Different species of corvina can be found in both saltwater and freshwater environments. Here are a few types of corvina found in Mexico:

  1. Gulf Corvina (Cynoscion othonopterus):
    • The Gulf corvina is a species of drum fish found in the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez). It is an important commercial and recreational fish species in the region.
  2. Yellowfin Corvina (Cynoscion albus):
    • Yellowfin corvina, also known as white seabass or corvina blanca, is another species found in the Gulf of California and along the Pacific coast of Mexico. It is a popular target for both sport and commercial fishing.
  3. Spotted Corvina (Cynoscion stolzmanni):

Corvina species are valued for their tasty and firm white flesh, making them popular targets for both commercial and recreational fishing. Additionally, some species of corvina may have specific size and catch limits to protect their populations.
