog trainers of his generation. Akin has trained more than 3,800 dogs, and leads one of the most accomplished hunt test programs in the country. Since opening Webb Footed Kennels in Bono, Arkansas, his program has produced more than 350 Hunting Retriever Champions, 175 Master Hunters, and 35 Grand Hunting Retriever Champions. Akin’s personal titles include two Super Retriever Series championships and an ESPN Great Outdoor Games gold medal.

Josh Miller, owner of River Stone Kennels — After his college athletic career, Miller started to focus his future on his true passion, training gun dogs at his kennel in New Richmond, Wisconsin. He has been training professionally for nine years, and the dogs he has trained have been very successful in competition. Miller thrives in a range of training venues, including retriever hunt tests and horseback pointing dog field trials. His first passion, which stems from his waterfowl hunting roots, is breeding and training retrievers. Miller and his wife, Whitney, breed British Labradors. Miller spends as much time as he can over the winter months traveling the country with his dogs chasing waterfowl.

Dr. John Myers, DVM, Animal Kare Center — Myers graduated from Murray State University in 1990, and then Mississippi State University (DVM) in 1994. He grew up on a family farm in Ballard County, Kentucky. An avid waterfowl hunter, his interest in sporting dogs spurred his desire to become a veterinarian. As a practicing veterinarian since 1994, he has become very knowledgeable on nutrition of sporting and working dogs. He opened his own clinic in 1997, and practiced there until he joined the Animal Kare Center in 2019. The Animal Kare Center built a new state-of-the-art facility in Paducah, Kentucky, and Myers is now the sole veterinarian at the facility where comprehensive pet care, routine check-ups, surgeries, dental care, advanced laser therapy, radiology, boarding and grooming are offered. His passion for sporting dogs is evident in his family’s six retrievers.
