NWTF and TriStar Renew Their Partnership

EDGEFIELD, S.C.—The National Wild Turkey Federation renewed its partnership with TriStar Arms, aiming to increase hunting participation nationwide.

Through the partnership renewal, TriStar is an official NWTF National Mentored Hunt sponsor. Hundreds of state and local NWTF chapters across the country host mentored hunts that introduce new or lapsed hunters to the outdoors.

NWTF’s mentored hunts entail a learning and safety course, the hunt itself and, often, a how-to wild gaming cooking component. NWTF state and local chapters host these events throughout the year for a variety of game animals, including wild turkeys, deer and dove, among others.

TriStar is also a sponsor for the NWTF Mentored Hunt Incentive Program, which encourages people to continue to mentor new hunters outside of NWTF mentored hunts.

“Having dedicated partners like TriStar is critical in combating the decline in hunting participation,” NWTF CEO Becky Humphries said. “We are proud to continue our partnership with TriStar and, together, leverage resources, expertise and dedication to ensure hunters continue to serve as America’s leading conservationists today and long into the future.”

Increasing the number of hunters is a priority for the NWTF to preserve our hunting heritage and bolster conservation efforts nationally. The excise tax on firearms and ammunition provide significant funding to conservation efforts in every state. These funds get distributed to state natural resource agencies that partner with the NWTF and other interested parties and can leverage funding to a level that makes a substantial impact for wildlife conservation and for outdoorsmen and women alike.

“Partnering with NWTF on this initiative was an easy call,” TriStar President Gus Bader said. “TriStar has always been proactive in welcoming new hunters and shooters. By leveraging our resources, we firmly believe this partnership will achieve a greater number of new hunters to take part in the totality of conservation. NWTF has created a number of programs that promote core values within hunting and conservation. TriStar shares these same values, and together we hope to make a meaningful impact that will continue to pave the way for generations to come.”

About the National Wild Turkey Federation
When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were about 1.3 million wild turkeys in North America. After decades of work, that number hit a historic high of almost 7 million turkeys. To succeed, the NWTF stood behind science-based conservation and hunters’ rights. Today, the NWTF is focused on the future of hunting and conservation through its Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative. Since 2012, this 10-year initiative has already eclipsed goals of conserving or enhancing more than 4 million acres of essential wildlife habitat, recruiting or retaining more than 1.5 million hunters and opening access to more than 500,000 acres for hunting and other recreation opportunities. This critical work will continue to impact wildlife habitat and our great outdoors in the final years of the initiative.
