QUIET DOWN WITH FN’S NEW RIMFIRE SUPPRESSOR – THE CATCH 22 Ti

FN America, LLC is pleased to announce the release of the FN Catch 22Ti, the company’s first rimfire suppressor and second installment in its suppressor lineup following the FN Rush 9Ti released in 2022. The rimfire Catch 22 Ti is a lightweight, durable and quiet suppressor that has been optimized for versatility, spinning up to all suppressor-ready rimfires like the FN 502 Tactical. Designed for unmatched reliability, the Catch 22 Ti turns a normal day on range into an incredibly quiet blast.

“With the successful release of the 9mm Rush 9Ti last year, tackling the rimfire category is the next logical step as we expand our suppressor lineup and develop accessories that enhance our suppressor-ready firearms,” said Chris Cole, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for FN America, LLC. “The FN Catch 22 Ti is an extremely small and tough rimfire suppressor with very effective sound reduction and impressive reliability given the wide variety of .22 ammunition. While it delivers all these benefits to shooters in a compact and lightweight package, it’s also a blast when paired with an FN 502 Tactical.”

Reliability, especially when paired with the FN 502 Tactical, was a key performance metric in the development of the suppressor given the wide variability that is common with .22 ammunition. The Catch 22 Ti was subjected to an extremely rigorous endurance testing paired with the FN 502 Tactical and other .22-caliber firearms along with a variety of common rimfire ammunition loads to ensure functional reliability and platform adaptability would rise above the current products in market.

“During testing, FN ran the FN 502 Tactical suppressed with the FN Catch 22Ti to very high round counts, stopping only to perform routine cleaning and lubrication along the way,” said John Ryan, Director of Product Management for FN America, LLC. “The combination ran flawlessly from start to finish with zero malfunctions, which speaks volumes about the robust design of the Catch 22.”

Considering the effects of environmental elements and ammunition velocity, the pairing of the FN 502 Tactical with the Catch 22 Ti produces a significantly reduced sound signature that dramatically improves the shooting experience and is especially notable when paired with supersonic ammunition. The usual crack that is heard during unsuppressed fire is all but eliminated and the loudest sound that can be heard is the impact on steel.

Kuiu Mesa Vented Shirt Review by Gunner Hall

In South Georgia, it is not uncommon to have temperatures in the mid-90s on the opening day of dove season. The heat and humidity can be brutal for hunters. This year’s dove season was no different, so I was happy to test Kuiu’s Mesa Vented Long Sleeve Snap Shirt.

Kuiu designed this shirt for hunting in hot weather conditions. South Georgia is just the place to test out a product like this. The KUIU Mesa shirt is made from a 4-way stretch moisture-wicking material designed to push sweat away from your body, and the 4-way stretch material provides unrestricted movement. Both features come in handy while you are bird hunting in hot weather.

The vents on the back and shoulders and the vented underarms provided enough airflow to keep me comfortable all day in the South Georgia heat. Being able to stay cool in hot weather means you will not overheat and will be able to hunt longer.

Zippered pockets are a must-have for any hunting apparel. It is way too easy for me to lose my truck keys, phone, or license while afield. This shirt provides you with two chest pockets. The left pocket is zippered, and the right chest pocket is open. The zippered pocket was not big enough to hold my phone while closed but large enough to secure my hunting and driver’s license. The open pocket held my phone, with just a portion sticking out. It did not burden me from shouldering my shotgun and making those quick shots you are known to cause while hunting doves.

I wanted to try out the tab loops on each sleeve, which makes it easy to roll up the sleeves. The dove field was not the place to do this. The bugs would have had a feast on my bare arms, so I headed to the skeet fields. I could swing through my shots and hit the clay targets without feeling that my sleeves were bunched up and too tight to my skin, which often happens with other rolled-up sleeves.

Black Death with a string and a sharp stick by David Argo

“Black Death with a string and a sharp stick”. That’s the description I heard or read somewhere along the way for bow hunting a cape buffalo with a bow and arrow. I thought I would share my story just as a bit of entertainment and a little education.
I was hunting with Blackthorn Safaris in the Free State area of South Africa. This is the story of how I got “our” buffalo with a bow and arrow.

I explained to my PH (professional hunter) that I wanted to “walk, glass, sneak, peak, stalk, crawl, and shoot an old, hard, Cape buffalo with character and an attitude.”

