The DC Project Message Resonates on Capitol Hill

TULSA, OK. – The DC Project, Women for Gun Rights, returned to Washington, DC, September 13-16, 2022, to deliver its core message to Congress. The group’s fifty-one delegates representing forty-eight states met with legislators from both sides of the aisle, advocating gun rights are human rights. Their effort concluded with a rally on the steps of the United States Supreme Court.

DC Project Founder Dianna Muller commented, “This was our fifth fly-in and it was the most impactful trip we have experienced.” Muller added, “We built bridges by sharing our personal and emotional stories of violence while emphasizing solutions the firearms industry is spearheading in mental health, school safety, and firearms education.”

During the trip, the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus, co-chaired by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) hosted a reception. The DC Project presented its pillars and explained how legislators can partner with the group to provide armor in the attacks on the Second Amendment. “This organization of women is a game changer. For years, anti-gun women and politicians have demanded Congress strip away the rights of law-abiding gun owners; the DC Project provides a counter to their misinformation.” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) stated.

In total, the delegates not only attended more than 135 meetings but made countless impressions across the city with personal interactions with residents and tourists. The DC Project anticipates continuing the momentum at the individual state level.

Learn how to support or join by becoming an effective second amendment advocate in your community and with your legislators by visiting our website: http://DCPROJECT.info. At the conclusion to the Nationals Event, Dania Vizzi placed second in Women’s Skeet, breaking 239 of 250 targets. Vizzi also earned one of three spots to represent the U.S. in the Women’s Skeet World Championship. Teammate and six-time Olympic medalist Kim Rhode finished in third place, winning a bronze medal with a score of 236.

13th Symposium to Bolster Momentum of Wild Turkey Research

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — The NWTF, the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks are expediating the 13th National Wild Turkey Symposium by co-hosting the event in Kansas City in 2025.

Usually held every five years, the symposium brings together wild turkey experts from all arenas, including state, federal and private wild turkey researchers; land managers; and wild turkey enthusiasts, to exchange ideas that ensure the sustainability of wild turkeys and their habitats.

“Fast-tracking the 13th symposium is part of NWTF’s heightened effort to address population declines experienced throughout the country,” said Mark Hatfield, NWTF director of conservation services. “Our recent funding of critical wild turkey research projects coupled with the momentum created from the 12th National Wild Turkey Symposium have built a strong synergy between NWTF, academia and state agencies to address the emerging challenges and questions we face today. We need to keep our foot on the gas.”

The announcement is made on the heels of the 12th symposium, which the NWTF and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission co-hosted in June this year. During the event, the NWTF revealed a new $360,000 commitment to wild turkey research. The funding is providing critical support to seven research projects throughout the country.

At the conclusion of the 12th symposium, the NWTF also committed to holding the 13th symposium in 2025 to keep wild turkey research front and center. MDC and KDWP answered the call and ratified the next meeting.

APEX is pleased to announce that six more states have opened to hunters looking to enter the 2022 season. Alabama, West Virginia, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are now available to hunters interested in putting their skills to the test in this season’s Whitetail Challenge.

Participation in the APEX Whitetail Challenge is simple. Hunters must register online for the state or states that they plan to hunt, video record and document a hunt that results in a harvested buck, score that buck with the provided antler measuring tape and submit the animal to APEX. Upon completion of the hunting season the winners for each participating state will be announced. Hunter rewards are based on the number of entries in a state, with each challenge allowing only 1,500 entries per state.

With this announcement, APEX Outdoor Rewards has now launched in eight different states with several more coming just around the corner. For an entry of just $275, hunters will receive an official 4K APEX camera package, free to capture their hunt.  An incredible value, but more importantly hunters unlock the opportunity to showcase their passion and win thousands of dollars in cash rewards while helping benefit conservation.

NWTF Inks Expanded Forest Conservation Agreement with USDA/NRCS

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — Building on 20 years of partnerships and collaborative conservation, the NWTF and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service are bolstering their joint agreement for the National Forestry Initiative (NFI). The new five-year agreement will provide $7 million in funding for conservation and additional forestry professionals to reach even more private landowners.

“Our work with forestland owners plays an important role in improving wildlife habitat and supporting climate-smart conservation practices,” said Terry Cosby, Chief of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. “In partnering with the National Wild Turkey Federation, NRCS looks forward to expanding our impacts and supporting even more forestland owners, especially in underserved communities.”

From left to right: Mark Hatfield, NWTF National Director of Conservation Services; Becky Humphries, NWTF co-CEO; Terry Cosby, NRCS Chief; Kurt Dyroff, NWTF co-CEO

Over the last four years since the inception of the original agreement in 2018, the partnership has implemented conservation practices on more than 333,000 acres. Now, thanks to a new and enhanced agreement between the NRCS and the NWTF, the NFI is becoming an even more robust platform for promoting forest health and habitat conservation on private lands across the country.

