BAJÍO Sunglasses’ Mission Warrants the Consideration of Anglers and Water Sports Enthusiasts

By: Nancy Jo Adams, Life in Camo Media

Rarely will you find a company so invested in the wellness of our planet than BAJÍO Sunglasses. When I learned about the efforts BAJÍO makes to run a sustainable business, I quickly realized those efforts are nothing short of amazing.

The Mission

The BAJÍO mission is to protect the World’s saltwater flats, and through that mission is its pledge to sustainable business choices. Using eco-materials and stringently choosing sustainably driven partners ensures accountability to their mission. From the recycled glass in the optics to the cactus leather cases to the bamboo display cases, BAJÍO uses the most sustainable resource in all its business practices. They even go as far as to vet the vendors they choose to support their products.

By BAJÍO using recycled glass for lenses, greener options for frames, cactus leather cases, recycled packaging, and bamboo display cases, you can rest assured you are receiving eco-friendly products. Those products result from a company built around a higher performance standard using the most sustainable resources and the highest eco-friendly practices. The Introduction

With plans to spend time on the Gulf and local lakes in Alabama this summer, it was time to upgrade our sporting sunglasses. When I started looking at glasses, I had our essential needs in mind. What was most important to us was seeing in murky water, in gulf water, and in high sun glare reflecting off the water. Coverage and fit were also vital if we were going to wear them for extended periods in the heat, wind, salt, and water spray.

I was introduced to BAJÍO by a colleague who mentioned that it was a new company with a limited number of styles and models, but they were adding some new models to their line-up this summer. With an upcoming deep sea fishing trip planned, I looked at what was available. It was then that I discovered the mission and pledge of B and all the efforts they put forward to be true to that mission. Knowing I would be an extension of that mission by purchasing a product felt good. I thought I needed to share this mission with everyone since rarely do you find a company that goes above and beyond with its initiative in the well being of our environment.

Technology & Features
The BAJÍO technology is simple, the clearest, highest quality lenses available with the best protective coating and polarization possible that is lightweight and comfortable to wear all day. A feature that ensures the perfect fit is the choice of variable frame sizes, available in small to extra-large. Sun-blocking temples were another essential feature for our use due to the sun’s reflection off the boat deck. In the line-up, there are six lens colors to choose from to fit the users’ personal needs. Simply put, customizable lenses and frames for every style of water sports out there.

The six lens colors were designed for a specific use, and each has proven to be the best possible combination for that intended use.

Blue mirror with a grey base is the darkest lens offered by B and is excellent for offshore fishing in bright sunlight.Green mirror with a brown base is the second darkest lens offered and is perfect for fishing flats, reefs, and shorelines in bright sunlight.Silver mirror with copper base is a medium light lens, a high contrast lens ideal for Western rivers and lake fishing in lower light and bright sunlight.Rose mirror with red base is another combination good for Western rivers and lake fishing.Grey base is non-mirrored and is suitable for low-contrast situations.Copper base is a good choice for spotting fish and underwater structures.

The Selection

Keeping all these features in mind, I was able to customize a pair of sunglasses for Richard and a pair for myself. Our new sunglasses fit us comfortably, not just an off-the-rack fit we were accustomed to purchasing.

Richard selected the ROCA in dark tort matte with a blue mirror-grey base polycarbonate lens. The ROCA offers an extra-large frame with a full base wrap for maximum coverage. The vented side shields are designed to reduce light intrusion without fogging up. The impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses’ oleophobic coating is scratch-resistant and repels skin oils and water.

“I was surprised at the clarity of the lenses. With the Lapis technology and polarization, the darker lens color choice rendered the lenses crisp in the early morning overcast. The lenses worked very well in the bright sun reflecting off the water and boat deck. The lightweight ROCA frames remained comfortable all day and never fogged up in the intense heat.” ~Richard

I chose the black gloss PAILA frames with a blue mirror-grey base glass lens. This large frame offered me great coverage with a medium wrap. My choice had the same Lapis technology and polarization as the ROCA frames. With the PAILA, the only difference was that there was a little less coverage.

“When ordering, I felt that I would have to sacrifice the glasses being lightweight for choosing glass lenses. To my surprise, this was not the case. I was also questioning my choice to lose a little less coverage than the ROCA lens, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much coverage I had from the harsh sun. The PAILA fit all day comfortably and stayed in place through all the fishing and fun.” ~Nancy Jo

The BAJÍO mission in protecting the World’s saltwater flats deserves the consideration of any angler or water sports enthusiast when contemplating new sunglasses. As a sustainability-driven company utilizing eco-materials in every frame selection while incorporating advanced technology at comparable pricing, in my opinion, the BAJÍO Sunglasses brand has earned a spot at the top of the sunglass market.