This was my second buffalo hunt with a bow. I killed a nice, hard, free range buffalo in Zambia in the past. But I didn’t like the way I did it. I shot from the back of a truck. I made a terrible, terrible shot, just got lucky enough to hit a major artery way back on the animal. He only went 20 yards and laid down. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with hunting from the truck, but it just didn’t feel like a “real hunt” for me. And, I made such a horrible shot that it left a bad taste in my mouth. I was determined not to repeat. I wanted to hunt “my way” this time around. Alex Goss with Blackthorn Safaris set me up with the perfect PH. He listened and we made a plan.

The very first morning of the hunt we parked at the base of a mountain and set out on foot. We kept the wind in our faces and took every step as if an animal was just over the next rise. We climbed to the first plateau and glassed. Then the second, third, and fourth. As we stair stepped up the mountain we saw waterbuck, impala, and wildebeest off in the distance, but no buffalo. On the fifth and top plateau we encountered huge boulders, loose rocks, clumped grass, broom bush, and small shrubs. We were on top of the world with spectacular views all around us. Vella, my PH, was leading the way and stepped quietly around a shrub and froze like a statue. I followed suit. Although I couldn’t see anything but Vella’s backside, I understood he’d seen something. We stood crouched and frozen for several minutes until Vella slowly lowered to my level. He mouthed “big bull”! There was excitement and surprise in his words and on his face. I was shocked. I thought we’d climb to this area to glass, not to actually find a buffalo. I even asked him if he was sure. That drew a little grimace from him. Of course he was sure, this is what he’d been doing since he was a boy. I asked quietly, “is he a shooter”? “Absolutely” came the reply. So with the wind in our face and a clump of bushes between us and the buffalo, we approached as silently as possible. We got to within 30 yards of the buffalo fairly easily as he was grazing facing straight away and straight into the wind. I readied for the draw and shot. All he had to do was turn! turn! Well he didn’t. Instead, he took two huge steps and plopped down behind a broom bush and went to sleep. All we could see was the outline of his back and rear quarter. So we quietly moved to a large flat boulder that was 28 yards away and waited. Then we waited some more and more. We stood for 2 hours, literally two hours! I was shifting weight from one leg to the other, the bow from one hand to the other, kneeling to standing. It was all I could do not to reach down and throw a rock at him. After 2 hours of constant watching, we saw his tail swish, and he stood. On either side of the bush he was lying beside there was about a 2 foot window for a shot. So I came to full draw thinking that if he stepped either way I needed to be ready. Of course he didn’t step at all. I held the full draw as long as I could and was forced to let down. About 15 seconds after I let down, he took the perfect step to my right. I again went to full draw and lined up the shot: 1/3 up directly in line with the back of his front leg. This was the only area of his body I could see. The rump was still behind the bush and his head was behind the clump of brush. I went through my pre-shot routine and let the arrow fly. That 800 grain arrow looked like a spear arcing through the air. Perfect double lung shot. Then the strangest thing happened. The bull turned and looked right at me. He then looked to his right, then looked at me again. How do I know he was looking at me and not at the PH standing 3 feet away from me? I just know. I quickly knocked another arrow. That may have been a mistake, I don’t know. Maybe that’s what caused him to react. The bull snorted and blew blood out his nostrils and charged. Remember he was only 28 yards away. We were surrounded by boulders, loose rock, and scrub bushes. I remember the buffalo lowering his head as I let the second arrow fly. It buried about half way into his chest and the bull just crumbled dead 9 feet away with my arrow still sticking out of his chest. I looked at my bow and thought, “damn” that was a great shot. At that exact instant, I saw a silver flash go across my field of view. As I followed it to the ground, I recognized it as a spent rifle cartridge. I then looked at the PH and at the cartridge and back at the PH. He had shot at the exact moment I had released my arrow. I had been so focused that I hadn’t heard his shot and he had no idea that I had shot. But there was “our” bull exactly 9 feet away, dead with two arrows in his chest and one 0.416 Rigby slug dead center between his eyes.

