Ducks Unlimited celebrates Earth Day 2022

Friday, April 22, is the 52nd annual celebration of Earth Day

Ducks Unlimited (DU) encourages you to celebrate Earth Day by getting outdoors and experiencing the natural wonders around us. Earth Day 2022 is April 22, and this year’s theme is “Invest in Our Planet.”

DU has invested in our planet since its founding in 1937 because DU conserves, restores and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl. These positive impacts on our natural ecosystems also benefit people and communities through cleaner water and air, improved flood control, carbon storage, recreational opportunities and climate regulation.

“In 2021, Team DU celebrated a monumental conservation milestone by restoring or protecting more than 15 million acres of habitat in North America since its founding,” said DU Chief Conservation Officer Karen Waldrop. “Thanks to the commitment of DU’s volunteers, members, partners and staff, we invest in our planet every day.”

Here is some information on just a few of the places across North America where Ducks Unlimited is investing in our planet.

Thanks to 85 years of abiding by a single conservation mission, Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest and most effective waterfowl and wetlands conservation organization. DU delivers its work on public and private lands through partnerships with private individuals, landowners, agencies, scientific communities and other entities.

You don’t have to look far to find public conservation lands and waters near your home. These are perfect places to go fishing, hiking, boating or hunting.

“Celebrate Earth Day and help the Earth’s ecosystems by planting a tree, taking a walk, picking up litter, fishing, hiking, boating, bird watching, hunting or just taking it all in,” Waldrop said.

“Joining and supporting Ducks Unlimited and our conservation mission is a great way to give back to the earth every day,” Waldrop said. “The main thing is finding your own way to enjoy nature and give back to the planet and future generations.”
