New for 2022, Hunters Find Ultimate Cold-Weather Hunting Gear in Nomad’s Conifer NXT Series

Late season hunts usher in frigid temperatures and often the hottest deer activity of the season. Savvy hunters know that, with the exception of the rut, nothing brings out mature bucks in daylight like freezing temperatures. Deer must feed to supply the necessary energy to stay warm. Thankfully, Nomad’s Conifer NXT Line is designed specifically for these moments.

The Nomad Conifer NXT Jacket and Bibs provide maximum protection and superior huntability in harsh winter conditions. Boasting a whopping 35K waterproofness and 15K breathability rating in their windproof shells, the jacket and bibs feature three unique layers that keep cold winds, rain and snow out while allowing sweat and condensation to dissipate through the shell. The jacket and bibs utilize sound-limiting fabrics that make them virtually silent, while their generous cut makes for easy layering. The Conifer NXT Jacket and Bibs feature stain-resistant fabrics so that stains can be easily washed out.

The Conifer NXT Jacket is a must for any late-season hunter. The jacket includes PrimaLoft® insulation in the outer shell, with 100g in the body and 80g in the sleeves for a proportional distribution of heat. Additionally, the jacket sports a three-piece hood with adjustments for added warmth and comfort. Strategically located, sherpa-lined hand-warmer pockets are a nice touch on a cold day. Two waterproof zip chest pockets provide a dry place for a wallet, phone, hunting license and other valuables. Additional waterproof cargo pockets are ideal for keeping necessities within reach. The jacket also features a rear port to allow for a safety harness under the jacket.

Built on a solid, windproof, waterproof and breathable outer shell, Nomad’s Conifer NXT Bibs offer hunters excellent protection and a strategic advantage for late-season hunts. The bibs sport 100g of PrimaLoft® insulation yet provide plenty of room for layering. Adjustable suspender straps and waist, as well as a four-way stretch cross gusset, provide a custom fit. The bibs feature two fleece-lined cargo pockets, and a zippered chest pocket are conveniently placed for gear storage. Zip-to-hip leg zippers allow hunters to slip into these bibs even with boots on.

The Conifer NXT jacket and bibs feature Mossy’s Oak Hybrid Droptine camouflage pattern exclusive to Nomad. The pattern offers exceptional depth with sharp-edged contrast and will work well for whitetails from the east coast to west coast.

Dakota Grizzly Announces Fall 2022 Collection Outdoor Retailer + Snow

Retailer Commitments Stronger than ever, halting online sales for the season

DKOTA Grizzly, a distinctly crafted Midwestern men’s lifestyle apparel brand, announces its Fall ’22 line and clean new brand look. DAKOTA Grizzly opened its Fall 2022 line for pre-bookings earlier than ever with 17 new styles and fabrics inviting its retailers to ‘Discover DKOTA’.

The St.Louis based Midwest Maker continues its steady growth with its core base of independent retailers, as it delivered over 99% of Fall 2021 pre-bookings and was even able to fill many in-season reorders.

“Our retailer’s stores were full and sell-throughs were strong,” said Rob Rosenblum, DKOTA Partner and Chief Brand Officer. “ To make this happen, we made the unprecedented decision to shut down e-commerce sales entirely during the supply chain crisis and we never looked back.”

It proved to be a great decision, because of the strong ‘21 sales, prebooks for 2022 are up significantly.

Kemp Announcements: Bring Constitutional Carry to Georgia; 2025 NRAAM to be held in Atlanta

Fairfax, Va.  – Gov. Brian Kemp doubled down on his support for the Second Amendment on Wednesday at an event where he said he’d like to bring constitutional carry to Georgia.

“We shouldn’t have to claw back a civil right, a God-given right to defend ourselves. We shouldn’t have to argue the restrictions placed on government of four simple words ‘shall not be infringed.’ However, people who hate freedom persist, so 21 states have made America safer by passing constitutional carry,” said NRA Vice President Lt. Col. Willes K. Lee.  “We’re pleased to stand here with Gov. Kemp today as he announces he will work to bring this protection to Georgia.”

At the event at a gun store outside Atlanta, Kemp also announced that Georgia will welcome the NRA and tens of thousands of its members in 2025 when the Annual Meetings and Exhibits returns to Atlanta.

