When it comes down to newcomers to the sport of big game hunting, one of the most common questions that comes up is what is the best hunting rifle for beginners. After all a hunter is, ultimately, only as good as his or her rifle and with so many rifles on the market these days, you're almost overwhelmed with too many choices – and way too many price points – to make an easy decision.

It can be very intimidating for someone new to the sport. Ballistics, velocity, bullet selection, it is enough to confuse even more experienced hunters. Trust us, we understand that feeling - but we all have to start from somewhere.

Realistically, the difference between most good, modern rifles are small. Any of these recommendations will last for years to come. And the people new to hunting fall into two categories: novice shooters and experienced shooters.

Beginner shooters are often young - pre-teens or teenagers. Although some adults take up shooting and hunting later in life. The two most important factors when selecting a rifle for a novice shooter are easy operation and tolerable recoil. Then you want to consider is what you are going to be hunting.