Under the new fire-year agreement – which NWTF has dubbed NFI 2.0 – NRCS will contribute $5.3 million over the life of the agreement to implement volunteer conservation practices on private lands. This will enable the NWTF to bring much-needed forestry capacity and technical expertise across the country to work with private landowners, including landowners within historically underserved communities.

NFI foresters are responsible for delivering technical and financial assistance to private landowners across the nation through farm bill conservation programs. These foresters act as a support system and educational resource for private landowners and conduct an array of duties, ranging from helping landowners apply for conservation programs, to hosting “landowner field days,” which are educational events that illustrate how NRCS programs benefit the landscape, the landowner and wildlife.

FAST AND FRIENDLY BRASS SIMPLIFIES THE DILLON SUPER 1050/RL1100 PRIMING SYSTEM

New FFB Primer Vibe Delivery System Makes Loading Safer and Consistent

Farmington, MO – Fast and Friendly Brass,  a premier brand in tooling and processing equipment and supplies for optimal efficiency in brass loading and reloading, has fixed the weakest link in the Dillon Super 1050 and the RL1100 – the primer loading system. The new Primer Vibe Delivery System takes out the moving parts and makes loading rounds more effective and much safer.

“The last thing you want to have happen with your Dillon Precision press is an issue with the primer loading,” said Bill Birmingham, Owner of Fast and Friendly Brass. “The stock Dillon shuttle actuation arm has springs that break, and an arm that will bend and eventually break due to fatigue. Then, if a primer doesn’t drop properly into the shuttle and the shuttle moves, the primer can detonate. This can cause any primers in the vertical tubular column to detonate, causing an explosion. We know of more than one person to be injured from this design.”

The Fast & Friendly Brass Primer Vibe Delivery System removes the moving parts in the process of delivering primers to the stock Dillon primer punch. These moving parts are replaced with a vibratory bowl and chute system that accurately delivers primers to the punch that inserts them into the brass case using the stock Dillon priming mechanism. If there is a primer detonation, you’re protected thanks to a 12-inch tall, ¼-inch thick, polycarbonate safety shield.

The Primer Vibe Delivery System has a primer delivery speed of up to 15,000 per hour and comes with parts to convert to all primer sizes – small pistol/rifle and large pistol/rifle. You can convert primer sizes in less than 10 minutes, too, making switching things around faster and easier. The Primer Vibe Delivery System is available for all major auto-drives, including the FFB, Mk7, Ammobot, and Forcht.

Waterfowl Hunters: Wear Your Life Jackets

Add A Life Jacket To The Top Of Your Packing List

MADISON, Wis. – With more than 74,000 waterfowl hunters expected on waterways this year, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reminding waterfowl hunters to follow best safety practices as they hit the water this upcoming season.

Wisconsin has had 17 boating accident deaths so far this year, according to DNR records. It’s important for hunters to follow these safety tips to prevent boating accidents and deaths:

Be aware that water temperatures are rapidly cooling at this time of year. A fall overboard can turn dangerous quickly as hypothermia sets in. Wearing a life jacket can keep individuals on the surface and allow energy to be used to keep warm rather than to stay above the water.Remember to protect canine companions on the water – they need life jackets, too.Never overload the boat. If hunting on a large river or lake, use a boat that is big enough to handle rough water.Balance the boat evenly and keep weight low for stability.Be on the lookout for elements outside of your control, such as changing weather, or a slightly submerged stump, rock, sandbar or floating debris. If in a boat or canoe with a hunting partner, establish and communicate a safe fire zone; do not stand to shoot if a partner is shooting from a seated position.Always carry a cell phone so communication can happen in case of an emergency.

“With hunting dogs on board or other weather-related challenges, a boat can capsize, and things can take a turn for the worse quickly,” said Lt. Darren Kuhn, DNR Boating Safety Administrator. “No matter the skill level or years of hunting, waterfowl hunters should always wear their life jackets,”

Hunters should also be aware of the danger of waders on the water. If a boat capsizes and the hunter is ejected, waders can fill with water, creating suction around the hunter’s legs and feet, making it difficult to remove the waders. This added water weight greatly increases the risk of drowning. Wearing a life jacket can help keep hunters afloat.

Shoot United Launches Range Event Experiences with Featured Shooting Ranges

Shoot United launched a series of events last August in partnership with local shooting ranges to help those who are starting their journey in the shooting sports and responsible firearm ownership. Participants had access to knowledgeable trainers, received educational resources and experienced firearms firsthand on the shooting range.

“The first Shoot United events included participants with very diverse backgrounds who were curious and excited to learn more about topics in the shooting sports,” said Jason Gilbertson, director of marketing for Shoot United. “The environment was not intimidating. It was inviting, and people of all experience levels learned and experienced firearms in very positive ways. We will continue to collaborate directly with shooting ranges across the country that are willing to help with Shoot United events as we move in to 2023.”