“The NRA will return to Georgia in 2025 because it’s a great state with tens of thousands of NRA members and supporters. We look forward to celebrating our freedoms here and gathering to strengthen the fight against the anti-gun zealots who wish to leave Americans defenseless.”

Kemp, who spoke at the event along with Former Congressman Bob Barr and other legislators and leaders, emphasized the importance of the Second Amendment amid the current climate of rising crime and defunded police departments.

New for 2022, Nomad Brings Hunters the Ultimate Combination of Stealth & Comfort With its Cottonwood NXT Camo Fleece Apparel

Fleece is a marvel of modern outdoor clothing technology and the first piece of gear every hunter grabs when there’s a chill in the air. The product development team at Nomad has taken this time-tested fabric and crafted some of the most effective whitetail hunting systems on the market. Nomad’s new Cottonwood NXT Collection is loaded with features to keep hunters covered from head to foot in warm, silent, and camouflaged fleece.

The Cottonwood NXT Collection consists of a jacket, pants, cap and flip mitts. The secret behind Nomad’s Cottonwood NXT Berber fleece is the utilization of super-long fibers that trap air, making hunters warmer and more comfortable – longer. All garments in the Cottonwood line provide excellent protection from the cold through a wind-blocking, sherpa-lined membrane. Not only does the Cottonwood NXT Collection provide unbeatable protection against the bitter cold, but they give hunters the edge with close encounters with their quarry. Both the jacket and pants utilize sound-limiting fabrics that reduce unwanted noise. Hunters will also appreciate the stain-resistant fabrics that repel the nastiest of stains.

Thoughtfully built with hardcore whitetail hunters in mind, the Cottonwood NXT jacket is not only comfortable but provides strategically placed pockets for storing essential gear. Combining a 4-way stretch fabric, contoured full-length zipper, and 4-way gusseted underarm panels offer an exceptional range of motion so that climbing in and out of lock-on stands is a breeze. Hunters will appreciate the 3-piece adjustable drop hood and sherpa-lined zippered pouch to help keep ears and fingers toasty in the howling winds and frigid temps. Two zippered front pockets provide access to precious gear such as cell phones, snacks and calls. A separate rangefinder pocket provides hunters instant access to a rangefinder when the moment of truth comes. The jacket also features a safety harness port for added convenience.

Early morning treks through moonlit woods and heavy frost require special outerwear. For all-day during the rut, Nomad’s Cottonwood pants help hunters stay quiet and warm. The pants feature Nomad’s Ever-Adjust waistband, removable suspenders, and a high-back waist, so they stay in place, keeping out cold air. The Cottonwood pants employ Nomad’s crescent-cuff design on the legs. This unique feature prevents the heel of a boot from catching on the rim of the pants. Zippered leg openings help the pants glide over the boots during the on/off process. The Cottonwood NXT Pants provide ample pocketing for gear storage. The pants feature sherpa-lined hand-warmer pockets as well as cargo pockets to provide even more space for knives, phones or calls.

The men’s Harvester Cottonwood NXT Collection is available in either Mossy Oak® Hybrid Droptine and Realtree Edge. Exclusive to Nomad, Mossy Oak’s new Hybrid Droptine is an entirely new way of looking at camouflage design. Combining natural elements into an abstract matrix, the resulting pattern’s color and contrast blend seamlessly into the fall woods.

3 Surefire Tips for Calling in More Bobcats

Make your next bobcat hunt a success, with these tried-and-true strategies.

Notoriously wary, bobcats challenge the most experienced hunters. Because of bobcats’ fine-tuned senses, they can certainly be difficult to call in. Even so, successfully calling in one of these wary cats provides an adrenaline rush unlike any other, as many hunters have discovered.

While calling in a bobcat is anything but easy, a few simple strategies can help you get the most out of your next hunt.

First, up your game by using a higher quality electronic call that produces better sounds. Many older electronic calls feature a horn-style speaker system and run off of AA batteries; neither is ideal for creating a premium sound quality. Convergent’s Bullet HP, however, features a powerful, integrated Li-ION rechargeable battery and conical speaker design, which is the style of speaker most often used for the best sound quality today. Because it produces a more vibrant, fuller sound, the Bullet HP is a simple yet effective way to draw in those leery, call-shy bobcats that never present a shot.