We both stood there amazed, in disbelief, and shaking. That bull made a choice not to run away, but instead was going to take me out before he expired. I’ve read, watched videos, and now have seen first hand why they are called “Black Death.” After the animal was processed, the PH brought me the arrows and indicated the first shot was a true double lung shot and the second shot sliced his heart. Like the great PH that he is, he said that I had killed the bull. I nodded and said, “But, you stopped him”. The meaning was clear and mutually understood. See the picture: the bullet hole and the arrow are both seen. Thank you Vella!

(Maybe that shooting from the truck thing is not so bad after all.)

Essential Skills and Equipment for Successful Hunting Adventures

If you’re an avid outdoorsman, nothing is quite as exciting and thrilling as embarking on a hunting adventure. With the right skills, knowledge, and equipment, your hunts can be filled with success. Whether you are in pursuit of deer, geese, or some other wild game – equipping yourself for the hunt is essential if you want to bring home your prize! In this post, we’ll explore the essential skills needed for successful hunting as well as what kind of equipment will have you ready for any situation that may arise during your trip. With our tips in tow, you can confidently embark on your next hunting excursion confident that experiences will provide both satisfaction and joy!

Quality Hunting Firearm or Bow

One of the most fundamental pieces of equipment for any hunting excursion is a quality hunting firearm or bow. Whether you’re a traditionalist who prefers the silent precision of a bow or a modern hunter using a firearm, the choice largely depends on your comfort, skill level, and location. Looking for the best crossbow, best gun, or best bow can be a daunting task, but there are resources available to help you make an informed decision. Taking the time to learn about the benefits of each will ensure that you choose the right tool for your hunt.

Proficient Marksmanship and Weapon Handling

Equally as crucial as choosing the right weapon is developing proficient marksmanship and weapon handling. This involves more than just being able to hit your target – it’s about being able to do so consistently and under varying conditions. It’s also about knowing how to handle your weapon safely and effectively. To become a proficient marksman, invest time in learning about your chosen weapon, how it works, its capabilities, and its limitations.

Practice regularly at a shooting range or in a controlled environment and consider enrolling in hunting and firearm safety courses. Whether you’re using a bow or a firearm, understanding how to properly load, aim, and fire your weapon is a crucial skill that can mean the difference between a successful hunt and a missed opportunity. Remember, responsible hunting involves a commitment to continual learning and honing of these vital skills.

Optics for Spotting and Aiming

The role of high-quality optics in a successful hunt cannot be overstated. Good optics allow you to spot and target the game from a distance, offering you the advantage of preparation before making your move. Binoculars and spotting scopes are essential tools for spotting games from afar and assessing the environment. The quality of the glass and the magnification power are key factors to consider when choosing these.

BoatUS Foundation Receives $10 Million NOAA Grant forAbandoned and Derelict Vessel Removal ProgramTargeting Nation’s Coasts and Great Lakes

Nonprofit to develop competitive grant program to fund removal of
abandoned, derelict vessels. Includes prevention and education measures

Boats end up abandoned or derelict on our nation’s coasts for several reasons. Irresponsible owners abandon vessels when they can no longer afford to care for them or pay for their disposal. Poorly maintained, “at risk” anchored boats combined with the increasing frequency and severity of storms leave shorelines littered with wrecks after each hurricane. A four-year, $10 million grant from NOAA’s Marine Debris Removal Program to the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water aims to rid our nation’s shores of abandoned and derelict vessels (ADVs), and remove the associated pollution, navigation and safety hazards that can harm waters for years.

The grant, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is part of NOAA’s larger mission to address marine debris, which not only includes fiberglass boats but derelict fishing gear, plastics and other types of debris.

The grant directs the Annapolis, Maryland-based boating nonprofit to “…improve U.S. coastal and marine waters affected by abandoned and derelict vessels by facilitating removal and prevention activities across the country.”

Abandoned, derelict vessels in North Lake,

The majority of funds will kick-start a one-stop-shop competitive grant program to seek out and complete marine debris removal projects on our nation’s coasts (saltwaters) and in the Great Lakes for funding and support. Under the guidelines, any organization – public or private – will be able to apply for ADV removal funds.

Fall Power Fishing with Cliff Crochet

MLF Pro Explains When to Use Three Power Lures

Once the heat of summer finally breaks, bass populations begin to spread out in pursuit of foraging opportunities, which means bass often avoid making a singular location home for any great length of time. As an angler, this is when the power fishing tactics of chunkin’ and windin’ become key to keep up with the bass, and if you’re MLF Pro Cliff Crochet, it’s time to break out three main “power” lures: a frog, a spinnerbait, and a squarebill crankbait.

