HUCK Performance Bucket Stands Up to Tough Jobs

Being a competitive equestrian in my teens and twenties, I went through an average person’s lifetime of buckets. I bought buckets with sturdy handles and what the industry labeled indestructible. Rarely well-used buckets last longer than a few months. Now, as an avid outdoors enthusiast, I seldom embark on a trip that doesn’t include at least one bucket. The problem is that the typical bucket, repurposed or not, never last and is not always dependable–I needed a performance bucket. 

I was introduced to the HUCK Performance Bucket this summer. At first, I thought it was just a pricey bucket with a cool look. As I started using the bucket, I found it to be much more than just another “pretty bucket.” My first experience was on a deep-sea fishing trip earlier this summer, and this trip made me appreciate the features of the HUCK Bucket.

The trip was a huge success, and once we were docked and emptying our catch for the day, I noticed the solid non-skid, non-marking Vibram footholds were highly stable on the edge of the boat surface even as it rocked with the wakes of other boats docking around us.

Not only was it stuck solid to the surface, wet or dry, but the 3/8th-inch raised bucket base allowed water to flow at the cleaning table without picking the bucket up to wash around it. The finger indents on the handle allowed me to carry the bucket without hand pain, even with the bucket full of big red snapper.

The following weekend after our fishing trip, I took the bucket to the woods to spread bait for hog hunting. I have been through so many buckets baiting hogs. The handles break, I drop them from hand pain from the wire handles, or they crack when I smack them around, trying to empty the hog hooch I brewed in the bucket.

Dipping is where the Vibram foot holds on the bottom of the buckets, with the grooved finger grips coming in handy. Dipping corn or peanuts out of the one-ton bag puts a lot of strain on me with an ordinary five-gallon bucket. That was not the case with the HUCK bucket, as I didn’t have to wrestle with the weight of the bucket to dump the feed out. The stay-put-handle was helpful too when setting the bucket down to get to the top of feeders, no more fishing for the handle. 

HUCK on the Range

This weekend we will be tuning our crossbows for the season after having the strings and cables replaced on them. The HUCK Bucket is ready with arrows, a rangefinder, binoculars, Allen wrench tools, target sheets, and a towel ready for the range. I look forward to other uses: being on the stand-up paddle board, in the kayak, and canoe.

How tough are HUCK Performance Buckets?

The SpryTech material construction of the HUCK Bucket is far superior to other buckets’ cheap high-density polyethylene (HDPE) materials. The low-density HDPE, such as what you find in the walls of buckets, breaks down in harsh cold temperatures and high heat. Of all the fantastic features of the HUCK Performance Bucket, the Vibram handholds and feet, which also serve as grips, are my favorite. The reinforced handle, high-impact materials, and added Vibram footing and grips make the HUCK Performance Bucket far superior to the typical five-gallon bucket.

The two most significant issues with other buckets are that the handle breaks off at the bucket or the bucket cracks in extreme cold or heat. The 3/8th -inch flange on the inside and outside of the bucket wall with stainless steel bolt adds incredible strength to the bucket handle allowing it to hold heavy weights without failing.

Is HUCK Performance Bucket worth the investment?

The HUCK Performance Bucket has a steeper price tag than the typical run-of-the-mill five-gallon bucket, but if you factor in the fact that the company stands behind every bucket they make, that is worth the investment alone. The HUCK warranty states, “If you are not satisfied with the bucket at purchase or its performance during use, or if you experience any damage due to typical wear and tear, HUCK will replace, refund, or repair at a reasonable charge.”

I plan for the HUCK Performance Bucket to be around for many years and many more adventures–on the water, in the woods, on the range – or anywhere a bucket is necessary. The HUCK Performance Bucket might be the last bucket you ever purchase.