Second, don’t give the local bobcat population a free education. With so many new and inexperienced hunters heading afield, it’s common to see older, cheaper calls getting a lot of airtime in the field. The result is a highly call-literate population, making these notoriously skittish critters even more challenging to call into shooting range. A call with poor sound quality is a great way to give a free education, which is why a quality call, like the Convergent Hunting Solutions Bullet HP Bluetooth electronic call, is so crucial to the success of your next hunt.

CMP 2022 Competition Rules Are Now Online

By Gary Anderson, DCM Emeritus

The annual process of reviewing and updating CMP competition rulebooks is nearing completion with this announcement and the posting of the 2022 rulebooks on the CMP website. The CMP competitions program began in 1996 with only two disciplines, Service Rifle and Service Pistol. CMP competitions have now grown to include separate disciplines for Service Rifle, Service Pistol, .22 Rimfire Pistol, Service Revolver, As-Issued Military Rifle (Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military Rifle, M1 Carbine, Modern Military Rifle, Vintage Sniper Rifle), As-Issued Pistol (M9, M1911, M&P Service Pistol) and Rimfire Sporter Rifle competitions where the CMP is the national governing body. The CMP also issues rules for Match Pistol (3-gun pistol), Long-Range and Mid-Range Rifle, Smallbore Rifle (position and prone), Air Rifle, and Air Pistol to govern events it conducts in conjunction with the National Matches, CMP Competition Games, and other match sanctioning programs.

To govern this complex array of target rifle and pistol disciplines, the CMP now publishes five different rulebooks. They are listed here together with links where the 2022 editions of these rulebooks may be downloaded:

CMP rulebooks are updated annually to accommodate new program developments, clarify rules issues, and incorporate recommendations from competitors, match sponsors and CMP staff. The rule revision process starts anew each year after the National Matches and continues through the fall when the next year’s rulebooks are drafted, reviewed, and approved. The CMP rules process relies on a group of “Rules Advisors” consisting of CMP staff and outside technical experts to evaluate and recommend rule changes. MidwayUSA Foundation Launches First Online Auction to Benefit Youth Shooting Sports

Columbia, MO – In a continued effort to fund the next generation of outdoor men and women through youth shooting sports, MidwayUSA Foundation has launched another way to raise funds. Through a partnership with Eventgroove, Bozeman, MT, MidwayUSA Foundation now has live, online auctions. Every winning bid is a donation to the endowment of the auction winner’s choice and like other donations made to youth shooting team and organizational endowments, these donations will also be matched through the Matching Program, funded by Larry and Brenda Potterfield.

The first Eventgroove auction offered by MidwayUSA Foundation is a Walther P22 Nickel Pistol.  This online auction began January 3 and will close January 9, 2022. “We are proud to offer additional and unique ways to fundraise.  Having great sponsors like Walther will ensure these auctions are successful,” said MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director, G. Scott Reynolds. The Foundation plans to introduce new auctions each month but will offer an additional January auction in the coming weeks.  The next online auction includes chances to be part of an exclusive pheasant hunt with Larry and Brenda Potterfield at Pheasant Bonanza in Tekamah, Nebraska. Visit https://musaf.fundyouthshootingsports.org/ to view the current and upcoming auctions offered by MidwayUSA Foundation.

Every donation to a shooting team’s respective endowment grows that team’s annual cash grant.  Cash grants provide crucial funds to offset the many expenses youth shooting teams incur.  Covering the cost of ammunition, competition fees, targets, or travel can allow more young athletes the chance to participate in shooting sports.  Many of these shooting sports athletes become future hunters and conservationists.  An investment in youth shooting sports is an investment in the entire outdoor industry.

About Eventgroove, the one-stop integrated platform for events and fundraisers, is pioneering a radical customer-centric approach to SaaS events and ecommerce. Eventgroove serves over 76,000 customers across the nonprofit, entertainment, education, sports, faith, and civic sectors.

MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to sustain and grow youth shooting sports by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams. Every donation made is tax-deductible and allows the Foundation to assist in expanding and enhancing the leadership skills, confidence, and discipline of today’s youth through shooting sports activities. The Foundation supports all shooting disciplines.