FROGGIN’

When asked the optimal time for throwing a frog, Crochet laughed and said, “Froggin’ is always the deal for me, with the exception of the winter months. Once the water temps start to dip below 60 degrees in the late fall to early winter, then I’ll put the frog away. Also, when we start getting those harsher cold fronts in late fall, the day immediately after the front passage can limit the bites on a frog. Other than that, the frog is in play for me”.

“No matter the time of year”, he adds, “the frog is about targeting isolated bass around isolated cover. In other words, it’s not a technique that’s going to put 100 bass in the boat, but the ones you catch will be better quality fish”. The Louisiana native looks specifically for outlying wood cover offering just enough shade to conceal a quality bass throughout the year. The fall is no exception to that rule. Additionally, he tends to avoid the big vast areas of dense cover, such as a huge field of lily pads, as these areas are often too inefficient to consistently find the bass.

Crochet’s choice of frog is a Snag Proof Phat Frog, tossed on his signature series 7’3” KastKing Spirale Rod (heavy action), a KastKing Speed Demon Deadbolt Reel spooled with 65-80# KastKing Hammer Braid line. The Spirale series has spiral line guides progressing under the blank toward the rod tip, which keeps the line off of the blank throughout the cast, as well as the hookset. Crochet says the reduced friction on the line assists in skipping the frog further and easier.

BDE Suppressors by PWS Excel in Comprehensive Testing by PEW Science

PEW Science, a trusted independent private testing laboratory, recently ran a series of tests on the PWS BDE 762 Suppressor with excellent results.

PWS is proud to showcase the results of the recent testing completed by PEW Science on the BDE (Bravo Delta Echo) 762 Suppressor. The renowned PEW Science laboratory provides the public firearm community with meaningful, comprehensive, unbiased sound signature testing and analysis for suppressed weapon systems. Their many decades of experience in this field have culminated into the “Silencer Sound Standard”, which is the “most accurate, comprehensive, and meaningful small arms sound signature rating certification available.” After a comprehensive review of the BDE 762 Suppressor on the Savage Model 10 PC .308, PEW Science gave the BDE a stellar 48.7 PEW Science Suppression Rating. This great rating system that PEW Science has developed showcases the suppressor’s sound suppression in conjunction with the volume of fire, from self-defense and limited hunting engagement all the way up to an extremely high volume of fire. The rating shows that the BDE 762 provided high suppression performance on a tactical or hunting rifle, significantly reducing the hearing damage risk to the operator. Further results from the testing showed that the BDE 762 also offers high performance in both long and short configurations, delivering moderate back pressure in the long configuration and low back pressure in the short configuration.

The BDE line of suppressors started in 2022 with the original 7.62x51mm offering—the BDE 762. All suppressors in the BDE line, including the new BDE 9BDE 22, and BDE 556 caliber additions are 3D printed out of Grade-5 titanium, which is lighter and stronger than traditionally machined titanium (6al-4V). The 7.62, 5.56, and 9mm modular suppressors in the BDE line are finished with a durable PVD outside coating, while the .22 suppressor is finished with a DLC coating inside and outside for a durable, easy-to-clean finish. Each suppressor includes an exterior textured design that dissipates heat and mirage, regardless of round count. Tapered threading prevents carbon locking and loosening between baffles, while symmetrical internal baffles enhance accuracy. Each 762 and 556 suppressor features the Universal 1.375×24 TPI pattern for compatibility with most suppressor mounts. The 9mm BDE suppressor is equipped with the universal 1.125-28 TPI pattern and the BDE 22 fits standard 1/2×28 muzzle threads. The entire lineup is lighter and quieter than other suppressors on the market, with the BDE 22 currently the lightest 5.7x28mm .22 suppressor on the market.

Blake Young, Director of Engineering at PWS, had this to say: “We are extremely pleased, yet not surprised, to see the exceptional performance characteristics of the BDE 762 from PEW Science. Their professional approach to independent testing is recognized as the leading authority on unbiased suppressor ratings and the results speak for themselves. We look forward to continuing to have Jay and his team review additional models for PWS in the very near future.”