Kicking off in August to coincide with National Shooting Sports Month, Shoot United hosted more than 130 people at ranges in select metropolitan areas throughout the country. Focusing on an introduction to handgun training at The Modern Sportsman event allowed for a small group instructional session with one-on-one range time. At the Hyatt Farms Shooting Complex event, all three disciplines of firearms (shotgun, handgun and rifle) were featured, giving new shooters the opportunity to explore different firearms in a safe, supportive environment.

Each event provided new participants an opportunity to ask questions of certified firearm instructors and professional competitive shooters, have fun with friends and family, while also getting safe, supportive hands-on experience during their time on the range.

Ranges who are interested in hosting a Shoot United event can reach out to [email protected].

Interior Department Announces Nearly $105 Million in Funding for Wetland Conservation Projects and National Wildlife Refuges

WASHINGTON – The Department of the Interior today announced that more than $31 million in grants has been approved by the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission, which will conserve or restore 116,305 acres of wetland and associated upland habitats for waterfowl, shorebirds and other birds in 18 states. The grants, made through the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA), will be matched by more than $60 million in partner funds.

In addition, the Commission, which is chaired by Secretary Deb Haaland, approved more than $13 million from the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund to conserve land on seven national wildlife refuges across seven states. The acquisitions will expand public opportunities for hunting, fishing, wildlife observation and outdoor recreational access.

“Wetland and upland habitats provide many economic, ecological and social benefits, while also serving as critical safeguards to the worsening effects of climate change, including flooding and rising seas. The investments we make today will help conserve bird populations, support outdoor recreation economies, and keep habitats whole and connected,” said Secretary Haaland. “These projects are great examples of the work we are accomplishing through the Biden-Harris Administration’s America the Beautiful initiative, which supports locally led and locally designed conservation efforts and restoration approaches.”

Partners in NAWCA projects include private landowners, state and local governments, conservation organizations, sportsmen’s groups, Tribes, land trusts and corporations. A database of the approved projects is available online by typing ‘2023’ into the ‘Window Year’ text field.

The funding to conserve 9,610 acres for seven national wildlife refuges through the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund was derived primarily from the sale of Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamps, commonly known as Duck Stamps, and import duties on imported arms and ammunition. Since 1934, the Federal Duck Stamp Program has provided more than $1.1 billion for habitat conservation in the National Wildlife Refuge System.

Hunters: Follow Baiting And Feeding Bans; Properly Dispose Of Carcasses

Help Slow The Spread of Chronic Wasting Disease

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is asking deer hunters and the public to help prevent the spread of chronic wasting disease (CWD) by following baiting and feeding bans and by properly disposing of deer carcass waste this hunting season.

Placing bait to hunt deer or feeding deer for viewing is banned by state law in certain counties due to the presence of CWD. In counties where CWD has not been found, hunters and other wildlife enthusiasts can still choose not to bait or feed deer and help reduce the risk of CWD transmission. You can easily check county baiting and feeding bans on the DNR website.

Bait is any material that is placed or used to attract wild animals for hunting purposes, including scent materials, salt, minerals and grains. Feed is any material used to feed or attract wild animals for non-hunting purposes, including recreational and supplemental feeding, except as allowed for birds and small mammals. Bait and feed placed on the landscape, even in limited quantities, often attracts unnatural numbers of deer.

Counties fall under a three-year baiting and feeding ban when wild or farm-raised deer have tested positive for CWD in the county. If the CWD-positive deer is found within 10 miles of a county line, the adjoining county will fall under a two-year ban. If additional CWD cases are found during the lifetime of a baiting and feeding ban, the ban will reset for an additional two or three years.

Titanium Innovation: A True Multi-Tool for Everyday Use

Innovation comes in many forms. New metals and finishes are constantly being produced and upgraded. However, one finish tends to stand apart because of its durability. Titanium has long been seen as a wonder metal. It’s hard to break. It’s natural to want to carry a nicely finished tool, and titanium makes that happen. Even when utilized as a finishing material, the durability of the finish is far better when employing titanium. One tool that is hard to maintain a handsome finish is a multi-tool.

True Knives unveils the Ti Pocket Muti-Tool. This is a heady-duty all-in-one toolkit. Inside is housed a 70mm fine edge sheepsfoot blade, a pair of spring-loaded pliers and wire cutters. As with any other multi-tool, the standard loadouts are there. Knife, pliers, screwdriver, saw, awl and a bottle opener is standard. This tool is small in stature and works just as well as larger counterparts while still leaving items easy to access with a significantly reduced weight. The blade and tools are finished in 2Cr13 Titanium Nitride stainless steel and utilize a lock-back design. Anodized aluminum is used for the handle and scales while still retaining a black oxide-coated thumb stub and screws.

Overall, size and weight make this tool a priority for when ounces matter. At .37 lbs and measuring 4.13” L x 1.42” W x 0.79 H, the Ti Packet Multi-Tool remains a looker and is useful when no other tool will do. Grab one today and add this essential item to your gear. Not only will the Titanium Nitride finish surpass many expectations, but the weight and balance will also surprise the skeptics.
