1. Laundry: Wash all hunting clothes in a specialized, scent-free detergent. Do not use standard detergents, fabric softeners, or dryer sheets. Store clean clothes in an airtight container or bag, like a heavy-duty plastic tote or scent-proof bag.
2. Shower: Shower with scent-free soap and shampoo before heading out. Focus on areas that tend to sweat heavily. Do not use deodorants, colognes, or scented hair products.
3. Application: Apply a scent-elimination spray to your body and all gear—including boots, backpacks, and weapons—immediately before walking to your stand or blind.

Managing Scent in the Field

While in your hunting area, continue to manage your scent with these tips:

• Wind Direction: Always hunt downwind of where you expect the game to approach. Wind direction is your primary defense against detection. Check the forecast before your hunt and monitor it with a wind-checker puff bottle or similar tool while hunting.