Be sure to read the full article and review the testing data by PEW Science.

Users can stay on target with accuracy and precision at extended ranges, unmatched by any other semi-auto handguns.

The FN PS90 utilizes blowback operation and fires from a closed bolt for greater accuracy and reliability. The 16-inch cold hammer-forged MIL-SPEC barrel is equipped with an integrated muzzle brake to reduce the already negligible recoil generated from the 5.7 cartridge. Dual magazine latches, cocking handles and an innovative synthetic thumbhole stock with a molded-in sling attachment point help make the FN® PS90 fully ambidextrous.

HEVI-Shot Ammunition Releases New HEVI-XII Waterfowl Loads

HEVI-Shot is proud to release new product line additions to its HEVI-XII Waterfowl load lineup. HEVI-XII is the original 12-g/cc density, tungsten alloy recipe from HEVI-Shot. This full product line is available in an extensive list of including several new heavier payload options in shot size No. 2, 4 or 6, in 12- or 20 gauge. This new product is now shipping to dealers and is available.

HEVI-XII | Hevi Shot

“Everyone that has shot HEVI-XII has fallen in love with it,” said HEVI-Shot product manager Scott Turner. “The only feedback we received was that some hunters wanted heavier payloads for late season birds, so we delivered on that request with several new options for 2023.”

HEVI-XII pellets hit harder from a longer distance. Its pellet material features a density of 12 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cc), meaning it is 53.8 percent denser than steel–doubling the downrange energy. Shooters can drop three shot sizes for the same lethality and 28 percent more devastating pellets on target.

“HEVI-XII outperforms steel in every category. Smaller and more dense pellets penetrate deeper with more lethal pellets in a tighter pattern compared to shooting steel loads,” continued Turner. “If you pack HEVI-XII in, you’ll walk out carrying extra weight from harvested game. HEVI-XII delivers more kills, fewer cripples, and better stories. Plus, we proudly make the metal alloy and pellets, and load the shotshells the U.S.A.”

BLM Announces $3.5 million partnership with Mule Deer Foundation

The Bureau of Land Management joined partner organizations yesterday to announce Inflation Reduction Act investments and collaborations for six large-scale restoration and conservation efforts.

BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning was joined by leaders of the Mule Deer Foundation, and Trout Unlimited to make the announcement and share details about how the investments will help local western communities. This includes funding for potential projects in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Steve Belinda, Chief Conservation Officer, for the Mule Deer Foundation, said “MDF has enjoyed a meaningful partnership with BLM for many decades now and this continuations will allow MDF to move forward with landscape scale habitat work which will have broad reaching benefits to both communities and animal species”. Mr. Belinda went on to say “the organization is looking at “multiple places” to conduct projects across southern Utah, the Utah-Idaho border, and Colorado to help mule deer herds in the area. These would be in coordination with federal, state, and tribal organizations, as well as private landowners”.

As part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, these partnerships will help BLM implement critical conservation projects in sagebrush, forest, grassland, desert, and aquatic ecosystems through a collaborative approach with Tribes, States, and other partners. The investments will leverage additional funding, connect to local communities, and ensure the long-term success of restoration efforts on public lands.

BHA Receives $2.5 Million from BLM to Fuel Habitat Stewardship Work

Partnership invests Inflation Reduction Act dollars in projects across Western states over five years, benefiting big-game migration corridors and priority habitat for other species, including sage grouse

WASHINGTON – Critical wildlife habitat, including big-game migration corridors and sage grouse habitat, will benefit from a new partnership between the Bureau of Land Management and Backcountry Hunters & Anglers. Inflation Reduction Act dollars are underwriting the project work, which will be focused on a number of Western states, including California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming.

Under the partnership agreement, the BLM will invest $2.5 million over five years in BHA-led projects for fence modification and removal, habitat improvement and overall stewardship initiatives. Populations of pronghorn, mule deer, elk and bighorn sheep will benefit through the elimination of barriers to their movement and by improving habitat connectivity on and around BLM lands. Sagebrush country and critical habitat supporting grouse populations also stand to gain via targeted fence removals, which will reduce both fence-grouse collisions and predation perches for corvids and raptors.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Bureau of Land Management and leverage historic investments in conservation to elevate BHA’s commitment to improving connectivity for big game migration corridors,” said John Gale, BHA vice president of policy and government relations, “as well as scaling up our wildlife habitat stewardship projects across the West.

