Hunting Tips - Pressure Points

Understanding a game animal's anatomy is critical for a humane and successful harvest. This guide focuses on identifying and targeting key "pressure points," which are areas that will lead to a quick and ethical take.

The Heart-Lung Vitals

The most commonly targeted and effective pressure point is the heart-lung area. This large zone offers the best chance for a quick, ethical shot.


The Shoulder or "Knock-Down" Shot

While often debated, a high-shoulder shot can be a fast, incapacitating option, especially for large or dangerous game.


The Neck Shot

A neck shot targets the spine or the carotid arteries/jugular vein. While highly effective when executed perfectly, the margin for error is small.


The Head Shot

The smallest and most risky target is the head. It is generally not recommended for ethical hunting due to the small target area for the brain.