“Our outdoor traditions and Western heritage rely on the conservation of our natural resources, along with a shared obligation to ensure the health of our fish and wildlife populations,” Gale continued. “Through fence removal and modification, habitat restoration, work with ranchers, and inspiring future generations of habitat stewards, we can unite people around common values. By working with critical management agency partners like the BLM, we can establish a lasting model to inform all our conservation endeavors still to come.”

Scent Thief’s Trophy Pack Aids Hunters in Bagging the Trophy of their Dreams

Get ready to dominate hunting season with the unmatched potency of the Scent Thief® Trophy Pack. Meticulously crafted to give hunters a distinct advantage, this all-inclusive assortment of scent-blocking products guarantees the stealthy concealment of odors, significantly enhancing the likelihood of capturing that prized trophy.

At the heart of the Scent Thief Trophy Pack stands the groundbreaking 24oz Scent Thief Field Spray. Harnessing the patented “No Smell” technology, this remarkable product effectively shuts down an animal’s olfactory ability, rendering them incapable of detecting any odor.

As part of the comprehensive Scent Thief No Smell System, the 16oz Scent Thief Body Wash and Shampoo provides a vital component. Designed for general hair and body cleansing, Scent Thief Body Wash and Shampoo utilizes the same patented odor-blocking technology as the Field Spray, neutralizing an animal’s sense of smell.

To ensure a scent-free hunting experience, the 32oz Scent Thief Laundry Detergent is a crucial addition to the hunter’s arsenal. This phosphate-free detergent is compatible with regular and HE washers and remains safe for technical fibers, carbon apparel, and wool. Combine it with the full line of odor-blocking products for maximum effectiveness, eliminating any chance of an animal detecting human presence.

Embrace the future of scent control technology with the Scent Thief Wafer, the next evolution in No Smell Technology. By simply hanging the wafer in a tree or blind, the wind becomes an ally as it carries the wafer’s scent, creating a “No Smell Area” around the hunter. Using the wafer alongside the Field Spray will produce optimal results, especially in windy conditions. The oil-based wafer evaporates slowly, synergizing perfectly with the water-based spray for unparalleled effectiveness.

Range Officer Feature: Bruce Tillotson

Ready on the right? Ready on the left? Ready on the firing line. If you’ve been to Camp Perry for the National Matches, you’ve heard those words time and time again. The range officers have the important job of ensuring the matches run safely and efficiently, but more than that, becoming part of the CMP NM Support Team is an experience that will leave you with lifelong friendships, a sense of community, and give you a unique way to be a part of the historic National Matches at Camp Perry.

Kathy Harding, CMP’s chief range officer, explains the primary responsibility of a range officer is safety: Making sure magazines are out, actions are open and safety flags in. Each line range officer is assigned a section of firing points to be in charge of, usually around 10, but it depends on the match.

“Some other duties include pit to line communication for things like marking targets, assisting with challenges and communicating with center line if an armorer is needed, delay updates or competitor issues,” she said. A newer range officer will be assigned a place between two experienced range officers so they’re never far away from someone who can help. If you don’t know what any of that means, don’t worry there is training for that!

Bruce communicates with a competitor to resolve an issue during a long range match.

Meet Bruce Tillotson. He has been part of the CMP NM Support Team at the National Matches as a Range officer for nine years. He is from Lodgepole, Nebraska, a small town with a population of 314 that boasts a gas station and a post office. He works installing solar water systems for ranchers to pump water for the cattle. In 2014, he saw an ad in the NRA American Rifleman Magazine looking for volunteers and decided to come give it a try. Although Bruce has been volunteering at Camp Perry for 9 years, he considers himself a newbie compared to some of the other support team members.

The first year was a learning curve for Bruce; everything was new and a little overwhelming. After one of the matches there was a group of range officers sitting in a table at the end of the day in the shade and invited Bruce to join as he walked by. “They had seen me struggling and so that’s when I learned the value of having somebody else that you can talk with about what went on in the day, get advice and you know, camaraderie or so.” This moment inspired Bruce to get together with three or four range officers to stay in a house on the base each year.
